Summary: Yoshiki, leading the talking Morishige, made no attempt to silence him. The only thing that mattered now was that they had managed to survive in this damned place until now.
Notes: The party thread in this fic: Yoshiki returned to Tenjin and, not finding Ayumi, ran into Morishige during his breakdown after Mayu called.
They are walking about 40 minutes after the rescue
"Kishinuma, did you know that Mayu loved fortune telling and had recently learned to tell fortunes with cards?"
And he doesn't want to answer at all, Morishige doesn't expect an answer. He speaks more for himself, remembering details about his friend. Yoshiki only needs one look at his classmate to understand that he is still mentally tormented by recent events. The guy's face is still covered in blood. They couldn't wipe it off, and it's not like anyone really tried to do it.
"She planned to visit us after graduation, wanted to make it a surprise, but accidentally let it slip to me and Shishido-sensei. Sensei just laughed then and assured that if she couldn't come herself, then we would all come together."
Kishinuma bites his own lip to keep from saying anything careless. Morishige is not in a state where he can properly evaluate even the softest and most calm answers. The only thing the blond can do is weakly squeeze his classmate's palm in his own as a sign of silent support.
"Oh, I still have a present from her for you at home," Sakutarou looks at the back of the blond's head with his clouded gaze and is only a little surprised when Yoshiki nods at him with a quiet question: "What do you mean?". "She made a present for your birthday, but asked me to give it to you since she won't be able to do it in person."
And Kishinuma feels a little awkward. He was never a fan of Mayu before. Even though she was a good and kind girl, he found her strange in some ways. Most likely, it was only because she spent almost all her time in the company of Morishige, whom many preferred to avoid. Now Yoshiki himself was walking in the company of this guy, of course, not the version of him on normal school days, but nevertheless.
"For a while, she thought that you and I were together or just had feelings for each other, but were embarrassed to say so."
At this point, Kishinuma had to stop and, raising his eyebrows in complete surprise, turned to face his classmate, who had weakly bumped into his back due to the sudden stop.
"Why did she think that?" Kishinuma merely steps aside to avoid standing so close to Sakutarou, when the boy shrugs his shoulders in response and looks up at the ceiling, apparently trying to remember why Mayu thought that.
"She saw how you led me when you broke my glasses."
Yoshiki has to think a bit, and the next second, he faintly flares up in embarrassment. Suzumoto saw an awkward picture that Yoshiki himself would like to forget because of his own sense of shame.
"I explained the situation to her, and for some time, she still doubted, but in the end, she let it go. Still, your attempts to get along with the Shinozaki are more convincing than one our awkward adventure."
Yoshiki instantly forgets about the embarrassment of his situation with Morishige, now feeling embarrassed only because of his attempts to attract Ayumi's attention. Of course, almost the entire class knew about his feelings for the class representative. He never really hid them, he couldn't even if he tried, but Ayumi always successfully ignored it or really didn't understand. He is pulled out of his thoughts by Morishige pulling his hand out of Kishinuma's grip.
"What are you-.."
The blond fell silent the next second when he saw that Sakutaro was not doing anything special. He was simply taking off his glasses and trying to wipe the blood off his face. The wound on his forehead had not bled for a long time, and the drying blood did not bring any pleasure. Apparently, the excellent student only now realized this.
"Why didn't you tell me there was blood on my face?"
Kishinuma blinks in surprise and looks at Morishige for asking such a seemingly stupid question in all seriousness. Didn't he feel like something was wrong?
"Morishige, you remember where that blood on your face came from, right?"
Yoshiki sounded a little worried, and Morishige, who was now frowning a little, didn't help him at all.
"I lost consciousness and hit something... Kishinuma?"
And the blond feels like he’s been doused with cold water, he looks at his classmate, his eyes wide open and his mouth slightly open, not fully understanding whether he should say anything now.
"Morishige, what's the last thing you remember before you lost consciousness?" Yoshiki's voice seemed to grow a little hoarse at the last words, but he chose not to think about it, watching the excellent student's changing face.
"You're scaring me," Sakutarou sighs, stopping his attempts to wipe the blood off his face and returning his glasses to their rightful place, relaxing into his normal vision again. "I was sitting in the hallway on my phone and I got a call... Mayu called me. I had a breakdown, and after it I lost consciousness. I hit the floor when I fell, right?"
Kishinuma's expression made Sakutarou tense up a little because he looked too unapproachable. He frowned and looked away, biting his lip and crossing his arms over his chest, although it was more like he was hugging himself with them.
"Kishinuma, explain what's going on."
"You..." Yoshiki frowns even more and sighs, examining his classmate a little better, only now it is noticeable that his gaze has become clearer, without any blurriness. "You, damn it, tried to commit suicide because of the influence of this place. You didn't lose consciousness. You just banged your head against the wall, and then you even intended to jump out the window. I managed to drag you away from the window, and it took at least twenty minutes to bring you to your senses, only to find out now that you don't remember anything."
The blond looks at his classmate and sees only his surprise as he reaches for his forehead, carefully and lightly feeling the wound on his forehead. Kishinuma sees how Sakutarou's hand begins to tremble slightly as he pulls it away and stares tensely at the floor for a couple of minutes.
“Thank you for saving me,” Morishige nods weakly but doesn’t look up, deciding whether to say anything else, and in the end, he doesn’t say anything else.
"No need, it's normal that I helped my classmate. I'm really sorry that you found out about Mayu's death in such a way. If Ayumi and I knew that this would happen, we wouldn't have let you go alone."
