I first started to like K-pop back in 2010. My first fandom was Shawol! SHINee was really, really great. They are amazing singers, dancers, comedians (haha), and they are loved by so many people. The fandom itself is also very warm and not toxic at all. Life was good. But then… December 2017 happened. It’s still very traumatizing and saddening. I am trying to heal myself bit by bit, but seeing the members doing well encourages me a lot.

Then I joined a new fandom: Igot7! Not long after, the group left JYP and they haven’t done group activities (yet, as of now).

And in early 2024, I started to love RIIZE… I honestly didn’t feel much anger or sadness about Seunghan’s hiatus because I had only known them as six members. But when the announcement came that he would return, I was overjoyed. I was so happy that we got to see all the new songs performed with the full lineup! Seeing how happy the members were… gosh, that was priceless. But then… October 13 happened, and it really brought my morale down.

Although K-pop brings me so much joy, it also brings me sadness and tears. Why do I always end up choosing groups with sad moments to stan? Maybe it’s time for me to take a break from the K-pop world
