adaline had no idea what was the cause of it, but on this particular day she woke up in a good mood. as she walked through the city she looked around, a large, genuine smile adorned her features as she took in the view, people and all the things vendors were selling. she stopped by one of many tables full with fur. she ran her hand over one of them. oh, it was so soft! there was someone standing next to her, holding an exceptionally beautiful piece in their hand. âif i may say, i think it would look amazing on you!â she looked at them with a smile.

adaline was glad to be going to winterfell. of course, the last event and the poisoning was still fresh in her mind, but she was going to be careful this time. as much as she loved spending time with her family, it was nice to go out. she was heading to the markets when she saw a familiar figure. she stopped as she came face to face with willas. a small, yet genuine smile curved her lips. it was so unusual for her. was it because she had gotten used to having him around while she stayed with him after the funeral? or maybe she had grown to like him just a little bit? she didnât know, but it definitely wasnât only annoyance and displeasure she felt seeing him stand in front of her. âlord willas,â she greeted him, her eyes briefly falling to his held out hand before she lifted them back to his eyes. âit would be my pleasure,â she smiled politely and took his hand. they were in public and, of course, they had to appear happily betrothed, but there was a part of her that didnât feel like she had to try that hard to appear enjoying his company as she used to in the past. she had softened towards him a little bit over the time they spent in the crag. âhow have you been since we saw each other last? buried in work, i assume?â
with  adaline beesbury  /   @rebelsxsterâ where:  a courtyard in winterfell.
they hadnât seen each other since  leaving the crag separately, he to kingâs landing and she to her home. their time together then had been pleasant enough, but willas was no fool and doubted the lack of arguments between them would extend here. it often felt he could merely breathe, and sheâd take issue with it. it was hardly surprising, only the gods knew what sheâd been told about him prior to their first meeting, which in itself had gone poorly. however, they had a duty. willas hoped in public they could be civil for he couldnât avoid her the entire time they were in winterfell. carrying the initial olive branch, he approached and held out his hand.     â  lady adaline. would you like to join me in exploring the markets? â

While Adaline, deeply disliking the political games, feeling sick to her stomach after the ball and being trapped in four walls, was happy she could finally go home, she changed her plans at the last moment and followed Lord Willas to the Crag to be with him at his cousinâs funeral and to be there for him afterwards. She stayed with him for about a month and a half before they parted their ways - he went back to Kingâs Landing, she headed back home to be with her family.

xavion knew what she meant. it seemed that coming here had put a significant mark on their lives, one that he wasnât entirely sure heâd ever be able to move past. the red keep will not be a place he will visit for their father no more and it will not be that place he once considered stable and strong. it will be a place that brought him grief, fear and a craving for vengeance. â i share the same feeling and we will go home, when we are allowed to. â he did want to go home, but some part of him also did not. there were so many things here to distract himself with from loss and most definitely from his wife.Â
âyes, i have waited for you to tell me as i do not like to assume things,â he responded. he did not want to lecture her and though it was only a year that made the two different in age, he felt as a big brother he had insight to give her on many things. as children, the two had grown up separately after all, xavion had life lessons his sister still knew nothing about. â if you have any respect for me, you will listen to me when i tell you to try to find common ground while you are still just getting to know each other. i would hate for you to make the same mistakes i did. â
She took comfort in knowing he wasnât fond of basically being imprisoned here either. At least she wasnât alone in this. As soon as they get their freedom back, Adaline will be the first one out of here, she was sure of it. It was bad enough she was a pawn in their family affairs, she wasnât going to be one on a larger scale.
âI donât think there is anything you could assume wrong between me and Lord Willas. My thoughts and opinions are quite clear if you look closely.â It was on her thinking Xavion would notice things. He was a pretty straightforward man, always have been, always will be. A sigh fell over Adalineâs lips as he continued. She did respect him even if sometimes it didnât look like that. Growing up she looked up to him even though they were very close in age. âWhat mistakes are you talking about?â Curious, she looked at him. She couldnât remember the last time they had had a heart to heart conversation. Somehow something always came up or there was never time. âTo be honest I have never wanted to marry him. Nor his late older brother. Iâm just someone to push around in all those big political games.â She looked down at her hands. Should she confess? Reveal her deepest thoughts? âI just... Youâll laugh. Please donât laugh! I know itâs unbelievable coming from me, but Iâve always wanted to get married to someone I truly love. I donât want an empty, loveless marriage thatâs nothing but signed parchments and nothing more.â

