Do you have any historical au recs? Watching Emma has made me want all the period drama in the whole damn world lol

GAH, I feel you. Emma has left a void in my soul that only copious amounts of historical fiction can fill. Here are a few I love:

lay then the axe to the root (E, 8K) A brilliantly written piece about the Duke of Alderaan and his headstrong governess. Delicious.

Any Duke Will Do (E, 48K) This one is so much fun! Delightfully witty Ben & Rey and a wonderful trope - fake/forced engagement.  

Good Opinion (T, 7K) *Squeals in Arranged Marriage* This one is a gem. You won’t find a better, more utterly charming read.

At the Stroke of Midnight (E, 22K) This one will blow your mind – not only is it set in the Victorian era... it’s a Cinderella AU. And it’s delightful!

Let Them Talk (M, 37K) Another arranged marriage AU, but this time with a distinct Marie Antoinette flair. I especially love how their relationship develops. There’s plenty of banter and pigtail-pulling.

Heavy in Your Heart (E, 14K) This one has one of my favourite bits. I’ll never forget it because the first time I read it, it surprised a cackle out of me and I ended up spilling hot tea all over my lap and burning my cooch. It’s amazing and so, so sweet.

For the Liveliness of Your Mind (T, 4K) What’s that, another arranged marriage AU? YUP. Listen. I know what I’m about. Read it, you won’t regret it.

i could have been wild and I could have been free (but nature played this trick on me) (M, 61K) The burn is slow in this one and it is so worth sticking it out. Enemies (very much only on Rey’s part) to lovers excellence. Will most definitely break your heart, though.

The Crown Jewels (E, WIP) My current obsession, wherein Rey discovers she’s a countess and is betrothed to the prince regent. Sooo good.
