The most amazing thing was that I was talking to, at the time, the biggest movie star in the world, and he had been introduced to my films by his wife, so he was asking me questions, not the other way around. It was a pretty amazing experience and we have been friends ever since.” (Photo: Brendon Thorne/Getty Images)

Hollywood Reacts to the Death of Comic Legend Don Rickles
Legendary comedian Don Rickles died Thursday morning at his home in Los Angeles from kidney failure. He was 90. Revered as the king of the insult comics, “Mr. Warmth,” as he was sarcastically nicknamed, was beloved by Hollywood. Check out the many tributes rolling in from Rickles’s fellow comedians as well as other people in the biz.

— Patton Oswalt (@pattonoswalt) April 6, 2017
Don Rickles is gone at 90 years young. He was quite literally one of the funniest people to walk the planet. Rickles guested on The Tonight Show hundreds of times including guest hosting it! I would watch him as a kid crack the audience up and I was laughing along with him. When you watched him you felt like you knew him and he was talking to you. I admire the man and his career. I was also lucky enough to have him pinch my cheek once and tell me I was blocking the hallway (before nailing me with a few more zingers) with a giant smile on his face. My condolences to his family, friends & fans. I'm proud to be a comedian and will be dedicating mu performance tonight to a man that inspired me and so many others.

Carrie Fisher: A Look Back at Her Colorful Life
Tumblr media
Carrie Fisher has died at age 60 after a heart attack. (Photo: CJ Rivera/FilmMagic/Getty Images)
Carrie Fisher will best be remembered for her iconic role in Star Wars; however, she had a similarly colorful life off-screen. In fact, no one was more open about her struggles navigating through life and Hollywood than Fisher herself.
From mental illness to substance abuse, Carrie used her quick wit to write numerous novels and non-fiction books – including the recent The Princess Diarist – about her journey.
Carrie was a star in her own right, but was born into Hollywood royalty. However, trouble at home started at a young age as her father, singer Eddie Fisher, and mother, Debbie Reynolds divorced when she was 2. Eddie famously left Debbie and their two children for his wife’s best friend, Elizabeth Taylor.
Carrie, who often described life’s tribulations with a comedic twist, said her father “basically fled the scene of the accident” and noted that she “saw him more on TV than on the planet.”
Tumblr media

“My father really blew his wad by being this man that abandoned women and children,” Carrie later said. “He was this Lothario. And he was more interested in pursuing p**** than his career. Yeah. It was performing, p****, performing, p****. P****. That’s what he’s also in bed for. He spent most of his life in bed in another way, and now he’s resting.”
Eddie and Carrie reconciled before his death in 2010. However, she was never shy to speak about their troubled relationship early on. “My dad and I used to do drugs together. We were like badly behaved children,” she told People.
In 1970, Carrie started to exhibit signs of bipolar disorder, but she went undiagnosed for over a decade.
“My illness took hold when I was 14 or 15 years old — my father had it too,” she told the magazine, adding she tried medication and electroconvulsive therapy for many years. “Having had this illness my entire life, I accommodated it by developing a very big personality.”
That big personality only helped catapult her into the entertainment industry. She made her big-screen debut in 1975 alongside Warren Beatty in Shampoo and her role in Star Wars followed two years later. The similarities between Princess Leia and Carrie Fisher weren’t lost on the actress.
“A lot of parallels, me and Leia. Dad goes off to the dark side, and Mom marries a millionaire,” she reflected toRolling Stone (Reynolds went on to marry millionaire businessman Harry Karl). “There’s a whole lot of freight that goes with being movie stars’ kids – on the cover of Life when you’re two minutes old. I remember the press diving through trees to get pictures of me, my brother and my mother. Poor Debbie; that bastard Eddie; and Liz. We’ve been public domain all our lives. I was trained in celebrity, so I did the only thing I knew. I went into the family business.”
Despite being a second generation celebrity, Carrie didn’t like the media attention growing up.
“The only time I was ever hit in my life was by my nanny. Someone took a picture of me with a flashbulb, and I screamed,” she noted. “I had some cellular fear, some-where, which I don’t wish to recall. I saw what the media did to my parents, particularly to my father, and how seriously they took it. They weren’t really parents, you know, they were copy. After a point, it becomes your only validation. You begin to think if everyone accepts you – the public, the press – then you’ll be acceptable to yourself.”
Tumblr media
Paul Simon and Carrie Fisher pose after wedding in a private ceremony. (Photo: AP Photo)
As Carrie joined Star Wars, her world only got crazier. It was recently revealed she had a three-month affair with Harrison Ford at the age of 19 (he was 33 and married) in 1977. One year later, Carrie became involved with Paul Simon and the two dated on and off until marrying in 1983 and divorcing a year later.
“Good wedding, bad marriage. We had great fights,” Fisher told People of their relationship.
In her semi-autobiographical novel, Postcards from the Edge, Carrie spoke candidly about her use of drugs — including LSD and painkillers — during their relationship.
“Drugs was one of the hands — one of the baby hands — that pulled us down into the mess,” she wrote. “We went through a lot to be together. We didn’t make it.”
“I couldn’t stop, or stay stopped,” she recalled of already being heavily into drugs when they met. “It was never my fantasy to have a drug problem. I’d say, ‘Oh, f*** it, I haven’t done anything for a couple of months, why not? Let’s celebrate not doing them by doing them.’ I got into trouble each time. I hated myself. I just beat myself up. It was very painful.”
Fisher later admitted to also doing cocaine during while shooting the 1980 film The Empire Strikes Back and 1983’s Return of the Jedi.
Tumblr media

