Ian McKellen says that all gay people should be trans allies
Sir Ian McKellen urges gay people to be better allies to the transgender community.
The legendary actor and Stonewall co-founder joined It’s a Sin star Olly Alexander for a special LGBT+ History Month talk on TikTok on February 25, Pink News reports.
Sir Ian said:
“I do hear people – gay people – talk about transgender people in very much the same terms as people used to talk about your common or garden gay.
“The connection between us all is we come under the queer umbrella – we are queer. I quite like being queer actually.
“The problems that transgender people have with the law are not dissimilar from what used to be the case for us, so I think we should all be allies really.“
This is not the first time the actor has stood up to transphobes.
Speaking to lifestyle magazine Attitude, the veteran star talked about how happy he was about Elliot Page coming out as transgender.
He felt “so disappointed” with himself for not recognizing the struggles that the then-teenage actor could have been facing when they worked together.
The actor talked about why it is important to be honest with oneself.

I'm harping on and on about I'm Still Here because, well, it's more than national pride going on here. I'll explain:
Our cinema industry is stereotyped as being only capable of making absolutely terrible dreck, peppered with curse words, sex and violence. The acclaim I'm Still Here is receiving has breathed a whole new life to Brazilian cinema. People are rediscovering absolute jewels we produced, but that unfortunately ended up ignored, forgotten and even weaponized thanks to this stereotype.
Also, this touches on a still painful part of our history. From 1964 to 1985, Brazil was under a military dictatorship. Censorship, extra-judicial arrests, torture, forced disappearances, people being killed for fighting against the regime and their death certificates claiming it was actually suicide... all that, all too common. Rubens Paiva, whose story is portrayed in the film, was one of those. Tortured, disappeared, and his wife Eunice, the protagonist briliantly portrayed by our Fernanda Torres, never got to find his body and had to fight for decades to even get a proper death certificate for Rubens. Hell, our former president Dilma Rousseff was herself a victim of torture. And yet, there are still those who say it was a good thing...
A dictatorship. A good thing. Guess where this kind of shit comes from? Hint: the same side who wants to defund all kinds of culture that doesn't bend the knee to their ideology and thus happily propagates the stereotype that Brazilian cinema is drivel and drivel only.
I'm Still Here is poignant up to the title, because it's us, it's Brazil saying we're still here, we haven't forgotten and if you could do us a favor, please acknowledge our presence, our history, what we have to say.
And we have plenty to say after all these years.

Think, Donna, when you met Rose in that parallel world, what did she say? Just... the darkness is coming.

Monty Python: The Meaning of Live review (2014)
I just watched Monty Python: The meaning of live which was basically a behind the scenes of the 2014 live shows but also talked through the history of the pythons performing live. I love any sort of behind the scenes documentary so I knew that I was going to love it (I had watched it before many years ago).
It was interesting to hear about the process of making the show as well as seeing the pythons interacting with each other behind the scenes (which lead to some really funny moments that made me cackle with laughter - I was thinking about creating a 'my favourite moments from the documentary either here on Tumblr or on Youtube depending on the length of the video).
Some parts were hard to watch though as you could see Terry J really struggling with his words and having to read off cards and it just made me sad but also wanting at that moment to give him a hug.
It kind of made me wish I could have gone to see them live eventhough I didn't know Monty Python existed then, I was a tween so my parents probably wouldn't have let me go anyway. Actually fun fact (but not really lol) the second to last show was on my birthday so imagine if I went and saw them on my birthday. I like imagining that bc I'm delusional.
Anyway, if you want to watch it I put a link

Please, do not ignore my message. 💔
If I knocked on your door asking for food and medicine while my child cried from hunger and cold in my arms, would you refuse to help me? 😢
Unfortunately, despite the ceasefire, we are still living under extremely harsh conditions. We have no home, and our torn tent barely protects us from the cold and rain. We lost our jobs, and we have no source of income to provide for our basic needs, such as food, medicine, and baby formula, except through your donations. 😓💔
Our fundraising campaign has significantly slowed down in recent days, and we are no longer able to secure our essential needs. 😢
We appeal to your compassionate hearts to continue supporting us and donating to us. 🥹🙏

My Monty Python merch part 1
I don't think I've ever showed my Monty Python merch even on my old account years ago. So here we go (this is part 1 which is merch that I bought or I got given as a present as I have DVD's as well which are more my parents that they got before I got into python but I'm counting it as part of my merch collection)
Most of this stuff you can get either on Amazon, ebay or charity shops/thrift stores. I don't know whether you can get the 50th anniversary booklet from any of the places above as I got it from the Radio Times website (if you don't know it's basically a weekly magazine that tells you the week's tv and films). I don't know whether it is still available on the Radio Times website or if you don't live in the UK, you can buy anything from their online shop. I'll have to check. I just checked it's sold out on the Radio Times website 😔. I don't know where else you could get it

So true frfr ❤❤
The Six Idiots is (impo) probably one of the only other British Comedy Troupes (that I know at least) where none of the members are actually gay/queer but then they also come out with probably one of the best queer/LGBTQIA+ representation in their projects ever.
This is one of the reasons why I love them so much 🥰❤️
