That response merited a chuckle from the vampire. If Elk were nervous from Rei’s appearance, well, it wouldn’t be surprising nor would he hold it against him. He wouldn’t be the first, and possibly not the last. Still, it was easy to believe this boy was just an anxious sort.
“I’ve been finding my way just fine. The island isn’t so much a frightening place as it is... Well, perplexing.” He let out a breathy laugh after this remark. Solitude was a difficult place to explain. “I find myself wondering where the inhabitants find so much energy for chaos.”
Elk quickly realizes how his attitude might be taken the wrong way, and he does his best to correct himself–which isn’t really much on his part, aside from offering a nervous sort-of smile.
“O-oh…gosh, sorry, you’re not frightening at all…! It’s nice to meet you too, Rei-kun.” Elk pauses, almost imagining what sort of input Mia might have if she were here. When greeted with silence, Elk shuffles his feet and looks down.
“…Umm, have you been finding your way okay? I get lost sometimes, still, but there’s nothing to be scared of.” Elk is reassuring himself more than anything else. There’s plenty to be afraid of.

“The sun’s far too bright to participate in these sorts of activities... I think I’ll bide my time inside.”
Why did the gods bring a vampire to an island like this one?

Rei chuckled at the response he’d earned. Dave had jokes-- all four of them did. The Aoi twins worked just as seamlessly, as if they were one individual, and tended to wear matching outfits, but Rei knew better than to actually believe that these four were quadruplets for more than just the reason of their identical names. He had seen the bulletin board, after all.
“What a lively household you all must live in then. Hmhmhm.” Rei gave a smile and a curious tilt of his head before continuing. “So then I wonder, why have you four gathered in the hallway, looking like a group of suspicious children?”
Dave is the master of time!!!! (open)
The Daves looked up at Rei with the same expression of slight surprise, as if standing in an apartment complex was such a secretive thing.
“You guessed it, we’re quadruplets who like wearing the same outfit. Also, our parents suck at naming things, so we’re all named Dave.” The four of them nodded in unison, and a different Dave spoke up.
“Yeah,” pointing at the other three Daves he went down the list, “Dave here is a real riot, and Dave sure can make some music. Not to mention Dave who’s really good at fighting. But don’t forget, Dave and Dave don’t get along as well as Dave and Dave, so if you see those two together, make sure to walk the other way, because It’ll result in an all-out Dave brawl… though Dave usually steps in before things get too out of hand.”
The other three Daves nodded again.

“Do you mean bartending or doubling as a bouncer?” He joked.

The first of her actions were enough to be a surprise. She lifted him so easily in spite of the significant size difference between the two of them. Well, it made sense that she was so certain of her ability to lift him, then. The more surprising thing, however, happened once she had already begun to carry him in her arms. With little warning of what would happen, she lifted not only him but herself as well off of the ground and into the air.
Looking towards the ground that seemed so much farther away than normal, he moved his arms to hold onto the woman. There was hardly any strength behind the action - the sun had managed to drain him of that easily - but it didn’t appear that he’d fall any time soon regardless. His look of surprise had already passed by the time that they landed and she lowered him to the ground.
“That was... something. Being an immortal vampire certainly has its perks if I have the opportunity to experience new surprises such as that one.” Feeling himself become wobbly again, he reached out a hand to steady himself with the building’s support. “Thank you very much for your help, but I must go inside now. The sun’s done more damage than I had thought. If possible, I’d like to thank you properly in the future.”
She couldn’t help but smile about his responses. It was natural to think she’d have some difficulty in this task–she was smaller than him, had no muscle to show..and to her knowledge, he only thought of her as another human. She could remember happier times in the session, however, before she was even a goddess..when fellow teammates would be tired or unconscious. It wasn’t rare of her to give them a hand and carry them home–especially after she did ascend.
Still, it was kind of him to consider her first, despite the state he was currently in..
“Aaa, it’s sweet of you to worry, but it’s alright..! It’s been a little while, but I’ve done this sort of thing before..”
Moving closer, she carefully helped him into a bridal position while slowly lifting him up, and gently floating slightly upwards–it would be easiest to fly him to the house, after all. Giving him a few seconds to hopefully register the situation–and to make sure she had a good hold on him–she flew off with him to the second Modern House. Going no faster than a sprinting speed, and doing her best to stick closer to shaded areas along the way, they arrived a few seconds short of five minutes.
Carefully adjusting and setting him down, she made sure he was steady before giving a smile.
“Here we are..! Welcome to your new home..!”

