Honestly I think we need to give more credit to Yoichi for being so composed. Like if I was two months free from my brother but he was catching up to us and then suddenly everything hurts and goes black and I open my eyes to see the vault I was rescued from, I would have truly lost all sense and humanity at the realization that I was dead and trapped once again. Kudo would have died and woken up to find me unrecognizable and the vault barely so.
