Seeing how supported Charlie was by friends, family and teachers made me realise how much damage the school system did to me when I was going through mental health issues at secondary school.

Hearing Charlie being told it’s not his fault for how he’s feeling broke me. My teachers and parents made me feel like I was willingly letting my life fall apart and made me feel awful for suffering from depression and anxiety. I was already going through a tough time and my teachers made me feel 10 times worse.

Every child going through mental health issues should be met with the same patience and understanding Charlie was. I honestly feel like a decade of shame has been lifted off my shoulders after watching this season, especially episode 4.

Thank you to all the creatives who worked on this show, you’ve created something so healing and important.
