Earlier I was looking up something in my blog history and I noticed the strangest thing.
In 2012 I responded to a guy who was shaming the NAACP for supporting marriage equality which he called a pet cause of white people. I responded rather hostilely accusing him of throwing gay people, including black LGBT people under the rug, to which he responded in a very cold way describing black LGBT people as "various black constituencies."
So I thought, "What if he was LGBT and it just didn't come across here, and I looked like an idiot" and I checked.
Before this: His blog is entirely heteronormative. Talks about his first crush (girl) and wanting to get married some day (to note, he was not enthusiastic for gay marriage).
After this: About half a month passes. He reblogs about a drag queen. Half a month later, hot guy photo. Gay rights issues cropping up in support. Slowly his blog becomes more gay coded, ending in mostly a series of reblogs of muscled shirtless guys.
Honestly, I think my belligerent identity bickering was a pivotal point in a man's coming out. And I'm not sure how to feel about that, since I've long considered that to be a manifestation of the worst part of me.
Santa is on strike due to global warming. All presents this year will be delivered by Sasha the Christmas Tiger. Milk and cookies may not be sufficient.
Isn't it wonderful when the voices leading our modern cultural development push back against the idea that men could ever be close friends with each other without it being homoerotic? That even, or perhaps especially if these characters are gay/bi, they can't just have other close male friendships without constantly coming onto each other? I feel so represented by my media advocates.
After being told all our lives that minimum wage is for high schoolers trying to get work experience and not for adults with rent and bills, a restaurant near me is learning what it's like to have a crew of only high school students.
They want to work less hours so they can participate in school activities (games, dances, college prep courses).
The boss says that if they dont pick up more hours, they are fired.
So you agree with labor unions coordinating all workers to strike at once until higher-paying contracts can be negotiated?

[id: a digital painting that recreates the Wizard Pondering the Orb meme. the painting is very similar but instead of an orb, there is a very round cat. the wizard is petting the cat. end id]
