“It’s a so-called no-brainer, that the urgent need to counter human traditions of violence fit perfectly between the two American institutions of power-over-others here in occupied Shoshone-Paiute territory.”

A semi-monastic experience for those who need it, a simple act of hospitality for travelers, and education for humanity's sake.

Love without courage and wisdom is sentimentality, as with the ordinary church member. Courage without love and wisdom is foolhardiness, as with the ordinary soldier. Wisdom without love and courage is cowardice, as with the ordinary intellectual. But the one who has love, courage, and wisdom moves the world.

March 4th 2013
Today at the Kitsap Naval Base in Washington near Tacoma 19 nuclear abolitionists were arrested. The Kitsap base is the third-largest Navy base in the U.S.
The abolitionists were blocking the road while trying to deliver a letter to the Base Commander. Part of their letter states: "Trident II D-5 missiles with their W76 or W88 warheads are illegal under international law and hence are also illegal per the Constitution of the United States. It is a violation of the Nuremberg Principles to threaten destruction of a city, and it is a violation of the Geneva Conventions to threaten use of weapons of indiscriminate power."
Five of the 19 were released on-site with traffic citations for "walking in a roadway" and the other fourteen were held in the brig and issued federal citations for trespassing under USCode 18.
The demonstrators arrested took this action on behalf of humanity at this nuclear submarine base at the end of the Pacific Life Community annual retreat on the anniversary of the nuclear poisoning of the oceans and a specific Japanese fishing boat in 1954. The disastrous nuclear bomb and its fallout led to the nuclear abolition movement in Japan. The Pacific Life Community gatherings include educational, religious, and leisure components near US nuclear sites in the Western States. Next year's gathering will be in Las Vegas, NV.