Sakutarou dismisses Yoshiki's answer somewhat absentmindedly, clearly not taking into account the essence of the information he said. Staying in one place for too long is a bad idea, so despite the other's slowdown, Kishinuma takes his classmate's hand again and slowly begins to walk further down the corridor, avoiding the gaps in the boards and warning his companion about them. Sakutarou walks silently, not resisting or lagging behind his friend.
"Did you know about Mayu before?"
Morishige speaks too calmly and Kishinuma feels a herd of goosebumps run through his body. He was ashamed that he and Shinozaki had not told this quiet man about his friend's death when they first met, but the past can't be changed.
"We saw her die," Yoshiki answers a little slowly, feeling the other man's hand squeeze his after he answers. "The ghost children picked her up and carried her down the entire corridor..."
Sakutarou mumbles something unintelligible in response and says nothing more, clearly lost in his thoughts. Yoshiki doesn't even expect an answer. He's only glad that he has time to catch his breath after so much talking.
They don't know for sure if they'll be able to find any more of their classmates when they walk through the school corridors like this, but in their souls there's a burning hope to find everyone and still return home peacefully.

Headcanons for Morishiki (+Mayu) without Sachiko ritual ever happening❗️
•As Mayu moved away, she was contacting with Morishige by texts and rare calls. When Shige talked about leaving drama club, Suzumoto would always stop him.
•Yoshiki started talking with Morishige, feeling sorry because he was always alone in his phone, texting with Mayu.
•As soon as Mayu found out about Sakutarou and Kishinuma starting friendship, she started texting Kishinuma to ask how are they doing (Shige would always say everything is fine even if it's not) and asking him to help when she thought Morishige was feeling down, and it could become dangerous.
•As Morishige and Yoshiki started talking more, Yoshiki's grades went up, and Morishige's social skills were getting a bit better also.
•Sakutarou would always dryly (!) support Kishinuma in his attempts to get with Ayumi. And he would always be the one to support blonde boy after rejections.
•Mayu would love to have calls with both of the boys at the same time, she would be smiling and almost giggling to see them together, she also would love to compare them to parents talking to their daughter on distance.
•Morishige would realize his romantic feelings towards Yoshiki, but he would keep them secret from everyone without making anything, so the blonde boy wouldn't leave him.
•At a random call (Mayu and Morishige only) Suzumoto would confess her feelings to Shige and as soon as she noticed his shocked and sorry face she would start saying that she knows it's not mutual and that's okay.
•Morishige, during the next call after confession (again only Shige and Mayu), would apologize again because he couldn't return the same feelings to Mayu and come out to her, hoping she would accept his preferences. In response, Suzumoto would only laugh slightly and say that she thought so earlier and was ready for such response.
•Sakutarou would tell Mayu about his feelings towards Yoshiki only after a few months after coming out. And again, Mayu would say that she thought so from the looks Shige addressed to the blonde boy.
•At some point, Yoshiki would stop trying to get with Ayumi, just venting to Morishige and Mayu about the amount of time and his strength wasted on Shinozaki as she kept looking only at Satoshi. Sakutarou and Suzumoto supported him as much as they could, Mayu through texts, calls and rare packages she sent, and Shige would take Yoshiki out at meals or inviting him to stay over (playing video games, watching or reading something to kill time, usually they just talk about everything, falling asleep mid-talks).
•As Yoshiki's feelings towards Ayumi vanished, he started to look at Morishige more, complimenting his friend in his thoughts and smiling slightly to Shige each time their gazes met.
•Kishinuma would call Mayu unexpectedly at night, nearly crying and describing all his feelings and thoughts about Sakutarou. Suzumoto wanted to laugh, but she just sighed, listening to Yoshiki's talking and as he went silent Mayu would calmly start explaining his feelings to him, saying that everything is okay, and she's happy how he feels safe talking with about such topics.
•As Yoshiki accepted his feelings towards Morishige, he decided to confess to Shige on the 14th of February, right at Valentine's Day and Shige's birthday. Mayu would help to make a gift for Sakutarou, supporting blond boy all the time and cheering him up right before confession.
•At Valentine's Day, staying after lessons, Yoshiki and Morishige were cleaning the classroom and as Shige turned away, taking decorations off from high places, Kishinuma took out of his bag a small box and stood silent. As soon as Sakutarou turned over, he saw Yoshiki standing in front of him with his head down. The blond boy muttered: "Happy Birthday, Shige," and held out the gift closer to his friend. With trembling hands, Sakutarou opened the box, finding there glassy rose and a small note saying: "I love you." That evening, Mayu was listening to Yoshiki's happy screams as he was sitting at Sakutarou place with boy laying silent and happy nearby.
•Morishige would have big skin care, and when Kishinuma found out about it, he almost lost his consciousness, as he was still sleepy, and Shige's face with some mask was unsettling. Soon enough, Yoshiki would join Sakutarou, making masks too and sitting with in calls with Mayu, who would laugh and put on a mask too, so they all would match.
•Morishige would have an unhealthy habit of hurting himself, so Yoshiki from time to time checked his body and if he found cuts/bruises he would just calmly treat injuries and hug Shige for as long as he could. On the other hand, Kishinuma would have an unhealthy habit of smoking and Sakutarou would always roll eyes, seeing cigarettes and saying how it affects Yoshiki's organism, but he would never push on Kishinuma to drop smoking.
•Mayu would call herself a family psychologist for Morishige and Yoshiki.

Morishige and Yoshiki would have been lactose intolerant.
Morishige knew about this all his life, but Yoshiki probably only found out about it because Shige forced him to undergo a medical examination.
Mayu would always tease them because they were so much alike, and the boys would just smile slightly at her and roll their eyes.
