Came across a poem I wrote when we were homeless last year.

I see the beauty in the world

It’s like jewels behind the glass at a jewelry store you go into knowing you can’t afford a single item.

You go with your friends and you tell the shopkeepers you’re just looking

They look at you and know you can’t afford 1/10 the cost of one of these things

But they’re polite and let you walk around

You look at the cases

Rings

Necklaces

You think how nice it would be to own one

Some day you think to yourself

Some day

I’ll have a good enough job

Or my soulmate will get down on one knee

Then

Then I’ll have the beauty for myself

But you know that’s not true

This beauty isn’t for you

It’s for richer people

Happier people

Better people

You don’t deserve this beauty

Yoire not good enough for it

So you sigh and thank the shop keeper and leave

I see the beauty

I see people in their homes

I see the ducks looking for algae and little bugs

I see the leaves

I feel the sun

But it’s a diamond behind a glass case

Not for me

I don’t deserve it

Love how everyone decided that the 80’s action movie campaign would be the gayest and most transgender campaign. Like yeah macho detective is trying to make out with every relatively hot man in the vicinity. Yeah the mob boss is bisexual and borrows a car from his ex boyfriend. Yeah the well known masculine hot guy in town is dropped into the body of a femme fatale cat burglar largely know for being feminine and hot and he’s oddly chill with it. Yeah the high school girl is oddly fine with being in a giant mob boss guys body.
