Haha Vania mother lore as promised

So so so Vania and Cole’s mothers would’ve been besties you can’t change my mind. Also they were friends with Gleck. It’s also cool that Vania and Cole’s mothers match the blades of deliverance. Also I drew Vania’s mum struggling to carry Lilly, and also her doting on her betrothed much to Lilly’s dismay.

Also a Lilly hc but she was probably not too public about her own love life but kept the locket, taking quiet moments to herself to be excited to see Lou when she gets back from ninja missions. Apart from the fact that Vania’s mum and Gleck catch her and think she’s adorable for it. Btw Gleck is me when any tall person picks me up.

Anyways Vangelis and V’s mum are the meme but Vangelis wants to commit violations of human rights. Also I wonder what she found… it’s hard being queen (when the king is kinda a psycho)

Illegals AU

Inspired by classic ‘on the run’ stories, I introduce to you the Illegals AU!

Declared illegal by the Ninjago Council, elemental masters have spent much of their lives on the run, hunted down in order to be experimented on so their powers can be used to help the country. They are struggling to survive in a world that wants to take their freedom away.

Wu is an incredibly powerful elemental master, whose ability allows him to remain above detection and he uses that power to save lives. He does his best to keep tabs on elemental masters, offering them sanctuary at his Monastery or looking out for them.

But when his brother resurfaces, looking to start a war, he needs to collect the Elements of Creation and bring them to safety before Garmadon can. He knows where they are, knows where their parents hid them, now it’s just a race to pick them up first.

Yes, i agree that all the sibling pairs calling each other 'brother' and 'sister' is really annoying and not at all realistic - i for one would rather throw my laptop into traffic than call my sister 'sis' - but if we're trying to think of in-universe explanations for this trend then i think there are two possibilities:

There are a few Asian cultures with honorific systems that give forms of address to siblings. For example (at least according to my research; correct me if im wrong!), if you are referring to an older brother, in Japanese might call them 'niisan', 'ge' in Chinese, 'kuya' in Filipino, 'hyung' in Korean...you get the idea. And since Ninjago is mostly based on a variety of Asian cultures, its not unreasonable to assume they may have some kind of in-universe honorific system going on.

Theyre all trans and keep calling each other 'bro' and 'sis' as like a gender-affirming thing

I’m watching cutscenes from the shadow of ronin and it’s hit or miss but some of this dialogue is hilarious.

Like Nya muttering under her breath about owing Kai money that he currently doesn’t remember. Or when they’re worrying about eating berries in the toxic bog and Wu’s straight up like “not my problem”.

i really love the ninjago movie the most. u know why? Because Lloyd is the happiest and he allows himself to be himself, if that makes any sense. i mean, i do love the series, but just, lloyd deserves a happiness without constant trauma 🫠

and just wanting to draw green bean, i ended up drawing the whole team. which took me almost two weeks. yeah.

ninjago is everything. it’s anime. it’s a comic book. it’s star wars. it’s fantasy. it’s atla. it’s a superhero story. it’s a ghost story haunted by a morality system so deterministic it can’t be escaped even in death. it’s also got literal ghosts. it’s got enough worldbuilding to fill entire books but also a timeline so broken it’s retconned its own most important scenes out of existence. gravity is a manipulatable element. so is the concept of shape. sentient androids exist alongside sapient snakes and skeletons and genies and dragons and everything. it’s got a multiverse that carries the corpses of the shows it’s outlasted. it’s terrible. it’s beautiful. it’s been in continuous production for over a decade. it’s the most frustrating experience of my life. it’s so, so much fun.
