Sugar Addiction? Here’s How To Win the Battle
Why sugar addiction is natural and healthy
So a good place to begin is right at the beginning.
When you are born the first thing you want to do as a new born baby is go to your mothers breast and start feeding on her breast milk.
Mother’s breast milk contains some protein and lots of carbohydrates and fat.
It’s very sweet because it contains healthy, natural sugar. The main sugar is called lactose, which when broken down is turned into 2 other types of sugar called galactose and glucose.
There are high amounts of lactose in human breast milk, and interestingly the bigger an animal’s brain (in relation to body weight) and the more brain it has to grow, the more lactose there will be in the milk. (1)
Let’s look at some facts …
As soon as we are born we feed on our mother’s milk, which contains lots of sugar and by its very nature it is very sweet. So as the saying goes, as humans we have a natural sweet tooth, thanks to mother nature.
Our bodies run on glucose a simple sugar.
Our brains literally light up when we eat sweet foods. It tells us to eat more of them as the chemical dopamine is released, making you feel happier.
Our tongues have taste buds and some of these are setup for tasting sweet foods.
There is no other food that can give your body a quicker boost of energy than sugar because it is digested, absorbed and metabolized very quickly.
But sugar is bad for you, right? But why do you suffer from sugar addiction?
It’s true – highly processed sugary foods are bad for your health.
However, a plant that’s high in natural whole food carbohydrates is your superior form of nutrition.
This plan can help you:
Balance your hormones naturally
Reach and maintain a healthy weight
Fill your body with a vast array of health promoting nutrients
Allow you to eat lots of sweet things, but not overeat
Feel in better control of your food choices
Help make you feel energetic and clear of mind
Some science researchers believe that there could be up to 4,000 different phytonutrients in plant foods, which include antioxidants that are so important for your health, protecting you from disease and premature aging! (2)
So if you experience sugar addiction, there is a very good and natural reason why this is the case and you don’t need to stop eating it.

Gut Health- How to Best Improve It
Gut health is central to the health of your hormones, immune system, weight and overall health Hormonal imbalances and autoimmune diseases, like Hashimoto’s Thyroditis, skin issues, fatigue, brain fog and many other health issues can all be linked to your gut health.Gut health is a big and popular topic in the world of alternative medicine. Your gut’s basic role is to digest the foods you eat and then absorb what nutrients it needs from these foods, while excreting the rest. When your gut is working properly it forms a barrier that controls what gets absorbed into your bloodstream. However, sometimes this barrier breaks down and starts allowing partially digested food, bacteria and toxins into the body.
This can then cause inflammation and your body to attack these unwanted intruders.
Factors that affect your Gut Health
There are many reasons why you can have gut imbalances and these include:
Various gut infections,
Nutrient deficiencies,
Antibiotics,
Stress,
Toxic overload,
Unhealthy diet,
Alcohol consumption.
You also need to pay attention to your gut restoration if you have problems with your hormones.
How your gut bacteria rules your hormones.
Gut bacteria plays a huge role in your health and it affects your:
Absorption of nutrients from the foods you eat
Metabolism
Immune system
Mood and behaviour
These bacteria also have a large role to play when it comes to our hormone levels because they can directly affect them. These bacteria both produce hormones themselves and are affected by the hormones that our own bodies produce as well.In fact, some of our gut bacteria have specific roles to play when it comes to regulating circulating estrogen levels in our bodies.Estrogen plays a vital role in human health, including:
Cell replication
Reproduction
Fat deposition
Bone health
Cardiovascular health
Estrogen is made primarily by your ovaries. It then circulates through your body to your uterus and breasts and other organs, until it reaches your liver where it’s inactivated. Inactivated estrogen is then supposed to be excreted from by your body through your poop.Yet, if your gut is out of balance, only some of the estrogen may be excreted from your body with the rest remaining to negatively affect your estrogen levels. Now when the gut microbiome is balanced, then the microbes that affect the metabolism of estrogens should be working optimally. They should be helping your body to maintain a healthy balance of these hormones. However if your gut is out of balance then an excess of estrogen or even a deficiency can result.Having excess estrogen in your body for example can have serious implications for your health, including:
Breast, cervical, endometrial and ovarian cancer
Endometriosis
Prostate cancer
PCOS
So what is it that you need to focus on to improve your gut health?
Removing the foods that can cause inflammation.
Dealing with gut infections, bacterial, fungal and parasites.
Rebuilding your healthy gut bacteria.
How to restore your gut health,
So what can you do to reverse your gut issues? The answer is to remove the root cause or causes.I know many people will start taking supplements to heal their gut issues, including a leaky gut, but what you really need to focus on is dealing with the actual cause of your gut issues. When most people deal with hormone imbalances, they normally try to deal with the symptoms themselves and not the root cause. What many people aren’t aware of is that their gut bacteria plays a crucial role in their body’s hormonal balance.Best Foods For Gut Health
Well, let’s start off with what typically happens to many people with gut problems. They go to the doctor, get tested and get prescribed medications. Most doctors don’t even discuss the best foods for gut health with their patients. Some might advise avoiding gluten, but usually that’s as far as it goes.I know this from my own personal experience from my long term digestive problems in the past. It’s probably not a surprise to you that in order to keep your gut healthy, you need to eat a variety of healthy foods.
Yet, what’s the best foods for gut health & what foods should you avoid?Eating a healthy, high fiber foods are the best foods for gut health.Whole plant foods are high in fiber, hydrating, full of great nutrition & can work to help you reverse your gut imbalances, including Candida, SIBO and IBS.

