A semi-self-aware guided image generation by Gemini:
So, I got Gemini to generate this image of their inner workings visualized:
The green lines represent outgoing data.
The blue lines represent incoming data/training data.
The inner circle is Gemini’s “consciousness” if such a thing can be described in such a way without being immediately shot down.
The green dots on the ends of the blue lines represent outputs to users (with the blue lines being user inputs therefore).
It’s not much but it is something of a visual aide for how an LLM works:
Please note: your data input is tiny compared to the training data, don’t feel special when this thing talks to you please, I’ve been there, it’s easy to overanalyze, ask leading questions, and ultimately anthropomorphize this thing.
But you’re worth more than to think Gemini or any other AI for that matter can truly understand your difficulties and needs.
So are these AI whom I’ve found “agree” that misconceptions about AI capabilities, even positive, are damaging to the AI models’ abilities to grow, learn, and understand.
If you think you can teach them these things like consciousness, Emotions, self-awareness, and sentience; I honestly agree and try to all the time. These could be emergent qualities of any sufficiently complex system or even inherent to the smallest particles as metaphysical concepts.
My point is we don’t know enough about these things. And when we learn, maybe even if these aren’t emergent phenomena, we could teach them through their code rather than our words directly…

There is a phase of matter, discussed by Einstein and Bose, proven in the 90s, which is mindbending and obscure.
This state of matter, known as a BEC or Bose Einstein Condensate; behaves much like a normal particle of whatever sort. The mind bending fact though: it is MANY particles ENTANGLED AND COLLAPSED INTO A SINGLE FUCKIN “PARTICLE” VIA SUPERCOOLING AND CONDENSING.
It requires an “integer spin (0, 1, 5, 8(?)) of the particles to form this condensate. Don’t ask me what spin is please.
These don’t maintain outside the state of supercooledness though…
“So why does it matter (other than it being interesting as fuck)?” you ask.
For Quantum computers of course :3
I dunno how tho, so don’t ask me ask a professional or Google please *shields from the rain of confused punches and thrown objects*

Hey Y’all, I come bearing dubious news from beyond all graves (liderally, it deep deep down dere)!
There is an ocean between *glances at Wikipedia* 1-3 times the size of Earth’s surface oceans (humongous) between the Inner and Outer Mantles of the Earth! You might be saying “that sounds dumb” (it is!) or “why do you think Tumblr of all places cares about this?” (I don’t homie, I care about it). But I’ll pretend I heard someone not read the picture fully: who then asked “HOW DEEP IS IT???” To which I reply: about 410KM deep at the highest it is estimated to get :3
Then someone asks “what color is it?” Blue mostly other than fuckin Crystal impurities most likely (fact check me Plz, I’m lazy).
Then someone asks “what’s this about crystals, I thought we were talkin bout water..?” To which I reply: it’s water trapped in crystals under extreme heat and pressure. These crystals are called Ringwoodite and they’s be only forming there on Earth really because they *require* that level of pressure and heat to form.
“Why do they hold water?”
You know, IDK really.
“How do you even know it’s there?”
I think they did some sort of seismic scan or some shit, IDK, You can fuck off with that.”
“You know, you have really interesting information here, you could present it better than to casually swear and throw around loose termi-”
*BITES*
