He did it because it was convenient, but also because he surmised that Han Yoojin had been thinking of him when planning the bread (for the buffet). Han Yoojin had specifically requested that the white bread being served had to be served with the crusts still on, without fail. ^^

Bread served on the Original Sung Hyunje's dining table was always served with the crusts already cut off from the start.

As far as chapters go, at the moment I'm working on chapter 46, which is nearing roughly 2000-3000 words, and I'm hoping to fit the entirety of the Empire Arc within the one chapter because it's essentially nothing fun with a lot of important canon details.

I love how chapter 414 gives us this particular insight into Crescent Moon's mind.

I always appreciated how the main villain in sctir has love as her main motivation, making her the perfect enemy for Yoojin; 2 characters whose powers and personalities are both shaped by love, but who understand and live that love in completely different ways.

Crescent Moon, whose love is so absolute (and so empty), she is literally incapable of hating anyone; Yoojin, who burns with hate almost as much as he burns with love - never without reason - and will never forgive those who hurt the people under his care.

Crescent Moon, who would sacrifice anyone in order to save the worlds she so deeply love; Yoojin, who would always choose saving his loved ones over saving the world.

But this chapters gives us a new layer of this dichotomy that I never truly noticed before, while reading machine translation.

Yoojin is also possessive with the people he loves. They are "his kids". But that possessiveness is there to shape the way HE behaves. They are his, so he must protect them. They are his, so he can never give up on them, even if they hurt him or push him away.

Meanwhile, Crescent Moon is possessive in the way she sees the objects of her love as her belongings. Her tools. Meaning she can do whatever she wants with them.

It explains how she could hurt and use Sung Hyunje so much, while also confirming that he truly was the one she loves the most.

This shit is PISSING me off so here's a list of all the thing the LA is changing out of mysoginy, homophobia and generally watering down in order to cater to what im assume would be mostly a male casual audience from the top of my head ;

KDJ ;

- His mother is now a single mother living with him ; his backstory is therefore aparrently completely erased. This removes his isolation, his sensitivy toward the abuse and exploitation of others (mainly women - I'll add it may be still here but its made a lot less personal for him and instead a more regular 'I'm the good guy !' Type shit), his complete dependency on TWOS and its writer, story and characters to survive

- In the LA his final message to tls123 is changed to a hateful one, shitting on the ending. I don't think i need to explain how fucking stupid and antithetical to who KDJ is in the novel

- Ahn Hyo Seop, the actor playing him, has stated about the 'BL elements' in ORV that they were merely here 'for fun' and therefore it being erased was not a big deal. Heteronormativity asides, what are the so called BL elements ? Who fucking knows, that could go from the misunderstanding other characters have, to Uriel, to the deep connection Yoo Joonghyuk and Kim Dokja share.

- And speaking of their deep connection, it is apparently said that the character KDJ rooted the most for was Jeong Heewon ! She's not ! A ! Fucking ! Character ! And I honestly think that was they meant by 'ommission of BL elements', they didnt just remove the running gag, they watered down everything ! Cant have ORV being accused of being BL after all

- KDJ is also said to be a school violence 'perpetrator' - now I don't exactly know if that means he actually started shit or if he fought back (both of which are ooc, but the 2nd one is more palatable ig) but peeps on twitter went to see the meaning of the exact word used in the article and yup, it means someone who inflicts harm on other. Yippie.

- KDJ wanting to save the world - I know it, you know it, if you've read more than a few chapter of ORV you should know it - KDJ doesnt give a single shit about saving the world. He directly states this multiple times. This should not be hard. But because the director apparently wanted a shonen protagonist, I suppose KDJ is now this righteous guy wanting to save everyone.

- Not gonna point out every little things but here are a few things that shows that OrvLA KDJ is a completely different characters ;

- He offers a bug to Kim Namwoon

- He act all flustered and unsure when confronting YJH for the first time (honestly that whole video felt like right out of a parody)

Jeong Heewoon ;

- Apparently has no lines. 0. Look, a mute/very quiet character can be interesting to see and to act out and all, but this is isnt an oc, this is Jeong Heewoon !

- They apparently completely removed her sexual assault. Instead her friend is dead, which is why she is left with anger. Anger has always been a big trait to Jeong Heewoon, but its definitely not her biggest one. JHW is someone who is loyal and righteous and so his her anger - injustice is what angers her the most, and the ones women suffer through even more so, especially since she survived it herself. Besides, her trauma and fear of men is something that is important to her relationship with KDJ and LHS and how it progress.

- Removing this part of her character (literally her introduction), making her have no lines makes me think they might make her someone that is defined by anger and revenge, and nothing else. Honestly, that along her being a TWOS character + being the character KDJ rooted for the most makes me fear they might have tweaked her to be a sort of replacement for YJH in the narrative and in his relationship with KDJ - therefore avoiding the 'BL allegations'. This is definitely advancing myself a bit too much but after everything I woudnt be surprised.

Yoo Sangha ;

- She's a healer now lol

- Ok srs, from that I think we can assume Lee Sheolhwa straight up isnt in here (just like Han Soo-) + plot twist it just goes against what her character is about to begin with. YSH is meant to be the pretty single girl that is cheery and support everyone no matter what, except that's how people see her, specially men. And its something she somewhat 'takes advantage of', but once that ORV starts and she gains more ability, she's able to assert herself more. Her abilities are meant to reflect that - she's not a support in any way, she's more like a dps, an assassin, someone who can mass murder EZ. Making her a healer... urgh

To all of that we can add ;

- A suspicious han sooyoung hole

- using AI for marketing - just kill me atp

- Designs that are off across the board ; Biyoung what have they done to you... they turned you into a marketable legally destinguishable labubu. Also YJH, just. Fucking style his hair different idk.

Conclusion ;

I dont even care about the actors, tbh I didnt know Jisoo or Lee Minho before the ORVLA cast was revealed (i havent watched any kdramas... or care about kpop bless my soul but i swear its mostly because id rather read novels and watch animations) - In fact I already knew it was going to be pretty bad, because tbh ORV is one of those novel that is just incredibly hard to adapt in any other media but I didnt think it would be THAT bad. I thought it might be a bad adaptation but a fun movie, instead I'm being constantly reminded the director is a mysogynist and homophobe who flanderize everything to appeal to a wider audience. And if the early showings are any signs of it, it's not working.

I hate everything about this. I beg of everyone that would read this ; do NOT watch the movie. Or if you do, go on the seven seas. Don't go to the cinema for that, dont go on any legal streaming platform. Just dont.

Did we as a fandom collectively realize that both Alberu and Cale are going to live hella long. Like, Alberu is 25% dark elf and Cale has the vitality of the hearth. And I imagine Alberu does not want to be the Emperor for his whole life, so let's say ha passes on the mantel to someone else in his 60s. And now you have the ex-emperor and ex-commander who still look like they are in their 20s with nothing to do but bother each other in one of Cale's many properties. So at some point, out of boredom, a prank war is declared. And 'because they are both sneaky motherfucker's they get bored with pranking each other very quickly. So they, once again out of boredom, escalate the prank war. But this time they team up against everyone else just to see what they can do. 10 years later the prank war is nationwide, their companions saw through them pretty quickly so they had to escalate it again. 20 years later, the war has spread through the both continents. And I imagine that they found a way to do all of this without moving out of one of the mansions too much. They just sit and eat cookies while watching everything through the communication devices like it's reality TV.
