She wears a blue science division uniform, but I'm not sure whether this comes with her job as a teacher. On her uniform, she displays the hollow rank pip of a chief petty officer. This is the first time we get to see any enlisted rank insignia in TNG (there weren't any in TOS).
Chief Petty Officer Gladstone was played by Dawn Arnemann.
