There's an EU initiative going on right now that essentially boils down to wanting to force videogame publishers with paid games and/or games with paid elements such as DLC, expansions and microtransactions to leave said games in a playable state after they end support, or in simpler terms, make them stop killing games.
A "playable state" would be something like an offline mode for previously always online titles, or the ability for people to host their own servers where reasonably possible just to name some examples.
I don't think I need to tell anyone that having something you paid for being taken from you is bad, which is a thing that routinely happens with live service and other always online games with a notable recent example being The Crew which is now permanently unplayable.
Any EU citizen is eligible to sign the initiative, but only once and if you mess up that's it. You can find it here. (https://eci.ec.europa.eu/045/public/#/screen/home)
Even if you're not European or you signed it already, you can share this initiative with anyone who is, even if they don't care about videogames specifically because this needs a million signatures and there is different thresholds that need to be met for each EU country for their votes to even count and could also be a precedent for other similar practices like when Sony removed a bunch of Discovery TV content people paid for. EDIT: There are also some things people outside the EU can do, as well as additional things some people in specific EU countries like Germany and France can do that aim to solve this same issue as well. You can find that here. (https://www.stopkillinggames.com/)
(Note: There was a petition for UK people but the recent politics stuff there means it's on hold and has to be resubmitted and that may take some time.)
Additionally if you want to keep up with this you can check out Ross Scott (Accursed Farms on youtube or his website) who has been posting monthly about this and deserves a lot of credit for all this work.
(I hope that's all the stuff I missed)
EDIT 2: I changed the link to go directly to the form instead, this SHOULD work!

Google is actively blocking Captcha on Firefox
Firefox users have noticed that captchas - both the picture kind and the click the box kind - are not resolving on Firefox. Tests on Chromium based browsers show that it works perfectly fine on them. It is also known that Chrome will be disabling all ad-blockers in June when it moves to Manifest v3, which will greatly limit what extensions can do.
If you use Firefox, there is an extension called User-Agent Switcher and it allows you to change your browser's UA to Chrome. This will allow you to bypass reCaptcha/Captcha blocks set up by Google and make them function properly.
It could be a code snafu on Google's part - but given how predatory they have been acting lately, I'm going to guess not. Don't get locked out of your websites or feel forced to use Chrome again just to browse.

Hey y'all, there's been a zero-day vulnerability found in WinRAR, so you gotta update it if you're on an older version (anything below 6.24/6.23). It doesn't auto update so you need to do it manually. It's been around for a few months and has been fixed, but if you don't update your shit then your computer will still be vulnerable.
please reblog this so that people learn about it or whatever (10/19/23)

Um, a small collection of frog objects (green only), a bunch of Discworld books (incomplete) and puzzles in the last two (three?) or so years.
I'm not counting yarn or fabric. That's a ... side effect... -_-
Hand knit socks, tho, they count.
Because polls get the most engagement I’m making a poll lol
(For the sake of this poll: a collector is anyone who *currently has* a collection of things either physically or digitally that they intentionally acquired which can be grouped together)
Please please please please pleeeeeeeaaaaaaase tell me what you collect and optionally why!!!! (This is doubly true if your collection is related to a regulatory/“special” interest!!!!!!! That’s honestly the only reason I’m making this poll, I am begging youuuuuuuuuuu
Neurodivergent related tags are for reach as I know a lot of neurodiverse people are collectors. I do try my best not to clutter those tags, if anyone has an issue with it please tell me and I’ll remove them

I think mom’s computer acts up some times, maybe these’ll help. :/
i thought my laptop was on its last leg because it was running at six billion degrees and using 100% disk space at all times and then i turned off shadows and some other windows effects and it was immediately cured. i just did the same to my roommate's computer and its performance issues were also immediately cured. okay. i guess.
so i guess if you have creaky freezy windows 10/11 try searching "advanced system settings", go to performance settings, and uncheck "show shadows under windows" and anything else you don't want. hope that helps someone else.

Got sick on tuesday, unable to keep about anything inside. Even water gave me awful cramps. Today the first food has stayed in (so far). Rough. Hopefully, hopefully on the mend. Been so tired and hungry. :(

Turn these off NOW. If you wait they can use whatever you've said or shared with your friends on there until whenever you turn it off, even after you turn it off.
Turn them off and tell Discord to get their head out of their arse and go fuck themselves.

This is Meredith, a friend of mine who, whenever I encounter her at parties I always ask her about her research on this stuff. She's fat-positive and doing research for her PhD on weight-loss surgery in Canada. In her tweets she says she's looking to talk to people who are "engaged in fat politics, have had negative or harmful experiences in surgery", particularly cis men, trans and non-binary people, and BIPOC.
Meredith is one of the most gentle and kind people I know and I'm sure talking to her will be a wonderful experience. It seems like she could use more fat trans voices in her research, and I am sharing this with her permission, because I know there are a lot of people on tumblr who have a lot to say. Let your voices be heard!
Contact her at besseym at uoguelph dot ca, and signal boost!

Trying to crush them? Less nothing but dry almond, more surface space to mix the choc in... (also half a tiny handful of chili peanuts left in a bag)
Also tea '_'
Tumblr media
Spitefully choking down exactly 22 raw almonds a day because they're good for heart health, but cover them in melted down dark chocolate to barely make them edible without crying and whining.
Still tastes bad.
The tea helps a bit. :/

Idk if this is common knowledge, but since I’ve been seeing a lot of celebration at the return of zlibrary, I want to make sure that everyone knows that pirated books can destroy an author’s career. If you are pirating works by indie authors who are in Kindle Unlimited, Amazon considers that a breech of exclusivity agreement and can shut down your account. Forever. You can’t get a second account. And they won’t pay out the three months of earnings they owe you.
Traditionally published authors have also been struggling to get contracts, advances, and publisher support, and this shit can ruin it for them too. For the love of god use a real library. Get a KU subscription. Ask an author if they’ll send you an arc! Wait for a sale! Keep pirating your D*sney movies or whatever but there are so many ethical, cheap/free options for books. You are not hurting The Man, you’re hurting someone who is just trying to pay their bills.

Thing about war that I was never really told despite my country being of the middle of WW2 battles: you'll get used to it. You'll hear an explosion and still go walk with your dog or shop for groseries. You'll ignore most of alerts. You'll interact with people who escaped literal hell of ocvupation or their city being completely destroyed and you'll talk about weather.
But your mental state will be slipping. Day by day, week by week. Even if you have food, heat, and water, even if your loved ones are alive. Because it's hard. Waking up from your roomate having another night terror about dying from missles, living with knowledge you might die or be seriously hurt tomorrow, hearing and feeling vibration from explosions. Nobody is built for this.
