Riotgrrravel 2018

Dear riders,

This year's Riotgrrravel event will be held on Sat., May 26, 2018. Registration will open on Thursday--stay tuned for another email message from me later this week with the link.

Details: Riotgrrravel is a free, unsupported 21 or 33 mile gravel road race/ride starting in Hastings, MN. Our mission is to provide a fun, accessible ride that is woman, trans, gender non-conforming, and family friendly.

8–9 am Registration at Hope Lutheran Church parking lot, 16898 Michael Avenue, Hastings, MN 55033 9:15 am 33-mile race starts 9:25 am 21-mile race starts

Female, trans, and gender non-conforming riders will receive priority in registration as this event is designed to support them. Cisgender men who wish to participate must ride with a female, trans, gender non-conforming rider, or a family member (any gender) under 18. Alternatively, men who wish to support the event may choose to volunteer.

I'm looking forward to another fun event--please spread the word and invite new riders to join.

What you need to know for RiotGRRRaveL

This is a free unsupported gravel race.

The start and finish line will be at the Hastings Hope Lutheran Church at 16898 Michael Ave Hastings, MN. Josh and some of his congregation will be there to provide their church space, parking lot and to wish all of the riders an excellent race. This is our 2nd year and our 2nd year working with Pastor Josh. They are community oriented & a great group to work with.

There is an optional meet up for donuts at Emily's bakery at 1212 Vermillion St, Hastings, MN 55033 that goes from 7-745. We are starting on site registration at Hope Lutheran at 8.

Riotgrrravel is being supported by Penn Cycle & Road ID this year. Penn Cycle will have Vanessa on hand at the start to assist with last minute bike emergencies. Thanks to Penn Cycle! Road ID once again provided our numbered bibs this year.

There will be 5 prizes this year for women or teens riding. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, dead middle and dead last.

We have two routes 50 miles- start time 8:30 am and 32 mile with a 9 am start time.

The two courses over lap and you will double back on some roads, so you will want to pay close attention to your cue sheets!

Bring whatever kind of ride you want... Road bike, Mountain Bike, Cross Bike, Tandem, Single/Fixed, Snow Bike, or Unicycle.

The course is not closed to traffic and does not have an escort. Also the course will only be slightly marked so cue cards are used for navigation. This is a self supported event so pack what you need and what you pack in, pack out. Rules of the road apply, stop at all stop signs, yield to cars, and do not cross the yellow centerline.

Our goal is that everyone has a safe race!

Rules: Obey all traffic laws. Helmet required No littering!! 5 hour cut off - we will packing up at 2pm Bring what you will need for the ride- water, snacks, extra tube

Weather: Unless there is active thunderstorms, we will ride through rain. I will post on facebook and send a mass email if the race is cancelled.
