I think one of the biggest reasons I fell in love with Lucy was because of how normal she was. She was a normal teenage girl who ran away from home to live her life. Her family life is something many people can relate to (not the super rich part but the lack of love). She starts off like everyone else and throughout the story becomes one of the strongest members of fairy tail. Its very normal and in a series where everyone was everything but normal, she had to grow and adapt and I loved watching her do just that. For her it wasn't about being badass and super strong from the start, it was about seeing everyone aroumd her be that and becoming that with them.

The excuse of "at least he has parents" is stupid. Everyone in this genrration has parents, but he has to watch his friends spend time and have fun with their fathers while he can't and when he tells someone about his feelings they tell him to not bother his father. To him he isnt just losing his dad, he is losing his right to behave like a normal kid and WANT something without getting in trouble for it. I mean Shikadai does all the troubling stuff like Boruto but shikamaru becomes proud of Shikadai while Naruto becomes upset at Boruto. When a kid sees that of course they will be upset.
