I just stumbled across your blog, I had the Flight anthologies as a kid and the couple Wyit stories you had in there were some of my favorites!! it's super cool to find your art again and see that you're working on a full graphic novel of it! :D do those old comics tie into the new one at all?

Hey Lurinym, thank you so much for reaching out. Always makes my day whenever I hear from people who were fans of the old Flight Comics anthologies I got my start in. Really honored to have provided some good memories to younger readers! The story I'm working on is a different setting/world than what I was doing in my Flight comics. BUT the main character, Wyit, is still the same exact person/soul, despite his slightly different design. During the Flight days I had Wyit's 'theme' in mind, but the actual story was very experimental and figuring it out as I went... Which is great for learning and short stories, but wasn't great for a deliverable graphic novel at the time. So he got shelved for many years. Wasn't until maybe 8-10 years later, when I was in a pretty dark/desperate point in life, that bringing him back made his full story fall into place finally. The world is a bit different; no humans, new secondary characters, less medieval and more "sword & skyship" kind of diesel-fantasy (think Nausicaa), but I can say beyond a doubt it's the story I NEEDED to tell but wasn't ready to back in the Flight years. Hope that explains a little, but feel free to ask any other questions!

Drew the goobers again cause I actually like the designs I gave them. Still give them weirdly large eyes but I'm sure I'll figure out how to do their faces and hair better in time. Also slowly gonna start trying to do environmental/ background stuff with future drawings now to get used to doing it. The background here was heavily referenced by an 'Omari' and subsequently Reagan Lodge. (it fit really well with the ideas and visuals I have set up for the sheep species of NoK and will ideally act as a bit of a springboard into doing more individual pieces in the future)

i'm going to art school rn for illustration, STRUGGLING with art block, and seeing your art reminds me it's supposed to be fun and rewarding and not painful and stressful. thank you

Hey thanks for supportive comments. It's always massively encouraging for me to hear! If it's any help, I've always thought of "art block" as something that just doesn't exist. (I'll be speaking in terms of "this is how I do it, feel free to try it", not "this is how YOU SHOULD do it".) You can be depressed, sick, fatigued, unmotivated or struggling with focus/attention issues (speaking as someone both ADHD + TBI with tinnitus, I struggle daily with the latter), etc. or any other number of things that make it hard to draw. But "art block" doesn't exist as its own thing. I DO know "art block" is often just a shorthand term, when you rationally know it's something more specific confounding your drawing time. But in my experience that added layer of obfuscated nomenclature makes it harder to address the core problem. Also I generally treat art/storymaking the same way I treat going to the gym. I might be HUGELY demotivated, uninspired, unfocused, stressed or depressed that day, but I know for a fact that I will feel WORSE if I don't show up and at least try. Even if it ends up being a lousy, weak lifting/drawing session, the ONE thing I can hold on to is the knowledge that I overcame resistance to simply GET STARTED and put in the work I could. Getting started is always the hardest part. Everything after that is just building and maintaining momentum. Besides, you never know when a bad day's work session might surprise you with good results. Something a friend who's a competitive Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu fighter and bodybuilder once said something I hang on to: "Success doesn't come just from being the best at something. Sometimes it's about being too dumb to quit." It's the same with art. Take breaks, rest and recover, but don't let a recent loss convince you to skip out on practice and let your creative muscles atrophy. Anyways thanks again, and I hope there's some nugget of useful info in this for any of you!

Hey there! I do have plans to sell shirts and other fabric merch, just haven't had time to set it up myself yet (still just 1 guy running my whole operation). Wanna do the proper research and make sure I'm using a QUALITY service if I'm putting my art on it. Sorry I don't have it available yet, but I WILL in the future.
