I’m getting this for our cosplays as we have a list of busty babes on our list and every time we attempt to cosplay one of them some asshat decides to make rude comments about how “tiny girls shouldnt try to cosplay as my wifu” or “your tits arent even big enugh to look  like her” and other cringe inducing bs.

I was going to say this as part of another post but I think it deserves its own.

Stop instructing singlets on how to treat people with DID/OSDD.

Every system is different. Every part in every system is different. Singlets will inevitably ask how they’re supposed to act in response to parts, and they can find conflicting information at every turn because every system is different.

The only acceptable answer to “I have a friend with DID, how should I act when (they switch/a little is fronting/they dissociate/etc)” is “Ask your friend about it.”

Not all younger parts want to be coddled and play with stuffed animals. Some do, but not all. Not all systems want their switches to be recognized by others and commented on. Some do, but not all. Not all parts want to be referred to by name. Some do, but not all.

Don’t create an uncomfortable situation for another system by making blanket statements about how systems/parts should be treated based on what you like.

Imagine if you told someone that all younger parts want hugs because your younger parts like hugs. And then they went on to try to hug their friend, whose younger part is phobic of physical contact due to abuse. See the problem here?

If you do feel compelled to give advice, please, please do it along the lines of “In my experience, [these things] really helped in a similar situation, but you should ask your friend what they want you to do because everyone is different.” (Obviously you can talk more casually than I can type, but that’s the gist of it.)

Just try to keep in mind that the experiences and needs of other systems may be different from yours, and proceed from there.

what is it with singlets and saying “i’ve never seen anyone with an ACTUAL diagnosis” and “it’s extremely rare and (insert some offensive adjective)” concerning DID

like do they think not believing in something is gonna make it not real