“We did cocaine on the set of Empire in the ice planet,” Fisher told the AP. “I didn’t even like coke that much. It was just a case of getting on whatever train I needed to take to get high.”
Fisher said John Belushi, who died of a drug overdose in 1982, once told her she had a problem.
“Slowly I realized I was doing a bit more drugs than other people and losing my choice in the matter,” she added. “If I’d been addicted to booze I’d be dead now, because you just go out and get it.”
It wasn’t until an overdose at 28 that Carrie was then diagnosed with bipolar disease. She divulged her condition during an interview with Diane Sawyer years later.
“I used to think I was a drug addict, pure and simple — just someone who could not stop taking drugs willfully,” Fisher exclaimed in 1990. “And I was that. But it turns out that I am severely manic depressive… I have a chemical imbalance that, in its most extreme state, will lead me to a mental hospital.”
She continued, “I have two moods… One is Roy, rollicking Roy, the wild ride of a mood. And Pam, sediment Pam, who stands on the shore and sobs … Sometimes the tide is in, sometimes it’s out. The world of manic depression is a world of bad judgment calls. Just every kind of bad judgement because it all seems like a good idea at the time. A great idea … So if it’s talking, if it’s shopping, if it’s — the weirdest one for me is sex. That’s only happened twice. But then it’s wow, who are you?”
Fisher seemed to settle down and find happiness in her personal life as she was dating with CAA managing director Bryan Lourd. In 1992 they had one child together, daughter Billie Lourd, but their relationship ended when Bryan left her for a man.
Tumblr media

