I was going to write a meta on why Jackie’s reciprocated feelings for Shauna are so blatant when you read between the lines of her scenes, but just letting the show speak for itself in video form makes it even clearer. I love how much their relationship is layered in subtext and double meaning, and the further into the show we get the more this is all cemented as totally intentional.

Okay, this isn't as 'finished' as I had envisioned, but I can feel myself getting bored with it. So to avoid it becoming yet another abandoned wip, for now, it's done.

I'll probably come back and have a noodle around, adding details like the patterns on their shirts, fabric textures, easter eggs, and posters on the wall.

"Rabbit starvation," a survival concern in which eating only rabbit causes you to starve from lack of fat, no matter how much protein you get from the meat. Jackie's parents insisting that she loved rabbits, displaying and gifting rabbit statuettes in her memory, their image of her as a perfect doll for them to display. Jackie: "I mean, what even is a rabbit? A squirrel with floppy ears and a pom-pom on its ass?" Rabbits using a surface to hide something less glamorous but more nutritive. Rabbits as a mask Jackie projects into the world, even so far as to hide from Shauna behind it. Shauna wanting more, knowing there's something there she isn't getting, craving the richness of the real Jackie underneath the rabbit mask, starving even as she gorges on what Jackie can give her. "That's not what you're hungry for."

I know I'm not finished with my current project (I will finish it I will finish it I will finish it), but uhhhh does anyone wanna bounce some ideas my way for a cute shaunahat moment that took place sometime before the shotgun divorce happened?

I dont really see people talk about enough the fact shauna probably spent so much time frustrated with jackie because she was in some way aware of jackie's facade. like imagine your childhood best friend starts putting on a fake exterior with you (and we know jackie does this we literally see her twist and omit the truth constantly, especially with shauna and especially when talking about jeff) like would that not feel insulting? even though its not at all malicious and almost entirely about jackie's fears and insecurities, shauna still had to experience probably years of the person she cared about most basically lying to her face. jackie constantly keeps shauna at arms length emotionally, making fun of her to avoid difficult or deep conversations, and just lying about what shes experiencing emotionally in general. shes not honest about her relationship with her boyfriend. not honest about the pressures she feels. like shauna gets a lot of heat for not saying anything but really both of them were as bad as each other. just because jackie was speaking doesnt mean what she was saying was honest. I think on some level shauna could tell that and it was what was feeding that intense resentment she felt.