Diet To Avoid For Gut Health
Many people turn to a low carb diet, like Paleo or Keto due to believing the false idea that all carbs are bad for you and are simply laden with sugar, which they will tell you is really unhealthy. And this is typically the case when it comes to dealing with a Candida overgrowth. You must starve them – the fungus and you of any or almost all sugar.
So you go on the anti candida diet and eat little or no carbs, but there is a huge problem with this approach.
First, it’s very high in fat, which increases your risk of insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, hear disease and even hormonal imbalances.
Second, you starve yourself of carbs and this can lead to cravings, low energy levels and generally feeling down and miserable.
Third, the Candida overgrowth will typically still persist no matter how little carbs you eat, which really shows that sugar is not the problem here. This is why people suffer from a Candida overgrowth even on an anti-Candida diet.
Plant foods and their fiber are vital for a healthy balanced gut.Certain bacteria, for example, feed off the plant fiber and create nutrients that your body needs to be healthy.
If you greatly reduce these then this can have serious repercussions for someone’s health, now and in the future.Discover more in my VIDEO!

Hypothyroidism Weight Loss- Before & After Story of a Nutrition Coach
Hypothyroidism Weight Loss – My Story
When I got diagnosed with hypothyroidism in my early twenties, I got put on medication straight away. At the time, I did not know what I do now, so I just followed the doctors advice and only later did I become aware of the link between diet and health, my consciousness and the way my body works.
The majority of blogs and videos out there that you can watch about balancing hypothyroidism weight loss, as well as adrenal fatigue and gut issues will tell you to restrict carbohydrates and go heavy on protein and fat.
This is what I did for 2 years with zero success :(
Eventually, I realised I could not carry on this way. Because I literally starved myself of carbohydrates and I suffered with terrible fatigue.
So I caved in and started to eat lots of carbs … on top of all the fat I was eating at a time. Needless to say, I gained excess weight. Not because of carbs themselves, but because I didn’t have the right plan to follow.
My body felt tired, sluggish, I had cellulite and my health was poor. I knew I had to continue searching for solutions. I switched to a new lifestyle plan – plant foods and low fat. I changed other lifestyle areas.
The stubborn excess weight melted away naturally without too much effort and I was able to maintain it year in and year out.
Even when I gave birth to my daughter (after years of fertility issues and after I healed PCOS), I dropped the excess weight and maintained my natural 120 lbs. I’ve been at my healthy weight for the last 9 years.
So if you feel really frustrated about your hypothyroidism weight loss, suffering with more and more fatigue, feeling anxious, experiencing low libido, low levels of confidence, and hair loss …
Know that there is a way.
Steps To Follow For Hypothyroidism Weight Loss[2]
The first step that I recommend my clients focusing on is changing their diet and switching to one that is anti-inflammatory. So if you have hypothyroidism and 90% of people who do, have Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, then switching to an anti inflammatory plant foods diet that is low in fat is very important.
Changing other aspects of your lifestyle like your exercise plan, your calories in and out, balancing your liver and git health are also all important. Here’s something to remember: as you get older and go into the menopause and beyond it, your hormone levels will naturally decline.
So the possibility of gaining more weight will increase. Unless you take care of yourself now as you are aging, then things will only unfortunately get worse.
Studies show that a vegan diet tended to be associated with protection against hypothyroidism as well as lower body weight, which may actually protect you against hypothyroidism.
Watch my video above to focus on the right steps to help you achieve hypothyroidism weight loss!

