Mike had woken up and found that Randall wasn’t there. He was surprised but then he remembered that it was Valentine’s Day. He smiled to himself as he got out of the bed and grabbed his shirt from the floor and pulled it over his head. He was wearing his black t-shirt now and his boxers as he made his way out of the bedroom and into the kitchen. He found Randall hard at work on what appeared to be a breakfast for what he only assumed could be for him. Had he really done all this for him? A smile spread across his features as he made his way over there. “Happy Valentine’s day, babe.” He said, as he moved closer. “I can’t believe you did this for me.”
“It’s really not that much. If I had more time I could have made pancakes and eggs too,” he said shaking his head. He gave Mike a kiss on the cheek. “And I kind of wanted to make sure it’s special since I didn’t buy you a gift. I figured if I went all out and it makes up for not taking you out for dinner.”

Randall had been up for hours in order to make breakfast. He wanted everything to be perfect. He couldn’t afford to take Mike out for a fancy dinner but he could make him a nice breakfast. At least now all the crepes were finished so he just had to layer them to make the cake. It might be a bit over the top but doing something like cupcakes seemed too simple and cliche based on how often they had had them in college. He wanted to do something special, to make up for everything. He added the last couple of layers of crepe and took a couple steps back to look at it: perfect. Now did he risk putting it on a tray and carrying it back to the bedroom or wake up Mike? He was dusting the excess flour of his hands when he saw Mike enter the kitchen, well that made his decision for him. “Happy Valentine’s day, dear.”

“My room would definitely be the safer option.” He said, with a nod of his head. But he had a feeling they weren’t going to his room which was fine. “I’m fine with a little risk.” He smirked, as he allowed Randall to take his hand and guide him over to the couch. Mike sat down on the couch and pulled Randall down on the couch with him. “Whatever will we do to pass the time?” He asked, with a wink.
“Oh I can think of a few things,” Randall answered smirking as he climbed onto Mike’s lap. He wrapped his arms around Mike’s neck before kissing him. “God I’ve missed this.”

“Okay, that sounds better to me too, honestly.” He admitted, with a smile. “You want to go in my room or hang out here?” He asked, curiously. He didn’t really want coffee. He knew what he wanted. But he didn’t want to push Randall.
“Your room would probably be the safer option, less risk of Sullivan coming in and having a heart attack ...but what’s life without a little risk,” Randall replied smirking and grabbing Mike’s hand to guide him over to the couch.

“Thanks.” He replied, as they headed inside of the apartment and Mike shut the door behind them. He turned to Randall. “So, did you want that coffee or did you want to spend some time alone?” He asked, cocking an eyebrow as he looked to the couch. “Or I mean, my room is available. I doubt Sully will come in there without knocking if he did come back.”
“Time alone kind of sounds better. We can get coffee any time but who knows the next chance we’ll have to be alone,” He answered shrugging. “It’s up to you though if you really want coffee we can have coffee.”

“See.. that’s the thing. I’m not sure if it’s a big deal for Sully. And I know it probably sounds ridiculous that I don’t know this about my own boyfriend, and we should talk about it I guess. I just don’t want him to feel like I’m holding him back. Sully’s a big gesture kinda guy, yeah? And well, those don’t always work out so well for me..” Bethany sighed. Now she just felt stupid for ranting.
“Well if you’re not sure just do something small. Buy the guy chocolate or some other sweets. He always seems hungry so he’d probably appreciate it. It’s kind of an awkward thing to bring up. Then do whatever would make you comfortable. If you aren’t a big gesture person than don’t do that, do something smaller. Maybe just get him a card or something,” he suggested shrugging.

“It’s really no problem.” He said, before they made their way to the apartment. He told Randall to wait outside for a moment while he headed inside. He went in and checked for Sully. But, he didn’t find him and was slightly relieved to find that the other man wasn’t home at the moment. He came back to the door and opened it. “He’s not here. Come on in, we have the place to ourselves.”
Randall let out a sigh of relief when Mike came back and said Sullivan wasn’t there. He didn’t know what he would if the other man was there, wasn’t sure how to explain what was going on. “I can’t believe the two of you still live together. The place looks nice though.”

“Honestly, do you think it’s worth it?” Bethany asked, looking across the table at the other person. “I mean splurging for Valentine’s Day and what not? Of course I’m sure it’s special for some people but honestly if you ask me it’s too much. There are too many people out and about so the last place I want to be is a busy restaurant, and why do we need a commercialized holiday to tell someone we love them? I mean the cards are cute, I guess but it’s just all.. so much. Sorry, I hate to sound like a debbie downer, I’ve just always been a bit.. stressed out by the whole thing.”
Randall looked up from his phone and the florist website he had been looking at. “Kind of? Well depending upon what you mean on splurging. I mean I’m just getting flowers or like chocolates, maybe ask him out to dinner. It is cliche and very commercialized but it’s nice excuse you know. He doesn’t have to ask why I bought flowers or anything. But if it’s not a big deal for you or Sullivan you don’t have to do anything.”

“Like I said, I’m going to check.” He said, with a shrug. “I know it is. I didn’t mean to bring it up. I promise it won’t happen again. At least, I’ll try not to bring it up again on purpose.” He said, with a sigh. “Come on, let’s go back to my place.”
“Right sorry. I’m just being a little too cautious,” he apologized blushing. “It’s okay. I know you didn’t mean to start something,” he replied before following Mike to the apartment.

