† lucien — assigning a fucked up book
okay i was torn between tampa by alissa nutting and my year of rest and relaxation by otessa moshfegh based on your blog theme but ive decided that you are eileen by otessa!!! it's not exactly fucked up. it's more of an edgy, dismal book that's like full of dark thoughts and themes.
summary:
trapped between caring for her verbally abusive alcoholic father and her dead-end job as a secretary at a juvenile correctional facility for teenage boys, 24-year-old eileen dunlop dreams of escape. It's december 1964, in the sleepy suburbs of wintery new england – a town which eileen aptly names 'x-ville'

omg you read the necrophiliac??? yk i chose the name lucien for this request because of lucien, the guy from the necrophiliac 😭 anyway
not exactly fucked up the way the others were but my rest and relaxation by otessa moshfegh
follows an unnamed protagonist as she gradually escalates her use of prescription medications in an attempt to sleep for an entire year
this woman is messed up and i think you might like it.

† lucien — i'll assign you a fucked up book i read/have heard about
okay so this one i had to think about for a bit BUT i came to the conclusion that you would be earthlings by sayaka murata. good god. i couldn't finish it. cousin incest and shit no no no no. i gave it a 2/5 star rating on goodreads.
Superficially, Earthlings is the coming-of-age story of a young girl named Natsuki and her cousin, Yuu, who process and explain their sense of alienation from their families by internalizing the belief that they are both actually from another planet.
a small side note: i might actually finish it this year because i tried it LAST year. hopefully aftg can kick me out of my reading slump.

† lucien — i'll assign you a fucked up book i read/have heard about
halfway through typing a rec out i realised that that book was too depraved so im going to be giving you tampa by alissa nutting because it's...idk. anyway i gave this a 2 star review on goodreads and storygraph. idk what the purpose of this novel was. maybe to prove that female child predators/sex offenders walk without consequence or are not treated the same as male offenders??? irdk but i didn't get the point of it.
it follows middle school teacher Celeste Price, who grooms and molests one of her young male students. It is often referred to as a gender-reversed version of Lolita
i find it gross how it's labeled as a thriller comedy. there was nothing thrilling or comedic about it. it was straight up disgusting. and yeah it's basically genderbent lolita

† lucien — i'll assign you a fucked up book i read/have heard about
I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT TO GIVE YOU. it's the book i wanted to assign @here-am-i-sitting-in-a-tin-can but i decided that was too dastardly and depraved for a minor and irresponsible on my behalf because i mean...i stopped reading for three months after that because i couldn't stomach it. and i was like 15 anyway
the book im assigning you is histoire de l'œil by georges batailles. it's extremely graphic pornography. content warnings come by the bucketful and i kid you not, i once read a review that stated the book was like "a piss soaked fever dream." THAT'S VERBATIM.
tells the tale of two teenagers who begin an energetic exploration of non-normative and fetishistic sex practices, particularly dwelling on eyes, eggs, and urine
if i remember correctly there was also the exploitation of a mentally unwell girl. i may be mistaking it for another one of batailles' works. there's so much to unpack here. it's way beyond nsfw. it needs its own category of fetish content.
nsfauyasf. not safe for anyone unless you're a super freak.
to anyone who wants to read it/check it out i am warning you that it is very, extremely disgusting and you shouldn't read it. if you are under 17 i implore you to NOT read it. if you choose to do so that's at your own expense.
there's a reason why it's a banned book. and why many of his other books are banned.

† lucien — i'll assign you a fucked up book i read/have heard about
helllooo yours is too easy. i actually was hoping you'd ask for this one.
so a lot of people may be familiar with the title "a certain hunger" by chelsea g. summers, and i heard somewhere down the grapevine that cannibalism has been a hot topic for a while (i mean who doesn't love a bit of anthropophogus cuisine?)
The book follows food writer Dorothy Daniels, who is also a convicted serial killer. Daniels narrates the story of her crimes from prison, moving back and forth in time between her life behind bars and the life that led to her imprisonment: specifically the food she ate, including eating men.
who is this diva? you may ask. well. i don't know. this book has been on my tbr for well over 3 years now and i keep meaning to pick up on reading it but i could never get there. ive read snippets here and there on tt and pinterest and i can tell you with certainty that it has the potential to be a good read if you take time out to digest it.
see what i did there? omw id make an awesome dad. anyway. my honest opinion is that it could very well be the female version of american psycho ✋🏼😔
it has a 3.8/5 stars on goodreads so it's not AMAZING SHOWSTOPPING JAW DROPPING literature but it's something
anyway. happy reading!?

LUCIEN (non sexual😭😭)
fine. fuckin spoilsport
your second pick of the day is "nightbitch" by rachel yoder. it's about a woman who goes raving mad and ends up "transforming" into a dog. i read ¾ of it until i got tired of her bitching. im all for women empowerment but it was such a drag and so so boring. it was fucked up, don't get me wrong but i despised it for some reason. maybe one day ill pick up again and skim through it.
a mother who believes she's turning into a dog, into nightbitch. she sprouts hair in abnormal places, her teeth are pointier, she craves raw meat, and she has a newfound affinity for howling and hunting small animals
she's just one mentally ill woman.