“My ability to write helps me get through,” Fisher reflected. “But being able to make light of situations doesn’t mean they’re light.”
In the years that followed, Fisher stumbled again with drugs. In 2005, Republican lobbyist Gregory Stevens was found dead at Carrie’s mansion from an apparent overdose. The two were friends and Greg came over after a night out; however, when he went to sleep he never woke up.
“I thought I had killed him because it had happened on my watch and I had failed to save him. They say his body was so worn out from drug use that if it hadn’t happened that night it would’ve happened on another one,” Fisher later told Vanity Fair. She also claimed he then haunted her house. “I was a nut for a year, and in that year I took drugs again.”
Once again, Carrie channeled her personal dealings into professional musings, this time in her one-woman play (and eventual book) Wishful Drinking. Despite growing up in the entertainment world, even she wasn’t immune to the struggles with being an “aging woman” in Hollywood.
“Everyone looks so good, and now this is my medication overweight. I barely eat anything and I wind up looking like I’ve been combing the city for donuts,” she said when discussing Hollywood’s weight obsession. “It’s not good to be at this weight in that place… I don’t like that part of it, and I don’t like to think, maybe I should have my breasts reduced, but that would be nice. I live in the world of plastic surgery and I don’t like having to think, ‘Oh my neck, I hate this.’ And I don’t like seeing myself really big on screen. I didn’t like it when I was pretty, so imagine how I feel now.”
In 2013, there were reports Fisher relapsed again after video footage from her performance on a cruise ship surfaced which showed the actress acting erratically. She went to the hospital briefly and a rep for Fisher stated the medical incident was in relation to her bipolar disorder, not drugs or alcohol.
Per usual, Carrie used this incident to help spread awareness and destigmatize the shame around mental illness.
“But it’s not funny. The only lesson for me, or anybody, is that you have to get help,” she told People. “It’s not a neat illness. It doesn’t go away. I’m just lucky this hasn’t happened more. [In the future] I don’t know if there are setbacks or steps forward. I’m not embarrassed. I’m sorry for my friends and my family. I feel bad for my daughter. I don’t want this spectacle-making illness to make a spectacle of me and, in so doing, her.”
Fisher went on to reprise her role as Princess Leia in last year’s Star Wars revival, The Force Awakens. It was a role and connection she could not deny from the start.
“I knew that something enormous was likely going to impact my life from this film and that there was absolutely no way of understanding what that was or was likely to be,” she told People.
It’s safe to say Carrie impacted many lives as well. She is survived by her mother Debbie Reynolds, 84, daughter Billie, 24, and brother Todd Fisher, 58, and her French bulldog Gary.

Celebs React to George Michael’s Death at 53
Tumblr media
George Michael “passed away peacefully at home,” said his publicist. (Photo: Morena Brengola/Getty Images)
Sadly, it was George Michael’s “Last Christmas.” The singer-songwriter, who rose to fame as part of the British ’80s musical duo Wham! and went on to have a successful solo career, died “over the Christmas period” at the age of 53, his publicist told the BBC. The signer’s friends, fans, and fellow musicians immediately took to social media to mourn and remember the man behind such hit songs such as “Faith,” “Careless Whisper,” and “One More Try.”
Rest with the glittering stars, George Michael. You've found your Freedom, your Faith. It was your Last Christmas, and we shall miss you.

Jonah Hill Recalls the Joke He Told While Officiating Adam Levine’s Wedding
yahoo
If Jonah Hill is involved in something, you expect it to be funny. And Adam Levine and Behati Prinsloo’s July 2014 wedding in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, was no exception.
On Wednesday, Hill appeared on The Howard Stern Show, where he recalled the joke he told while officiating the couple’s nuptials. “The joke I wrote was like, ‘Adam and I grew up together … it’s so nice to see all the people we grew up skateboarding with … like Stevie Nicks and Robert Downey Jr.,” Hill cracked, explaining that he was kind of giving Levine “s*** because he had really famous people at his wedding.”
The War Dogs star also confessed that he felt the pressure to deliver on Levine and Prinsloo’s special day and was “drained” once the ceremony was over. “I left the party after like 30 minutes,” he revealed.
In case you didn’t know, Adam and Jonah go way back. They’re dads actually met in junior high and, as a result, their families have been friends forever. “Adam Levine is genuinely like family to me,” Hill said of his relationship with the Maroon 5 frontman. “We’re literally like brothers.”

