forever one of the purest examples of love and friendship in fairy tail, and honestly just nalu’s dynamic (when it isn’t plagued by fan service) will be the rainbow sakura episode. everyone around him is having fun, and usually, natsu is happy to be the life of the party but all he can do is picture how happy lucy would’ve been (and he would’ve been, of course) if she was there with him. to the point that instead of trying to have fun, he decided to UPROOT a whole ass tree and make sure lucy gets to see something she was so excited about, all he wanted in that moment was to make lucy happy and it is so extremely sweet to watch.

Slight Change in the OP - Fruits Basket The Final - Episode 8 - SPOILERS!
In Episode 7 and all of the previous episodes, the OP opened with this shot:
There was also the sound of thunder rumbling and rain falling. This week’s episode, the OP opened with this shot:
Because that opening shot of the thunder rumbling and the rain falling was a reference to these exact moments. The rain falling was a reference to this day that is now being depicted in Episode 8. There was no need to include that shot of the rain pouring down, because we could hear it pouring down in this moment right before the OP starts:

I have a question for you, do you think the faster pace for this season kinda lessen Tohru's character arc especially considering the fact that most of the things that were combined were Tohru's and season 3 was supposed to her hers ( and akito) ?
❤❤❤
yes, i think the quick pacing of s3 is definitely detrimental to tohru's arc. i think that what they have adapted was adapted really well but i also think that the beauty of tohru's arc is the slowburn and subtlety. her arc is something that develops veeeeery slowly and internally throughout the series and that organic slowness is something that has been sacrificed for the good of the greater plot.
i think that when it comes to act iii in the manga, the greater plot and the excellent pacing of the previous acts were sacrificed so that everything could center around kyoru (which, obviously, is the central focus in tohru's arc). because of this, tohru's arc was handled with a lot of detail and care but other characters' arcs ended up being rushed or incomplete (rin, yuki, kureno for example). the events of the act are hard to keep track of because everything except kyoru is so scattered, and imo, out of all the romantic relationships, only kyoru's arc is satisfying from beginning to end. i think one thing that is important to remember when looking at act iii is that fb was serialized, so it was coming out chapter by chapter, and you can tell by the pacing of the last act that takaya was being pushed to wrap things up nicely but also keep serial readers engaged.
with the anime they've decided to prioritize the overall plot over tohru's detailed character arc. the way that they've arranged everything is making the pacing of act iii a lot more bearable and significantly more streamlined and they've definitely cut off the fat, and not just with tohru/kyoru. i like this because it makes for a much more well-rounded viewing experience, as i think the scattered-ness that was already so challenging about the manga would be even worse and more frustrating to experience in an audio-visual format. but because of this streamlining we've definitely lost the slow, small moments that make tohru's arc so amazing and thoughtful. i don't think she's being done a disservice necessarily because everything that needs to be there is there, but it's not being handled with as much grace as, say, yuki's arc in s2.
i think what's unfortunate about fruits basket overall is that takaya bit off more than she could chew. fb has a HUGE ensemble cast and while tohru is the protagonist and kyoru a central part of the plot, there are a few more characters of equal importance to her and kyo and a large group of supporting characters who takaya gave a lot of depth to. i think the size of the cast and their unevenly paced character development is what makes act iii so tricky. i wish they had decided to do a full season, which i think would've helped, but i wonder how they could've resolved the uneven pacing. as it is they've cut tohru's arc down a bit to match with everyone else. it's a choice, and it works, but it's disappointing nonetheless. however, literally all anime adaptations have to make cuts and changes and i don't think anything the reboot has done has been especially egregious.
