Advertisements
Every time I go to any website I get ads on the page. I wanted to create the same kind of “real” feel to my website. Therefore I screenshotted some ads from the web that I think go with my target customer’s interests and would be hypothetically perfect fit for Re Vera.

Opening Images to the Website
I had the idea of creating an opening page before the actual website, where the tone and theme of the site will be already recognized by the audience. I created four separate images in order for them to come-up randomised each time a person goes on the site, this way they don’t get to see the exact same image every time.

Photoshoot Final Images
My idea is to call the shoot “He, She, Me”, because of the androgyny behind the inspiration I had. The clothes being presented are a mixture of both female and male garments. Nastya is being portrayed as two people-twins, because of the symbolic meaning behind the number 2. There as 2 specified genders, 2 maximas- YES & NO, White & Black, so with this shoot we laugh over the rule of the two’s. Sarcasm portrayed throughout couple of images.

Articles I chose to publish on Re Vera
Because Re Vera has a set theme and way into which the articles should lead I had to choose which ones from the previously made list will cut it to the websites surface. The three main ones that I also handed in are:
Thom Brown’s Spring18′ Parallel Reality-
->runway review, picking on the highlights of the event's theme and feel, talking about the garments presented
Demna Gvasalia / How the Soviet Union Gave Birth to One of The Most Valued and Trend-Setting Street Wear Designers of the 21 Century-
-> different perspective of a biography, Demna Gvasalia as post-Soviet character, and the ways the regime has influenced him and his works
Is Sky The Лimit? -
-> an interview with a young emerging photographer - Bogi, talking about his life, ideas, aims and current achievements, touching on the post-Soviet angle again
The rest of the articles are all “cosmetic” in order to give the website a real feel. They are :
-Gucci Going Fur Free (I’ve written) [NEWS]
-COS x STUDIO SWINE Make Magic Bubbles During Miami Art Basel (text from FORBES: https://www.forbes.com/sites/abinlot/2017/12/08/cos-and-studio-swine-make-magic-with-bubbles-during-art-basel/#78ba0b2f30d8 ) [Art&Design]

Gucci Going Fur Free
Ideas for article (bullet points)
Ciao Gucci Going Fur-free - Step into the Future!
Ever since the end of S/S18 Fashion Week at the end of September, people have been talking about Gucci’s early October announcement “Going Fur Free”. The brand’s president & chief executive Marco Bizzarri announced the decision over a talk at The London College of Fashion on the 11th of Oct.
M.Bizzarri - "Do you think using furs today is still modern? I don't think it's still modern and that's the reason why we decided not to do that. "It's a little bit outdated. Creativity can jump in many different directions instead of using furs."
• Firm is Going Fur free from SS2018, joining the Fur-Free-Alliance
• Move toward the Future and sustainability
• Gucci live talk with Alessandro Michele and Jared Leto on INSTAGRAM LIVE 6th November’17
• Alessandro Michele talking live from Rome, from Gucci’s office ( 8 o’clock pm)
• A.M. working on pre/fall collection at the moment
• A. M. spoke to Marco Bizzarri & Kering for new chapter without fur-> the company was sensitive didn’t like to work with a lot of fur from different animals -> but now NO fur
• New chapter, discontinue doing fur
• A.M -> Loves animals, loves fashion, love & passion for animals
• A.M- put a hand on your heart and do something else-> to create another energy
• 12,000 people on insta live watched it while being live
• A.M. right moment to build for the company, new creativity, “every single material is like language…creativity is something that needs a restriction. It’s a way to create something interesting.”
• M. -“its not something that matches with fashion it matches with life , a big discussion- trying to translate from a creative point of view” ; Gucci’s president & chief executive Mr Bizzarri said: "Being socially responsible is one of Gucci's core values, and we will continue to strive to do better for the environment and animals."
• “it’s like a musician that cant use a note, you need to search for a new way to express”
• Gucci people are happy, revealed because it made everybody very guilty
• Fur outside food chain-> have to respect the chain
• Gucci has stopped using angora (rabbit, sweaters etc. made out of it)- because they don’t know how people get the hair off
• For every material the design team wants to use the company has to check the food chain
• A.M. happy that people’s articles, press as well, are positive because of their decision – big decision and moment for the community
• Beautiful gesture, statement, experiment, huge game-changer
• The journey continues!
• It’s Jared because he doesn’t wear fur, even has denied of wearing what A.M. has given him because of the fur
• Armani announced last year (2016) it will no longer feature fur in its collections, also Calvin Klein & Ralph Lauren
• "With this announcement, Gucci has signaled to the entire luxury fashion industry that it's time to move away from using fur."
When the announcement came out:
Shrimps is an English brand strictly working with faux fur only!