5 Stars Who Once Dreamed of Competing in the Olympics
yahoo
The 2016 Rio Olympics are currently in full swing. While many young children dream of competing in the games regardless of their athletic abilities, there are a few celebrities who, at one point, came close to actually making the cut.
Geena Davis may have put her baseball skills on display as Dottie Hinson in the 1992 hit A League of Their Own, but that’s not the only sport she’s shown real potential in. “I qualified to go to the Olympic trials in archery,” Davis told kidsinthehouse.com. “So it’s apparently something I never expected to find myself doing in my 40s, but it was certainly really fun.”
The actress first discovered her talent while learning how to shoot pistols for The Long Kiss Goodnight. In a 2015 interview with espnW, Davis revealed that her shooting coach told her she “had a freaky natural ability at pistol shooting” and “could probably compete if [she] wanted to.” The Oscar winner went on to explain that while she wasn’t sure about pistols, she became inspired to try out archery after watching the 1996 Atlanta Olympics and after two-and-a-half years of training, went on to compete for a spot on the U.S. archery team ahead of the Sydney Summer Olympics in 2000. Davis finished 24th out of 28 women competing in the semi-finals of the Olympic trials.
Then there is Jason Statham, who was inspired to join the British diving team at the age of 11, after watching a guy on the high dive while on a family vacation in Florida. Statham was on the team for about 10 years and competed in three Olympic trials but told Katie Couric that while he “never went to the Olympics,” he competed in “tons of Internationals all around the world.”
And did you know that before Salma Hayek became an actress she was once a young gymnast with promise? In a 2002 interview with the New Zealand Herald, she revealed that she was drafted to be part of Mexico’s Olympic team. “I was 8 or 9 and my father said no because I would have had to go live in Mexico City in a boarding school for gymnasts, do six hours, eight hours a day of training.” Hayek said the training schedule would have been “like paradise” for her, but unfortunately her Olympic dreams never came to fruition.
Check out this video for a look at five celebs who had Olympic aspirations, and tune in to The Insider With Yahoo on TV tonight for the latest in entertainment news.

Alfonso Ribeiro and Daughter Sienna Bust a Move
Alfonso Ribeiro is dusting off his dance shoes yet again, but this time his daughter, Sienna, is joining him. The father-daughter duo teamed up with J.C. Penney to film a catchy commercial for their 2016 back-to-school campaign, and let’s just say it kind of has us wanting to get up and dance too.
In the spot set to Meghan Trainor’s hit “Me Too,” Alfonso plays a bus driver with some serious moves, while Sienna shows off her high kick for the rest of the student passengers. The Insider With Yahoo caught up with the Ribeiros on set where Alfonso explained that they were excited to team up with J.C. Penny because “they are committed to making the back-to-school experience the best that it can be.”
And speaking of the best, when asked who the better dancer was, both Alfonso and Sienna seemed to feel they should claim the title. But like any good father would do, Alfonso conceded in the end.
But Sienna’s aspirations go beyond dancing. “I actually really want to act,” she explained. “I’ve been trying to do stuff and this is a great opportunity for me and I’m really excited.” Even dad is onboard with his little girl entering the world of showbiz. “You know, as a parent all you ever care about is your kids being happy and doing the things that they love to do,” Alfonso added.
Check out this video to see Alfonso and Sienna’s dance skills, and tune in to The Insider With Yahoo on TV tonight for the latest in entertainment news.

Taylor Swift Ends Social Media Hiatus With Cat Video
yahoo
Taylor Swift is back on Instagram and her latest post is purrfect.
After posting a flurry of pics from her Fourth of July bash, the Grammy winner’s Instagram account went dark. Two weeks later, in the midst of her controversy with Kanye West, she issued a statement and went silent again. One week later, she shared a single flashback photo to celebrate BFF Selena Gomez’s birthday only to disappear once again. But the 26-year-old singer made a triumphant return to social media on Tuesday, when she offered fans a glimpse into her life with a video of her cat, Olivia Benson, on Instagram Stories.
“What’s going on?” Swift can be heard asking her pet as Olivia stands on her hind legs. “You gonna look less like a cat and more like a squirrel today?”
On Thursday, she also posted a birthday message to another one of her besties, model Karlie Kloss.
I LOVE YOU KARLIE! You’re such an exquisite person, always trying to make things better for others. Every day I’m inspired by how giving, loving, and thoughtful you are. Happy 24th Birthday!!! @karliekloss
A photo posted by Taylor Swift (@taylorswift) on Aug 3, 2016 at 10:55am PDT
While Swift has been laying low amidst her budding romance with Tom Hiddleston and her ongoing feud with the rapper, she can’t seem to avoid getting sucked back into the spotlight by her peers. Check out the video to find out how Justin Bieber put her name back in headlines on Tuesday, and tune in to The Insider With Yahoo on TV tonight for the latest in entertainment news

