Valley
Tumblr media
In a valley I am stuck
For an unknown amount of time
Waiting for someone to pull me from it
A week goes by, months, years
Yet here I remain, still in a rut
Reasoning with the steep hills has proven useless
For years I may remain
Until I become taller than the hills
So I may step over them

fix it myself
Tumblr media
I have been waiting for a time to come
When everything has fixed itself
And I succeed
But waiting for a time
That you don’t know when will come
Is futile

OC drabble
The sounds of the woods surrounded them, their breath fogging up in the dim light. Rhazien poked at the burning wood with his sword, the tip glowing red as the fire crackled. He sighs and looks behind him at the tall, shivering woman he had grown to despise. If she hadn’t showed him up on the last day of the tournament, she wouldnt have landed in this position. Who even taught her to fight like that?
He shook off the thought, trying not to let it get to him. Delona chattered her teeth, and he turned back around to the fire, turning the rabbit over it slowly. He started to smell the flesh burning and his mouth watered instantly despite the foul odor. Rhazien took the rabbit off of the heat and it steamed in the snowy air.
“Here,” he offered her the food and she takes it from his hand eagerly, ripping off a leg. He turns back and pokes a stick through another skinned rabbit, praising the heavens for allowing them to find a den. Sighing, the prince thinks back to the day they had, and the losses they endured. He puts his face in his hand and winces, just noticing a cut left on his eyebrow from the struggle. His eyes squeeze shut. There was too much new blood shed today. He didn’t even know where his trainees were. All because the two of them had given conflicting orders. They didnt even know where their horses were.
Delona clears her throat and he snaps his eyes open, noticing the rabbit on the fire becoming over-done on one side.
“Are you alright?” She asks, disgruntled. He turns the rodent and grimaces.
“Yes, yeah- I’m fine.”
“You don’t look fine,” she says inbetween bites.
He sighs and clenches his fist. He couldn’t hold back his anger any more.
“I’m perfect actually. Because of you, we lost two good men. They had just finished their training and I knew they weren’t ready for a mission like this, but you,” He took a deep breath, twirling around to face her. “You insisted they were prepared.”
“They were perfectly capable. The problem wasnt their capability, it was your inability to work with me. You gave orders that contradicted mine. That seems like your fault.” She burps and tosses the bone she was chewing on to the ground.
“Your orders were going to get them killed. I tried to save them from that.” His voice raised.
“Well look what good your ‘saving’ did. I went over that drill with them for months. I knew what we were going into when we entered that cave. We all heard the briefing.” She retorted, her tone matching his.
“Maybe if you took the time to tell me what plan of attack you were going to use before-hand, I couldve stopped you. But no, you waited until we were in the thick of it to say anything.”
“You’re just mad because you didnt pay attention at the meeting. We agreed on a plan while you stood in the corner sulking. All because that whore didn’t love you.” She gasps after realizing what she had said. She hoped he hadnt heard the hint of jealousy in her voice. If he had, he was too hurt by her words to say anything about it.
“Do you ever learn when to shut the fuck up?” He yelled, his voice carrying in the still air of the woods.
She sat quietly for a moment, staring at him, before saying, “your dinner is burning.” She got up and took a few steps into the trees surrounding the small clearing, coughing a bit due to the cold. He scrambled to take his food off of the fire, and the charred flesh smoked sadly. The arguing was second-nature for him at this point, and it didnt take much for him to become focused on his food. Although it was burnt to shit, Rhazien devoured it, keeping the bones in a pile on the ground.
He looked around and didn’t see his companion. For a moment he became concerned, but pushed the thought to the back of his mind. Delona was capable enough to take care of herself. He fiddled with the bones, picking up a sharp rock and beginning to sharpen the femur into a point. Once he decided it was sharp enough he made notches in the sides of the head of the femur, whittling them down so the bone resembled a dagger. He sat and thought a moment, before taking down one of his braids and taking the string from it. Wrapping the string in the grooves he made, he tied a knot at the bone and one further along the string. He held it up and examined his craftsmanship, deciding the necklace was good enough to keep.
As he whittled down another bone, he heard a twig snap behind him. Rhazien jumped and turned quickly, brandishing the finished weapon in his hand.
“Cool art project.” Delona says, a bundle of sticks and a few logs in her arms. Her fur stuck up around her face, framing it nicely in the firelight. He relaxes and turns back around, sitting in front of the fire.