adaline was right that ferah should, at least, be grateful that she had been one of the ones that had recovered. â you are right. i think i needed to hear that, â comes her murmured words, genuine in that she had been wallowing where there were some that still could not move. â i came to the kitchens for the same reason. â the tyrell apartments were not familiar to her, but the kitchens were. enough so that she could draw comfort from the familiar faces and smells, and sit quietly without feeling as though she was being a burden. â hopefully, we will all soon be able to leave and this can be left behind us. â there was no part of her that wanted to be rude to adaline, especially not when she had always been nice to her, but tea, food  â all of it was not anything that she wanted.  â yes, please. thank you, adaline, â ferah voiced with the hint of a smile.  â the cooks made some for me earlier, but it has gotten cold now. â
Her lips curved in a small, genuine and supportive smile. Adaline had to deal with a loss in the family fairly recently too, she could imagine what the woman in front of her was going through. âI am glad I could be of help,â she replied honestly, put her hand on the other womanâs arm and gave it a comforting squeeze. She wanted to let her know, if she needed someone to talk to or wanted a quiet company or just wished to complain about her day, Adaline wouldnât mind being that other person for her, but it wasnât like Adaline had talked to Ferah a lot or become very close. It felt like pushing her self on her, thatâs why she kept quiet about that. âOh, I hope so! Otherwise I am sneaking out and there is nobody, who could stop me!â Except for probably most of the guards that were on patrols around the building. âOh, I can warm it up for you, if you like. It will probably take less time than making a new one,â she said as she put on an apron, took a couple of small logs and knelt down to start a fire.

She wasnât happy about leaving her home, especially because it was for Willas - the man who could fall into a well and she wouldnât care. But unfortunately a tragedy had struck, he lost a cousin and they had to keep up appearances as a soon-to-be-married couple. Honestly, if it wasnât for Xavion, Adaline would have stayed home, but he talked her into going. Unfortunately Adaline knew very well how much it hurt to lose a family member and, even though her thoughts about Willas hadnât changed and probably never will, there was a part of her that wanted to be there for him, next to him. He didnât deserve to stand alone at the funeral.
Adaline arrived shortly before the start of the ceremony. Her eyes scanned the crowd and found him quite quickly. He hadnât noticed her yet. She walked up to him from behind and stopped as she reached his side. âMy Lord,â she quietly and politely greeted him, which was a stark contrast to her usual annoyed âyou againâ when they met in more private settings. It was probably hard to believe, but this time the politeness was genuine as she didnât want to offend or piss him off, not today of all days. She inconspicuously looked around to see if anyone was trying to eavesdrop or would suspect anything to be wrong before speaking again. âI know it probably does not mean much coming from me, but you have my deepest condolences,â she said just as quietly. âAnd Iâm staying for as long as you need me to.â Her words were sincere. âAnd you wonât hear any complaining from me during this time,â she added with a small, playful smile.