Stars Who Had the Chance to Rub Elbows With Former First Lady Nancy Reagan
Former first lady Nancy Reagan died on Sunday at her home in Bel-Air, Calif., at the age of 94. She will be remembered for her involvement in the “Just Say No” drug abuse prevention campaign, being a fierce protector of her husband, former President Ronald Reagan, and her work as a leading activist for Alzheimer’s research. She was also admired for her elegance and impeccable style.
Reagan, who started out as an actress and appeared in 11 films from 1949 until 1956, brought a touch of old Hollywood glamour to the White House, which the public appeared to embrace until the country was hit by a recession. “Queen Nancy” — as she had been dubbed — was criticized for her frivolous spending. She redecorated the White House, wore expensive designer gowns, and hosted lavish soirees for her and the president’s well-to-do friends at a time when most Americans were struggling. In an attempt to deflect the negative press, she surprised everyone when she dressed as a bag lady and sang “Secondhand Clothes” (to the tune of “Secondhand Rose”) at the Gridiron Dinner in 1982. She absolutely stole the show with her self-deprecating song-and-dance number, which won over critics and transformed her image. Of course, she still was pretty good at throwing parties.
Check out some of the celebs who were lucky enough to meet the charismatic Nancy Reagan during her time as not only first lady of the United States but first lady of California.

Nancy Reagan and Mr. T
Nancy Reagan spiced up her holiday party when she enlisted none other than Mr. T to play Santa Claus for the unveiling of the White House Christmas decorations in 1983. In a 2008 interview with the Independent, Mr. T revealed that being invited to the White House was one of the biggest surprises of his life. “Nancy Reagan was campaigning to get kids to say no to drugs, and they heard about me going round schools telling kids to stay away from drugs,” he said. “It was a real honor for a black kid from the ghetto who grew up on welfare.” The A-Team star even got a kiss from the first lady! (Photo: Diana Walker/Time Life Pictures/Getty Images)

Stars Give Back at Thanksgiving 2015
Though we should give thanks all through the year, Thanksgiving serves as a reminder to take a moment to be thankful for what we have, and to remember those who aren’t as fortunate. Emmy Rossum, Niecy Nash, and Melissa Rivers are just a few of the celebs who are doing just that this holiday season.
Tumblr media
Emmy Rossum
Emmy Rossum greeted folks with a big smile while volunteering at the Los Angeles Mission’s annual Thanksgiving celebration on Wednesday. “Humbled today working at #TheLAMission giving out Thanksgiving meals!” the Shameless actress tweeted. “The work the mission is doing is very inspiring. I never feel better than when I'm giving my time to something bigger. I hope this will inspire you to go out and #makeadifference!” (Photo: Bruja/PacificCoast News)

Frankie Grande
Ariana Grande’s big brother, Frankie (who you might recognize from the reality show Big Brother), dished it out for the Los Angeles Mission as well. The traditional Thanksgiving meal was prepared by a team including celebrity chefs Michael Voltaggio (Ink), Duff Goldman (Charm City Cakes), Josiah Citrin (Meliss), and Ray Garcia (BS Taqueria). (Photo: David Livingston/Getty Images)
Tumblr media
Melissa Rivers and Cooper Endicott.
Melissa Rivers planted a smooch on her only son, Cooper, while scooping out stuffing. “Cooper and I miss delivering meals this year with @Godslovenyc, but we were honored to serve meals @thelamission #SkidrowThanksgiving,” tweeted Melissa. The duo used to join Cooper’s grandmother Joan Rivers each Thanksgiving to drop off meals on behalf of God’s Love We Deliver to people in NYC who were too sick to shop or cook for themselves. Jay Tucker and Niecy Nash.
Nash’s husband, Jay Tucker, pitched in as well. “i prepared the plates & my hubby delivered them to the guests #SkidRowThanksgiving  @thelamission,” tweeted the funny lady. (Photo: Twitter)