With his arms, Sullivan gestured that the aisle was indeed empty and that he had plenty of space left to move his cart away from him. “Please, be my guest. We’re all on a hurry here and trying to catch up to this storm,” he said with a face, trying not to let Randall’s ‘center of the universe’ attitude get to him. Sullivan had indeed moved his cart so it wasn’t touching his and pushed it to the end of the aisle where there was a product he had wanted when all of a sudden he saw the lights flickering above him. You didn’t need to be a genius to figure it out, really.
With a groan, James quickly moved towards where the exit was, or close enough to see what was going on only to see security blocking them because the wind was too strong to leave them open. “Oh, great,” he said with a groan. He was stuck inside that grocery store for who knew how long, let alone he was stuck inside of it with Randall nonetheless. At least there was food and water.
“Sure you’re not gonna crash into me again,” Randall muttered unable to keep the comment to himself. He was so annoyed from the store and all the people in it that he couldn’t control his temper or filter. He had started to move away, down the aisle when the lights flickered. Oh no that could not be a good sign.
He abandoned his cart for a second to see if leaving was still an option. Food be damned he’d rather leave than be stuck here for who knows how long. “Fuck,” he swore when he saw the exit blocked. Great he was stuck in a store with toe one person he had been trying to avoid. He didn’t really believe in god or fate by right now it certainly felt like some sort of deity was trying to fuck with him.

Sullivan had taken it upon himself to grab the last supplies needed for the storm. It was really some chips and cookies and maybe something extra for the night and the day. He had asked for Bethany to stay in his apartment just so they could pass the storm together. With them and Archie, he’d was bound to be a lot more relaxed about everything, let alone, he’d go crazy with worry if by some reason she had an episode during the storm and he couldn’t make to her. At least, like this, he’d be able to take care of her. His cart was almost done, turning the corner to pay when he crashed with another cart. No wonder, since the store was packed with everyone trying to get a few things before the storm really hit the city.
“Sorry, wasn’t seeing much there,” said Sullivan before looking up and seeing Randall. Well, what a way to start that storm. “Like I said, didn’t see you there,” he said before the man could already bitch at him and whatever else he could think of.
Randall hadn’t really wanted to have Mike stay at his apartment for a long time but it sounded better than being alone for the storm or being stuck at Mike’s apartment with Sullivan. It would be awfully difficult to explain what he was doing there without coming clean to Sullivan about him and Mike being a thing again and he wasn’t sure if Mike wanted that yet. He might have let Mike loan him some money to help pay for some snacks for the storm to make sure they had enough and was at the grocery store shopping.
He hated how he had waited until the last minute when the store was packed. There was barely enough space to push the cart and he wasn’t surprised when he got hit. When he saw it was Sullivan who hit him he groaned. Great he ran into the one person he had been trying to avoid. “Yeah sure whatever you say. You were trying to hit me or not. Don’t care have bigger problems like a storm to deal with. Now if you don’t mind moving I’d like to get out of here before I either end up stuck here with you or the food I want being sold out.”

“Alright, we can go back to my place then. I’m sure that Sully won’t be there. I’m glad that you are beginning to believe that this is really happening. I mean, because it is.” He offered, with a small smile. “No, I know. I was just trying to be nice. I didn’t mean anything by it. i’m sorry.”
“You’re positive he won’t be? I don’t want to start anything between the two of you. Well if it was a dream something bad wouldn’t have happened by now. My dreams aren’t usually this sweet,” he said shrugging. “It’s fine. I get that, money’s just a bit of a sore spot for me.”

“Well, I have coffee back at the apartment and if we check and see if Sully is there then it won’t cost us anything at all. Like you said he probably won’t be there. It’ll only take me a second to check if he’s in the apartment. But you did say you might want to be around other people. So if you’d rather we find a coffee shop, I don’t mind getting it this time.” He shrugged. “I mean, either way is fine with me, I’m just excited to spend time together.”
“Coffee back at your place is fine. I’m good with wherever you want to go. I mostly wanted to be around other people to help prove this is really happening but I’m starting to properly believe it now anyways. You don’t have to do that, pay for me. I’m never gonna be as well off as you, at least not for a while, so please don’t feel like you have to pay for me.”

“I know to carry them around all the time is kinda tricky. I keep extra earplugs with me. At least one in each bag. I get that people sometimes talk a lot, so I’m always prepared,” said Sullivan, not even commenting on the fact that Randall had gone to super whiny to now saying one word to him. Which he took as a good sign.
“Yeah that all sounds fascinating,” Randall responded rolling his eyes and not really listening to Sullivan. The man no longer held his interest. He was getting to be just as annoying as the people Randall was complaining about originally.

“I’m sure we can find a coffee place nearby.” He offered, with a shrug. He understood that good things didn’t happen to him very often. They hadn’t happened to Mike recently either. They did happen to him more often than they did to Randall. He knew that for sure. But, he’d been focusing on work lately. “A bug invasion? I’m just imagining a bunch of little bugs with guns invading” He laughed, lightly. “But yeah, you should definitely move soon. I don’t know what the odds are that he’s home. I mean, he might be out with her or busy with work stuff. We can always swing by and I can go in and see if he’s home if you want to go back there.”
“It’s not so much finding one that’s the problem but finding one that won’t put a big dent in my budget,” he mumbled rubbing at the back of his neck. He felt very awkward talking about money. “You know ants or something worse. That would be a lot more fun than what I’m picturing,” he replied chuckling. “As soon as I can find a better place I can afford I will. That sounds like an okay plan.”