Visiting Leo and his housemates was a normal thing. What Rei saw on his way out was definitely not. Well, surely it was no more odd than anything else on the island. Goat gods and many of the other mysterious entities that inhabited Solitude were a bit difficult to one up. So many strange occurrences... seeing four versions of Dave standing around, conversing as though it was normal, wasn’t too hard to take in.
“Oh my~ What’s this?” Rei spoke up as he approached behind one of the many Daves standing around. “More than seeing double, I’m seeing four Strider-kuns now. Are you all siblings? Fufu. You certainly say odd things as a group, don’t you?”
Dave is the master of time!!!! (open)
Now that he was settled in on the island, Dave was starting to get bored again. He was too used to having crazy-powerful god-like entities trying to kill him all the time to just sit around and enjoy a peaceful island vacation. He needed shenanigans. Nay, he needed full on JAPES.
Dave started his master plan by creating three time duplicates of himself. One from a week from a month from now, and one from two months from now. This way, they could avoid any unnecessary paradoxes in the case of the plan running over schedule. The three Daves met outside his (their?) apartment, and began scheming. Oh yes. What would follow would be the greatest thing ever devised… if the three of them could come up with anything that is. Mostly they just talked about how cool the island is, and how fresh their beats were. The answer was a decisive “Fresh as milk straight out of the udder of a cow that ate nothing but the grass of Avalon.” Straight poetic business. Just like always.
The three Daves kept talking, forgetting the fact that all three of them were out in the open.

This person was certainly shy, wasn’t he? In spite of how he’d been the one to approach Rei, it wasn’t difficult to notice his nervousness. What a change from the loud sort the vampire was used to.
“There’s no need to be so anxious. I’d like to think I’m not too frightening.” He spoke with a gentle smile. “I’m Sakuma Rei. It’s a pleasure to meet you, Elk-kun.”
Now that he thinks about it, Elk wouldn’t typically speak to strangers like this if he had Mia around. He wouldn’t feel the need to talk to anyone else if she were here. Alas, loneliness pushes him right into the fray of socialization.
“Maybe you’re right…Oh, my name is Elk!” Elk makes brief eye contact, but is quickly and easily intimidated before glancing elsewhere. “It’s nice to meet you, Mister…?”

Rei couldn’t help but to be a bit surprised by the girl’s response. She could get him home quickly but it would require picking him up? What exactly did she have in mind? Unless she intended to pick him up and carry him the full extent of the walk, he couldn’t imagine what her plan was beyond that. It wasn’t as though she appeared to be weak, but he would quickly become very heavy for any average human to carry.
“I’d prefer not to trouble you by keeping you, although it sounds as though troubling you has become unavoidable, hm? I may be quite thin, but I’m sure I’d become heavy for you very quickly.”
Somehow, he felt that wouldn’t discourage her too much. This girl gave off a very distinct impression of being too kind for her own good. He would rather not see her push herself too far for his sake.
“While I don’t mind being carried, I have no doubt it would put a great deal of strain on you, especially given the distance. I’ll leave the choice to you, but please consider yourself in the process.”
“The Community Center is nearby..there’d be plenty of shade, as well as refreshments, if you need them..”
As well as towels, changes of clothing, a kitchen, a few bathrooms, a washroom, and a couple spare bedrooms. From what she could remember, some residents who hadn’t been assigned to houses, or couldn’t quite make it back to them, could stay in the center for some time.. It really was a room of requirement..
She didn’t feel very comfortable with the idea of leaving him there and simply pointing him in the direction of his assigned home, though.. If she did, and something were to happen to him, she’d feel horrible.. She knew she could get him to his home easily, but if he wasn’t open to the idea, then she could always wait and walk with him. It wasn’t like she had anything else to do, today..
“I’d be happy to stay back and help direct you home, if you’d like me to.. I’d feel really terrible if I left, and you ended up collapsing, later.. Um..if..you would like to make it there quickly, though..I’m certain I could do that, as well.. It..sort of involves picking you up, though..so, if you aren’t comfortable with that, I won’t do it.”

“Oh, I can tell. I’ve never seen someone look so frightened.” Rei responded with a chuckle.
“Well, I’m very happy to hear that. I’ve never worked a job like this one before.”
“You’ve got me shaking in my boots.” He said, leaning back against the counter.
“You’ve done very well so far. Congratulations.”

“Am I so frightening? Well, if it keeps the peace, then that suits me just fine.”
His expression lightened from what it had been a moment ago, a much gentler smile in comparison taking its place as he returned to his location behind the bar.
“Oh my, Rei, you’re so scary.” Izaya sang with a smirk behind his coffee.

Seeing the boy’s disappointment, Rei couldn’t help but to feel sorry for him. He could relate to that feeling of wanting to return to a home off the island. The gods didn’t leave you with any choice once they’d decided to snatch you away from the things and people that you treasure.
“I arrived only a week ago. It hasn’t been long at all in comparison.” Tilting his head at the other, he couldn’t help but to frown. “Don’t sound so sad, child. I’m sure there’s a way to leave somehow. What’s your name?”
@reisakunyas from here
“Ah, um…” Elk had asked, hoping that there might be a chance that being here could be temporary; that people could come and go as they pleased–maybe it’s true, for all he knows, but there are too many things about this place that he fails to understand.
“Mm…mhm, yeah, I’ve been here for…a couple of months, now, I think…” he mutters, not sounding pleased about it at all. “You…just got here, didn’t you?”

"It's an odd sort of place, this, isn't it? Do you live here?"
“Couldn’t it be said that we all live here now?” Rei chuckled in response, though it was a bittersweet sort of amusement. “Although, I’d say it’s difficult to call a place home when it’s been forced upon you. Have you been here long?”
