Deadpool & Copycat

Vanessa Geraldine Carlysle was a young woman, still living at home, when she developed her mutant abilities which are to duplicate people’s physical forms down to the cellular level (therefore, also being able to duplicate their powers,) but because her family was bigoted and anti-mutant and she ran away from home and eventually started working as a prostitute. It is at this time that she meets Wade Wilson who was working as a mercenary, before he entered the armed forces, Weapon X, or was diagnosed with cancer.

Together, they make plans to give up their subversive careers and move away together to start over but when Wade discovers that he has brain cancer he leaves Vanessa so she will not have to suffer beside him.

Years later, Wade has become Deadpool and Vanessa has become Copycat, both working in the mercenary field. This is actually where the two of them have their debut, Deadpool being sent to retrieve/reprimand Copycat from her undercover work with the X-Force where she is impersonating Domino, failing her duties because she became emotionally invested in Cable and the others.

After the death of their mutual employer, Tolliver, a hit is put out on both of them in the midst of a mercenary free-for-all over the inheritance of Tolliver. Slayback, back from the dead and out for revenge against Deadpool, kidnaps Copycat and attacks Deadpool. During the ensuing battle Copycat sacrifices herself for Deadpool

Deadpool uses their combined abilities to save her life

Copycat regains consciousness to tearfully tell Deadpool that she no longer loves him

Years later, Copycat is hired to infiltrate Deadpool’s life in order to find a way to kill him (never intending to follow through, but taking the job for the money) but he sees through her mutant abilities and identifies her.

Deadpool gives her his bank code number so she can take his money, and she leaves.

Not long thereafter Copycat enters Deadpool’s life again in the form of different women in order to start a relationship with him, seemingly forgetting the fact that he always knows it’s her. Eventually the two of them come clean and they start a relationship

But Copycat’s irrational jealousy causes conflict within their relationship

They subsequently break up and then Deadpool re–enters the Weapon X program after they agreed to take away his disfigurement while under a series of injections only they can provide. After being sent on a mission where his team’s target was a young boy and being unable to save him, Deadpool tries to quit the program, remaining only after he learns that the next target is Copycat. He tries to rescue her but Sabertooth murders her.
