𝐴 𝑆𝑖𝑚𝑝𝑙𝑒 𝐹𝑖𝑟𝑒 𝑅𝑖𝑡𝑢𝑎𝑙 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝑆𝑎𝑚ℎ𝑎𝑖𝑛 2020

This year has been painful, collectively and personally, but Samhain 2020 presents a huge opportunity to honor those we’ve lost and to regain some of our power. On Saturday October 31st, 2020 there will be a full moon (a Blue Moon) in Taurus. This simple fire ritual can be customized to include other elements, such as important colors, foods, scents, and sounds.

What You’ll Need:

🔥 Fire (in any safe, manageable form. Preferably outside at night)

🧸 Something representative of the person/creature/thing you’d like to honor

🥐 An offering. Depending on whom it’s for, it can be a piece of food, a drink, a note, music, or an item.

📝 Paper and a writing utensil

What to do:

1. Make your fire and ensure that it is strong. If you’d like to you can use a specific type of wood or kindling that is suited to your intentions.

2. Cut or rip the paper into strips or pieces. Write one thing that has caused you pain or sadness on each piece.

3. Place the representative items around the fire (not so close that they’ll burn!)

4. Feed each strip of paper to the fire. While doing so, try to feel the burden of them grow weaker and weaker until they lose their power over you. As they burn visualize their weight on your life disintegrating.

5. One by one, hold or mentally go over the offering if it’s intangible. Think about whom it’s for, why you chose it for them, and what you hope it will bring them (happiness? comfort? satisfaction?). When you feel that you’ve sufficiently envisioned your intentions for the offering, either leave it at your spirit altar, burn it, or release it into the universe.

6. Thank the person/creature/thing you’re honoring for what they contributed to your life. Try to settle yourself into a place of appreciation, acceptance, and balance. Take as much time as you need to feel the warmth of the fire and bask in its energy. Let yourself process everything that you’ve overcome since last Samhain and recognize that even though it wasn’t easy, you made it.
