OPTION C: PHONELESS
Saturday April 22, 2017 I locked away my phone for 24 hours. Here are the results.
Morning Thoughts: My first thought immediately when waking up is to check the time. It was annoying to have to go all the way to the living room to look at the only non-digital clock in my home.
Afternoon Thoughts: I thought I might hang with friends to help pass the tme more quickly but I didn’t have any way to call or text to contact them directly so that idea was very short-lived.
Evening Thoughts: I never realized how much I used my phone to put me to bed everynight. I was having an extremely difficult time falling asleep and kept tossing and turning every few minutes.
Overall Thoughts:
Not a fun task one bit. I felt like Ii was missing out on everything, important emails, calls, and text were all haunting me throughout the day. Time was so much slower than I thought I’d be and it was extremely obnoxious. I’m not sure if I relate to my generation any better or less but It definitely scares me how I was absolutely lost without my phone. I don’t think I’ll be trying this again anytime soon.

Assignment 14
Final Video Idea & Strategy
For this video I will be using stop motion technique to make everyday desk objects come to life. For preparation I’ve gathered some items (stapler, paperclips, scissors, etc,) and cleared my desk for it to become a shooting space. I will set aside time each day to take the photos needed. Afterwards, I will add the sound effects in for each movement.

Option A: Sharing
BLOG POST:
What are the pros and cons of sharing your works-in-progress and ideas online?
For me personally, I think the biggest pro would be that that you can get more feedback from a lot more people. A con would be that you're putting your work at risk to possibly be stolen.
How might this affect our culture?
It might make it easier for artist to connect with other creator’s. It also just means maybe physical critiques will stop occurring in the future.
What are the potential rewards and hazards of putting out work and ideas that are unfinished?
There’s also the possibility of someone stealing your ideas, that’s just a risk you have to take when posting your work for others to see on the internet.
How will you feel if there are strangers giving you feedback -- positive and negative?
Personally, I’m pretty good taking advice; good or bad, usually negative criticisms don’t bother me and positive ones are welcome. Normally stranger’s critique my work anyways so the only difference is that it would be via the internet.
Can you prepare for negative responses?
Yes, you can never fully please anyone so there is always someone bound to have a negative response.

Project #3 Draft: Infographic
For this project we are each doing infographics. My theme that I am choosing to go with is a more informational piece rather than statistically. My infographic will be on character archetypes commonly seen in literaure and movies. So far I have nine characters that I’ve created as well as colored in to test color palettes. I’ve also added some text for subtitles/subtext as well as captions for each design. Overall I feel that although I still have much more to complete thatI have a good start on the project.

New Tech: VR vs. Gest
Virtual Reality Head sets
I find this particular piece of technology to be amazing because it allows its users to view the world in entirely different way. VR head sets are mostly used in games and takes the user in into a different world completely. I find this to be a very unique device because you can experience something new each time you use it.
Gest ©
The Gest is a device that lets you type and manage your devices using only your hands/fingers. While I do think this is a unique concept, the product seems like it would have many bugs and issues in regards to functionality. I think that this is more of a novelty tech item instead of practical one because I can’t see anyone in the future going great lengths to throw out their mouse and keyboard and use Gest as a replacement. In addition to this on the website for this, the product is vaguely explained and doesn’t really show people how to use it or how it functions the way it does.

Trip to the Detroit Institute of Art (2.24.2017)
About The Visit
Over Spring Break one thing I did was to make sure I visited the D.I.A. This is a place that I am very fond of since it is in detroit an area I was brought up in grew up in for a majority of my life. Each time I visit I often find that those same happy memories and fondness of my home town are reflected in my emotions that I feel from looking many of the pieces. The D.I.A. is an extremely large place and It is very easy to lose yourself in thoughts and commentary and get lost in the artwork and exhibits itself. This trip I was crunched for time so I had to make a choice of which exhibits I would choose to see that day. As a result I went to visit the Renaissance Exhibits (To reflect and connect lessons I had been taught in AH 101) and the Modern/Contemporary Art Exhibits because the is what I always find the most interesting to view.
About The Artwork
The pieces that I show in this post are from the contemporary art exhibit. These pieces consisted of a wide variety of size and colors ranging from monochromatic to colorful. What I find most interesting about these pieces/this particular exhibit is the majorly continuous use of gestural lines and markings throughout the work to create some sort of form or attention grabber. These types of work almost alway immediately awaken the excitement inside of my mind. In the moment I always feel as if I am the artist and I am holding a paint brush ready for my next strike. Maybe I enjoy the aesthetic of the pieces or maybe the content animates my brain but I’d like to think the movement or “violence” in the lines generates this feeling for me. However, in all honestly I will never truly be sure and I think that's what makes the artwork successful in the end: creating emotion.

Project #2: Monstrous You
REFLECTION:
Although I maintained a close match to my original two words narcissistic and charming (which I later changed to narcissistic and caring) My original idea and concept changed drastically from start to finish. I was really unhappy with my first draft and felt as if there was no flow and everything was just all over the place throughout the composition. I found when I took a break from trying to force everything to work and stepped out of my usually work place that this final composition came to me quite easily and is much more aesthetically pleasing.
DESCRIPTION:
Meet Ainyar. Ainyar likes money and staring at itself in the mirror all day. This monster is very self absorbed and cares mostly about itself.
However, Ainyar isn’t just mean and greedy. Ainyar also has a caring side too. It cares about its passions, family, and friends too.

Project 2 DRAFT
I’m enjoying this project so far. We have a lot of creative freedom and I think this project has an interesting concept to it. As for my composition it’s a bit busy and overwhelming for the time being. I still have a lot to work on with regards to the image but Ii think I have a great start and solid ideas for now.

Word 1 “Charming”
The crowd represents how people who are charming attract a lot of friends/people in their life.
The crown is in word association and almost a play on words with the word “charming” because the first thing I personally think of when I hear the word charming is the typical Prince charming image. I chose the crown because it symbolizes that.
The candy represents the sweet nature of charming people that attract so many people in their life.
Word 2 “Narcissistic”
The mirror represents the self obsessive personality traits a narcissist may have.
The balloon represents an “air head” personality trait a narcissist may have and how when it comes to listening to other people things may just go in and out their ears due to being stubborn.
The money represent greed and how narcissist usually only have their best interest at heart sometimes

Texting Culture
Emailing, calling, face-to-face, there are a ton of ways for people to communicate with one another. My personal preference for communication is primarily texting, which comes as no surprise as many millennials and people of my generation have a great dependence on the technology.
When it comes to texting, I usually do it as a quick means to get in contact with someone I need to talk to. I tend to text people during the day since I mostly use it for conversational purposes. It also depends on how close I am personally with the person I am texting. If I am texting a close friend I usually don’t mind texting them during later hours because I know they won’t mind and will most likely answer. It mostly goes down to courtesy and when I would want someone to text me during the morning, day, or night.
Each form of communication has its own set of perks and challenges. I created a chart to show the pros and cons of each one.
