i know we're all mad that jim carrey is making way more money than other actors in sonic 3, but honestly i believe a man of his acting calibre deserves to rewarded. his dedication to capturing the essence of dr. robotnik's character is simply inspiring! for example, in what i can only assume is an intensive form of method acting, he single-handedly emitted 2009 metric tons of co2 into the atmosphere via private jet usage in 2024

Hey, you're good at world building. Do you have any thoughts on what religion is like in the Sonic universe?

thats a huge compliment thank you!! unfortunately, i'm aggressively indifferent to religion as a subject, so i've never really put much thought into how it would work in sonic. my immediate assumption is that they would have most of the religions and belief systems we have here, although maybe the existence of sapient, talking animal-like people would have an effect on how religious texts were written back in the day. it depends on whether or not mobians and humans have lived together for all that time. if you think they're aliens on the same planet, then humans would probably just have the same stuff going on.

if the knuckles clan is anything to go by, maybe other clans had distinct views on the chaos emeralds and relied on them to explain the world instead of stories/religious texts. i see some sonic fans use "oh chaos" instead of "oh god" in their fics, so i assume this is a somewhat common interpretation, unless that's just a result of uncertainty over whether or not mainstream human religions exist in sonic. which they do, because vector is supposed to be catholic or something, right? although i think that's just a bit of lore thats semi-canon that fans like to talk about a lot because it's funny.

if someone decides to create a religion specific to sonic's world, i would recommend really looking into how and why religions take the forms they do in the cultures they originate from. for example, not ALL belief systems necessarily command their believers to act in certain ways. the idea that there is a "right" way to have connections to the higher beings isn't seen everywhere. some are extremely personal. there's a lot to work with. however, this will probably never be me, because it ultimately doesn't interest me that much.

At risk of outing myself as a kpop fan, the song I associate with buzzsaw dilemma the MOST is definitely welcome to my world by aespa. not so much in the lyrics sense, since they dont fit super well, but moreso in the vibes sense. the nature-sounding bits at the beginning, combined with the creepy orchestral bit that explodes later in the song, matched the tone i had in my head for when tails finally accumulated enough knowledge to escape and then got to explore the outdoors again. i listened to it so much while writing the later chapters that i named chapter 8 "my world" after the song.

usually, i listen to movie soundtracks and classical stuff while writing, so i dont have any really fun associations otherwise. i listened to the album "elements" by ludovico einaudi a lot for sure :)

last book: last fiction book ive read is moon of the crusted snow by waubgeshig rice and the last non-fiction book ive read is how states think: the rationality of foreign policy by jj mearsheimer. not his best book but not a terrible read either!

last movie: i think it might be the wild robot. i thought the bit where all the animals were forced to get along was really stupid, also very noncredible depictions of a moose. 2/5.

last tv show: house md! recently finished the penguin and im also caught up with arcane

sweet/savory/spicy: savoury for sure, unless it's crêpes in which case sweet every time. i dont understand people who put ham and cheese or whatever in those like at that point just eat a sandwich or a burrito.

relationship status: with my gf for almost a year!

last thing I searched: "how to do accent circumflex on mac keyboard". otherwise i just spent a lot of time looking up articles about warfare in video games for a research paper proposal. i want to write about WMDs in sonic but there are so few game studies about anti-war themes in video games that i'm struggling and will need to use less direct sources.

current obsession: always thinking about my wip. am i writing it? well...