- The world needs a colorful tale to be told, because of the times we live in (political changes, terrorism, hunger, poverty, health issues) -> Is this why Thom Browne did it? Did he succeed in taking our mind elsewhere?

Mood for Re vera
After creating the logo and the avatar I did a colour scheme of the websites fonts etc. The image in the middle is a texture board. All of the textures I put together give me the feeling of calm and relaxing but at the same time intriguing and pretty subject. The avatar I made for both the website & the journal, is made out of a square and a circle (squaring the circle), the two primary geometrical figures. Inside there are the first two letters of the two words that make up the brand’s name. Ancient geometers have proposed that to build a circle inside a square must be the most precise and difficult task. It is a metaphor of achieving the impossible. My avatar is not precise in its measurements, ie. the circle doesn’t fit exactly in the square as I am trying to show the possible, by changing the way people look at things.
The pictures I’ve put underneath the avatar are to show the mood the website will be built on. Something edgy and interesting, but also calm and eye pleasing. Some more images to convey the message are :
(all images are taken from Pinterest.com, but done on Photoshop by me-combination & style)

Decisions for the look of Re vera
My final decision about the website’s logo is this one:
I chose it because I think that it presents all the things I listed in the previous post. I played around with Photoshop in order to get the first look of the site which will be posted on the journal’s main “image look”. I was thinking of a simple, realistic look, in the sense of colour usage and bold writing. The avatar i chose for both the web page & the journal is :
Some of the images I will use would be those:
Option 1:
Option 2:
Option 3:
Option 4:
Option 5:
Option 6:
As a final decision for the journal’s look I stopped myself on this one:
I made some corrections based on the second option. Moved the circle of the guy’s feet, resized the bodies and made the logo bigger, so the “-journal-” looked perfectly centered when entering the page.
The domain of the journal’s page is re vera behind the scenes, as I thought it would be an interesting analog brands can have. Every magazine/ website/ other publishing bases etc. have a lot of ideas about posts to be done. But not every idea actually meets the surface of the internet. So I thought this is a great opportunity, even though not everything is put on the web page, here you can have a look at the broader picture. Where the ideas are born, and some are eventually presented to the public by the use of the main site.

IDEAS
Re vera- coming from Latin the true translation of it is “in truth”. I chose this to be my title of the site as it represents the idea behind my project, and it’s to say the truth. Most of the web pages we follow daily are all with a similar ethos, but di they really go into saying what they want? Do they really dig deeper? Or is it all just MMB- marketing, money & business? Whatever they are, I don’t want to be. That was my initial idea. To differ in the 21st Century is something that is almost unachievable. So by starting this project, I set a goal to myself, to be different, to have a content of a site that is interesting and new to its readers.
Re vera - title
Re vera - logo
In truth, we believe - saying which represents the idea
I looked at several logos I like :
I created a couple of logos by the use if Photoshop. The first column of the tryouts was just a test at the beginning to see what exact features I want the logo to present. Afterwards, the other column shows logos which in my opinion all go with the story I want to tell. For example, the first one of the first column reminds me of the logo of the brand Oilily, a Dutch clothing brand for boys and girls, which I don’t want the site to be associated with, as it is not a children's brand. Therefore the second column is all logos that remind me of what I want to show: power, design, cool-ness, readable, understandable, relatable.
Reading about logo-designs and the psychology behind it, I came across a definition which states that any logo is made for the purpose of easier identification. The psychology of a logo design is the study of any meaning that can be seen in a logo other than the brand identification. So I created a list of "characteristics” that the logo of the website should have: brand identity, trust, dependable, strength, creative, wise, bold, exciting, confident, friendly & imaginative. Those are all the thoughts that should come up in one's mind after seeing the logo I will put on the webpage.
So as a final decision, I was speculating between the last two options of the second column.