of all people, ferah had not expected to see xavionâs sister, another one of the people that had taken ill. though it seemed like just as ferah had needed to get out of the infirmary and somewhere that was not as sterile, adaline had as well.  â you may sit, â she repeated with a nod of her head. in truth, she didnât want to be alone, but not around a lot of people either, and not any of her siblings. their brotherâs death was still too heavy hanging over their heads and ferah had never done well when she could not offer comfort, nor be consoled herself.  â i have felt better, but i am not still at risk of losing my lunch. â that had done nothing to bring back her appetite, though.  â are you feeling better ? i heard that you were afflicted as well. â
âThank you,â she replied with a smile and sat down at the table in front of her. âThatâs good to hear. At least youâre walking around instead of being bedridden like some others.â Of course she wasnât counting those, who had lost their lives due to this sickness, it was too dark, especially hearing whispers from healers that her brother had passed away. âYes, Iâm feeling a bit better, but also Iâm a lot more bored now and I feel like Iâll go mad if I stay in those four walls for one more day,â she replied with a small laugh. It was a bit of an exaggeration, but it wasnât far from the truth. She had never been able to spend all day in her private chambers and do nothing, it bored her to death. âActually, I was thinking about making some tea. That was one of the reasons why I came here. Would you like to have one too?â she offered with a joyful smile as she got up on her feet. Like any other noble house they had servants, who cooked for them, but as a young girl Adaline spent a lot of time around other servant children and she was curious, and picked up a thing or two. Making tea was one of those things.

â all progress is progress, sister, â he smirked, though he didnât envy her or any who had fallen victim. as much as the beesbury siblings wanted to bring light to this situation, others had died of it and he was thankful his prayers had been heard and adaline was starting to recover. it was time his family was spared of death. â get out of where exactly ? this room you mean ? â xavion mused, glancing in her direction. â if i could have the option to leave, trust that we would have already left, but for now we should not. which also means no sneaking around. â there would be some with the idea of escaping the keep for even a few hours, but xavion assumed they would be quickly pinpointed to have something to do with the poison and he would not risk it. the same way targaryens chose the murderer of their father, he thought. â all i can offer you is a walk in the gardens, iâm afraid. and i have a feeling perhaps youâd pick different company for that. â her betrothed was what he meant.
âAs if you donât know what I meant...â A small, playful smirk surfaced as she shook her head disapprovingly. Adaline was sure he knew exactly what she meant, he just liked to test her patience. A moment later a serious sigh left her lips. âItâs not just the room. I want to get out of this place, I want to go home,â she said and looked down at her hands for a bit before looking back up. âI miss home.â If they would be free to go wherever they wanted to, sheâd take all her family and leave without looking back. But since they couldnât do that, she would have to figure out a different way how to keep her distance from all the drama that came along with royals, courts and high class nobles, and it was sneaking out of the keep, which unfortunately was a thing she liked to do often and Xavion knew it very well. She had to figure out a way how to hide it, make him think she wouldnât do it.
Adaline snorted at the somewhat smug, all-knowing look he gave her. âLike who? Willas?â She bit the inside of her cheek to keep a laugh in. âI want to do nothing with him. If you havenât noticed, Iâm not very interested in that man. Heâs stuck-up and boring.â And not to mention a jerk, who purposely poured hot tea all over her the first time they met. âI would choose a walk in the gardens with you over him anytime.â

She had gotten ill like quite a few others, but Adaline was starting to feel better and her appetite was starting to come back too, but her brother was still concerned about her health and had ordered her to stay in her private chambers for one more day. But she couldnât do it. She had been sitting in those four walls for many days now and she wanted to get out. So, when the opportunity came, she sneaked out of her chamber and into the hallways of the keep. It was late enough that the kitchens should be empty, but as she entered, Adaline saw another loner, who probably had the same idea she had - to get out of her room and hope for her sanityâs return. Well, that and having something to eat. âIâm sorry, I didnât mean to barge in like that,â she apologized with a small nod. âWell, I would like to sit, but if you prefer to be alone, I donât mind,â Adaline added. As she looked at the other woman, she had a feeling something was weighing on her mind. âIf I may ask, are you feeling alright?â

âIf feeling like shit, but finally not hurling your guts out counts as âbetterâ, then yes,â she replied with a small laugh and scrunched her nose. It was meant as a joke, but there usually was some truth to every joke. âAlright, maybe it was not that bad,â Adaline admitted with a small sigh. âBut at least I can look at food without getting sick to my stomach,â she shrugged. These were some rough past few days. A soft laugh escaped her lips. âYes, she has been here... quite often, Iâd say. But now that I think about it... There is one thing you could do for me. How about we get out of here? Who knows what kind of illness will spread next. I donât want to find that out.â Of course she knew they werenât able to leave, but at least she tried.

