What are the SMART generation missing?
As someone famously said every 4 years a new generation of individuals are born with thoughts that are totally contrasting to their seniors. Though this is the generation Is so S M A R T - (Social Media Artificial intelligence Robots Telecommunication 聽 聽) but are they really missing anything ?
Again, let me make a disclaimer this is purely a personal opinion based on the interactions with the so-called millennials.
Let鈥檚 put a thought to all those born in early 80th special in a developing country like India which was slowly opening it economic doors to external world yet there was no such bombardment of the such new ways of entertainment.
I still remember when schools meant playing on ground whenever we got a free period and not going to computer labs.
Coming back from school by 1 PM take a break and then finish homework and go back again to pay with the friends of the locality in a nearby ground or garden.
But as I see in majority of so called big metropolis in India now a days schools are teaching to make the next gen scientist by make children even from primary grade to stay in school till 3 PM forget about the Senior Secondary students.
Is this SMART generation not missing the way to play games on their own and not being asked to play sports? For some of you might say what is the difference but do think games are the once which kids enjoy on their own it helps to make the physical and mentally active not having to just restrict them to specific rules and regulations .
How many of this SMART generation know about
Pithu
Kancha
Chain
Gilli danda
Kho kho
Latto
Stapoo
Hide & Seek
Chor Sipahi
4 Corners
Kabbadhi
Dog & Bone
Maram Pitthi
Vish Amrit
Langari Tang etc
Secondly with the way the social fabric and outlook to money and discrepancy in 90% of India鈥檚 money being horded by 聽 10% of people has caused an increase in crimes where parents themselves feel unsafe to let kids go alone or with friends to park or garden.
I still remember when at age of 5 I could go to a ground about 8-10 KM from my home without my parents being worried.
Thirdly the work life of the middle class has become so hectic that they prefer kids are indoors either playing on SMART phone or gaming consoles.
聽Then I put my thought to how much it meant to a child of 80鈥檚 having a TV with Doordashan 聽as the only channel yet still enjoy the 1 hr of Sunday鈥檚 innocent cartoon . If we see now we have about 500 channels now and about 20 kids channel yet none of them have the innocence of a kids cartoons. Frankly each of such cartoons have so much of content which even adult minds cannot digest but we generally miss that in the hustle and bustle of daily work.
Is the SMART Generation not missing their innocence?
聽How many of the 80s generation remember about the first two-wheeler or car you got at your home as of now the SMART Generation are so spoilt for options that many of them don鈥檛 value the stuff they get that was not the case with 80s ? Is the SMART generation not missing the ability to value the stuff they get or cherish the same?
聽There is a saying the more is making people bore seems to hold relevance now but again this is more to do with moving from values of family life as being the core that used to the daily activities which concentrated on necessities and if possible on comforts.
Now that has moved to monitory gains and more on getting all comforts and looking to make more and more of luxuries.
Let鈥檚 see the generation of 2020 where it goes will it be a vicious cycle where they understand the difference between being Happy and being successful.

Is poverty for third work countries ?
I was doing my random search on this topic . I then decided to explore this more being for a developing country link India poverty and people who are homeless is part of our country stigmata .
But as you explore this more you find such case in best of countries with good GDP or with a good social security system.
Again not this is purely on the details i read online i have not been able to visit all these countries.
Lets start with the big daddy of them all the US of A where after then 2008 real estate bubble bursts let to people not been able to pay their mortgage and hence were rendered homeless
In USA you have people using the Walmart parking to park their trailers and staying there now even these people are being asked to vacate .
Then there are states in USA where people couldn鈥檛 afford to pay their loans hence had to move out stay and stay in either on road side makeshift tent house or abandoned trailers .
Kids who where living in foster homes move out and stay alone in the streets if west cost to east cost.
Lets look at Germany which has free higher education and considered quite a stable economy for people but even there the retired class above 60 are finding it hard to meet both end meets . The pension is no sufficient for someone to manage both end meets and these 60 plus people are being forced to collect beer bottles for 25c per bottle to make both end meet.
If we look into life of few other middle class and labor class people don鈥檛 get the minimum hourly wage of 25-30 euro . People are forced to work at 10-15 euro that to over weekends and evening to get both ends meet.
So is it better than any third world country may be may be not but if your elderly are still working after 60 having to take care of themselves as a society we should do some introspection into our self to see if the growth and progress is of value when the people who let us achieve this are they treated with care.
Lets move out to land of South Korea whose economy moved from some 300 billion to 1.4 Trillian in just 50 years with the hard work . You can relate so many giants like Samsung , Kia etc just to name a few which where instrumental in the success of the South Korean economy . Again the class of people who helped South Korea achieve now who are in their 50-60 and 70 are left to manage their two ends meet . Majority of youth say about 70% of kids or the working generation now bother of taking care of their aspirations or kids but not take care of their parents . The social security system for pensions is also accessible to 35% of the people aged 60%.
Looking at UK we have kids and teens are spending live on streets of Briton or Birmingham or south hall living in shaky conditions or in the woods near the major cities in tents .
Just to still understand is our thought about growth or progress correct are work progressing鈥檚. Can their not be a well balance between progress and well being of the people