Let’s Gerber!
Even though she turned 16 (which is the legal age limit for being a model) four days before the fashion weeks began, is it morally right that she is underage and left to take part in the model’s community
- The line between top models and Instagram stars has faded :
If you do not have a 100,000 followers + on social media you are not worth it
+
Is it fair on the other models who are “nobody's” daughter
- Has she taken away the spotlight from the Hadid’s and Kendall Jenner?
- Is the spotlight a matter of a couple of seasons?
-Everybody loves Kaia (“She's one of the kindest and sweetest young women I have the pleasure of working with. She's major!” Pat McGrath)- nostalgia for the 90′s?
- Shows she walked: Calvin Klein, Alexander Wang, Marc Jacobs, Burberry, Coach, Fenty Puma, Miu Miu, Prada, Saint Laurent, Chanel, Moschino, Versace, Chloé, Off- White, Fendi, Bottega Veneta

Me , Myself & I
This is my persona grid. It is a grid of images which represent an aspect of my opinion about my life and what makes who I am as a person. The first top left image represents my idea of RELAX. I have put a place underneath trees, somewhere in a forest, with an autumn feel. For me, this is a dream place of relaxation. It is quiet but alive. Beautiful, but mystical. It is a place to hide if you don’t want to be found.
The second image, which is the middle one on the top row, is a representation of the TRIBE I connect myself to. It’s my favorite painting by Gustav Klimt. The Kiss is from 1908, representation of love and lust, of one perfect moment in time. I chose this as a tribe because I like to connect myself to artists. You do not have to be a painter in order to be one. I think everything a man does, creates, is HIS art.
The third picture , on the right top corner, is the IDEAL LIVING SPACE. A fireplace with champagne and a warm blanket, somewhere in the woods, is a dream of mine. I live in a similar environment back at my home, so maybe it has a deeper connection to that.
The fourth image is the one of a LABEL. I chose my favourite one- BALENCIAGA. A brand I want to connect to, to live with, to learn from. It is one of the biggest fashion houses in the world. With a high brand value and heritage. I like the brand because it’s very versatile. Ever since Demna Gvasalia was appointed the main creative director of the brand, he has brought back the amazing potential of the house. He comes from a Soviet background, like me, so maybe I like his take on the brand so much because I connect and see where he is actually coming from.
The sixth image is one of my ICONS. Anna Dello Russo & Giovanna Battaglia. They are both icons in the 21ct Century Fashion World. Anna D. is n Italian fashion journalist, and also head of Japanese VOGUE. Giovanna Battaglia is also a fashion journalist, worked in the Japanese VOGUE & currently fashion editor of W Magazine. They are my icons because I like them as people. I know that by looking at social media and other platforms you do not actually know the person. But there is this “vibe” to them, that you automatically know they are amazing characters, good souls and very hard working women- which is what I want to become one day.
I connect myself with the weird. The one that nobody likes because it’s different. It might be scary, it might be loud, too funny, or too “Weird”. I like this kind of music, people, movies, clothes even. Therefore for the seventh image which is MOVIE, I choose the SIlence of the lambs. My favorite genre is scary, thrillers. I enjoy watching unpredictable, complicated, and even unexplainable films. This movie represents ME. My opinion, my desire, my attitude toward the world I live in.
The eight image is CAUSE. I struggled on that one because you can hardly express what you want to do through one picture. I want to give eyes to the blind, give wisdom to the unthoughtful, open the ears to the ones that are busy to hear- symbolically of course. This is my cause, not only for this project. I like to think that people have to do good, so well comes back to us.
For a DREAM WORKPLACE, I put the globe. The WORLD is our oyster. We better use it wisely. I would like to have a job that allows me to travel, experience, see and be. I would like to witness and feel every part of the planet because after all is it really that big?
Lastly, I would like to mention the picture in the middle. The SELFIE.
selfieˈsɛlfi/
noun
informal
a photograph that one has taken of oneself, typically one taken with a smartphone or webcam and shared via social media.
The disease every person in the 21 Century goes through. If you are lucky you stop doing it, but some get to other extremes. I witnessed how every person in my class put their favourite image of themselves on this persona grid. It is true that we as human, and especially females like to look good. We want to present the best of ourselves in front of the world.
And then I started thinking, if we had no image in the middle and a random person looked at our persona grids, will they be interested to meet the individual, the FACE behind it all?