â are you feeling any better today ? â xavion really did not want to show his worries for adaline, especially considering she liked to make him worry about a lot of things due to her passion to cause trouble, because it would do no good for her recovery either way. he sat on an armchair in her chambers and played with a chess piece in his hands, while waiting for her update for the day. he still could not wrap his head around what had happened that night. â iâm sure youâve been pampered enough by our sister as it is, but if you need anything, just say the word. â

Unless it was on an official business, Adaline preferred to somewhat disguise herself when going out or at least dress in a way it wasnât as easy to tell she was a noblewoman. This was one of those days, when she had more simple clothing on.
âYou look lovely,â the guy said, his eyes glued to her butt. Once Adaline turned around, the guyâs eyes moved, but they didnât go higher than her neck. âMy eyes are up here,â she said calmly, yet close to showing irritation. âAlright, alright,â he raised his palms as a surrender, but right when Adaline turned around to walk away, she felt him grab her butt. Without a word she quickly turned, grabbed his hand, twisted it and a moment later he ended up with her arm tightly around his neck. âDonât you ever do that again, I swear Iâll break your arm.â
What she didnât expect was to hear a voice right next to them. Her heart was suddenly beating faster, like she was caught doing something she wasnât supposed to do. And rightfully so. It was bad to hurt people. And definitely not ladylike. âHe deserved it,â Ada said in her defense and turned to look at the person next to them.

â BIOGRAPHY
Adaline was born to a single mother, her father had never been in the picture, and unfortunately she doesnât know why, because she was too young to understand and her mother passed away too soon. Since she had no other relatives Adaline was left alone.
She lived in the orphanage for a few years before the Beesburys took her in. For the first few months she was a shy, quiet kid, who barely talked. She much rather preferred to be on her own or do some reading in the library. But as time went on she felt a bit more relaxed, a bit more like at home, thatâs when she started to open up and talk more, but with that her troublemaker nature was revealed. Adaline quite often disappeared along with children of their servants or children from the nearby houses and played games with them, hid in the woods or climbed trees. And she came home with dirty clothes and scraped knees. She couldnât keep this up for long, her father was getting angry and tired from her shenanigans, but that didnât stop her from sneaking out of the keep and away from everyone entirely. She just hid it better.
Adaline was already a part of the Beesbury family when Xavion was adopted. He was a little bit older than her and their father seemed to like him a lot, so she ended up looking up to Xavion. One of the things she was interested in was swordsmanship. She sometimes used to watch Xavion practice - she took a book and pretended to read it near his training grounds. It looked so amazing and fun, she wanted to try, but nobody let her. It was not ladylike, said everyone, and it just angered her. If he could do it, why couldnât she? What if she didnât want to be ladylike? So she sneaked out to the training grounds when it was dark, but soon she realized she had no idea what she was doing. Adaline needed someone to teach her proper technique. It took her some time, but she found someone, who could teach her in secret.
As years passed she became more and more against the rules society had set up for her and for women in general. She became a pain in her fatherâs backside, because she rebelled against the rules and wanted to carve her own path in life. And then came the betrothal. She had no saying in it. It wasnât like Adaline was against marriage, she, in fact, wished to be married someday, but not for political reasons. Her dream was to get married for love. And meeting and finding out just what kind of man the oldest Marbrand son was she knew there would be no love. Adaline would be just a pretty wife of an unyielding and harsh knight commander. She had to meet him just once to know they wouldnât work.
