i do think, in long-term chainshipping, the first few years would be rough communication-wise. like... lawrence gets weirdly quiet for a week—is forgetful, not talkative, a little cold. and all week adam's thinking, what is this guy's problem? adam gives him a little space but starts to get frustrated when he feels lawrence is pushing him away. lawrence doesn't want to talk, doesn't want to make out, is just coming home from work, eating dinner silently, watching tv miserably, then going to bed. dark circles let adam know lawrence hasn't been sleeping much though. it feels different from when autumn rolls around and they're both on autopilot because, you know, a year or so has passed since they got chained in the goddamn bathroom. but adam gets so annoyed because he's used to getting attention and affection from lawrence (they're not even cuddling!) and finally adam asks what's going on—

and lawrence is like, "oh. my wedding anniversary would've been this week. I didn't want to talk about it."
