How's this story for you? Once upon a time, a bunch of teenage girls got stranded in the Wilderness, and they went completely fucking nuts. They worshipped evil spirits, and they hunted their friends, and they feasted on their flesh, and they fucking liked it. So they told themselves stupid fairy tales and pretended they were brave and strong. Because the reality was that even if rescue came, they could never go home again. Because of what they'd done. Because of what they'd become. That's the truth.

the plot of the first season is that every adult yellowjacket knows what happened in the wilderness and their secrets can never come out. at every single turn the adult yellowjackets are vaguely bringing stuff up and stressing their past and at no point ever does anyone say they don't remember what happened out there. shauna literally wrote journals. they are all constantly dragging each other back down into the wilderness and the culture that they established out there. to have shauna now turn around and say that they all don't remember what happened out in the wilderness is just so ridiculous and undoes so much of the adult timeline and the weight of all of their characters and their actions. the only person who has some established reason to not remember everything is taissa, and to suddenly make everyone share in this trauma induced memory loss just undercuts it

I know it’s silly to focus on this and I should just accept it’s a TV show and sometimes plans change in the writing process, but I just can’t get past my frustration at the clear retcon in the Pit Girl scene and I need to briefly rant about it.

In the pilot, it is absolutely clear that there are only 8 survivors in this scene:

And now in 3x10 there’s conveniently a bench right there with the other survivors that was not there before:

With any other scene, I would be more willing to just look past it and accept that it doesn’t really matter, but this has arguably been the most prominent and speculated-on scene of the entire series up to this point. I kind of wish the writers had stuck to their original plan.

also it wasn't a ploy solely to let nat escape. they were trying to take shauna out. mari saying "you deserve everything that's coming to you". gen actively trying to separate tai and shauna bc they need shauna isolated. shauna wasn't just being paranoid her survival instincts were on point. mel WAS ACTUALLY coming for her and in the end couldn't walk that last mile. 25yrs later she didn't make the same mistake.
