      Brows furrow as he struggles for understanding, for a foundation to stand upon. He looks from his mother, to the empty space beside them- as if his answer would suddenly spring forth from from the aether- before he returns his gaze to the Queen. The years have been long. The past five have seemed longer than all the ones that have come before them. But now he feels a thousand years younger, a boy again, standing here before his mother. 

      He thinks of his words carefully. 

     “What point is there in having the ability to do something when you are not ... allowed to do it?”

           “Your coat-- it is quite fine.” One hand holds his chin as he regards this strange man and his nice leather jacket, while the other holds a glass of wine, mostly untouched. There is a covetous, hungry look in his eyes. Red is not his color, but with a little magic the material could very easily be made green.

        The Trickster raises a single brow, and as he examines this stranger,  an expression of disdain quickly forms on his face. His garb - specifically his mask- leads Loki to believe that he is some sort of vigilante, the likes of which Loki has very much had his fill of on this day. 

       “Allow me to guess your intentions.” He drawls, “I have been a naughty boy and you, compelled by some asinine sense of righteousness,  have come to see that my debts to society are paid.”

         “I do not see what all the fuss is about.” He lifts his hands in feigned surrender, fingers spread, palms exposed. There was most certainly a cause for fuss- the building behind him has been reduced to naught but charred framework and smoldering embers. “It was just a bit of fun, really. You humans really should be more careful what you wish for.”

This morning I received the news that last night, @give-me-a-scotch / @verticalfrontalsomething , passed away. We might have drifted apart over the years but I have always considered Jaiyu to be one of my best friends.

They were witty. Sarcastic. And painfully human.

For the last ten years Jai suffered from a myriad of crippling health problems, chronic pain, and depression. I can only hope that now they find some peace.