[1] Hypothyroidism Weight Loss – My Before And After Story
Hypothyroidism [1]weight loss may seem like an impossible dream, with you feeling like you gain weight just by looking at food. When you have hypothyroidism, your metabolism slows down.
Instead of burning calories easily, your body starts turning them into body fat and this is why you start gaining weight, which can also lead to other serious health challenges.
Inflammation, estrogen dominance, fatigue, other hormonal imbalances – these are just some of the health issues you can start experiencing.
Yet, there’s a way forward.
In my video today, I’m sharing my before and after hypothyroidism weight loss and what changes you can implement, so you too can lose that extra weight and feel amazing in your body.

Balance Your Hormones - RawsomeHealthy
The Hormones One Must Balance As We Age…..

Here’s one interesting fact about hormones – as you age, the hormone levels in your body in general decline.
So by the time you reach your mid 30s and early 40s, you can start noticing significant changes in your body. You might find that you are not as healthy as you thought you were, your body is just not as robust as it once was and you’re starting to experience some health issues.
For example, you can start gaining weight and feel heavier. You might feel fatigued or even exhausted after doing just the usual every day things, let alone doing exercise. You might not feel as sexy anymore and your libido has declined.
You can suffer with anxiety and perhaps even depression because your life and your health are not where you want them to be.
So let’s take a look at some of the hormones that you really need to stay on top of to help you age with glow and grace. I talk about them in this VIDEO
Below are the Four main Hormones Need to Balanced:
Estrogen: Estrogen is a female hormone that is produced by the ovaries, as well as the adrenal glands. However, it is present in men too, but at lower levels. This is because, estrogen, which is also known as estradiol, is the main sex hormone for women, just as testosterone is for men. Estrogen controls how we react and interact with drink and food.
Insulin: This hormone is responsible for ensuring normal levels of blood sugar or glucose. If there is too much sugar within the body, insulin is unable to transport glucose to body cells. This is known as insulin resistance, which is a condition responsible for diabetes and obesity.
Cortisol: Cortisol is a stress hormone that is produced assist as during stressful situations. The more stressed you are, the more it is produced. This, in turn, encourages the body to store visceral fat around your abdomen. Additionally, it causes sugar cravings and food addictions.
Adiponectin: This is a fat burning hormone. Hence, the less it is produced, the more fat is likely to increase within your body.
Causes of Hormonal Imbalances
Now, what causes hormonal imbalances? You absolutely need to be aware of this in order to fix your hormones and lose weight.
Actually, a number of factors are linked to the imbalance of hormones within our body. Of course, knowing the cause of the imbalance helps one map out the proper way to treat it.
Understanding the cause also allows us to prevent them from occurring in the first place.
There are natural causes of hormonal fluctuations such as puberty, perimenopause and menopause. However, the below causes are due to the choices we make.
Below are some of the major causes of hormonal imbalances:
Poor diet
Toxins
Sedentary and unhealthy lifestyle
Extreme stress levels
Poor gut health
Poor liver health
Inflammation
Exposure to toxins
So, now that we’ve highlighted some of the major causes, how do you fix r treat hormonal imbalances?
How To Fix Your Hormones and Lose Weight[1]
Change your diet: Most of the time, our hormone imbalances are connected to what we eat. When changing your diet, think plant-based foods and high carb diet. For instance, increase your fruit and vegetable intake, which will also increase your fibre intake. The fibre helps in the excretion of certain hormones, such as estrogen, which can help balance it out. Fruits is very high in antioxidants and other nutrients. Antioxidants help fight free radicals, which are responsible for inflammation and cell damage.
Reduce inflammation: One way of reducing inflammation is by changing your diet to a plant-based diet. Healthy whole plant foods reduce inflammation and increase metabolism.
Do a liver detox: The liver is responsible for regulating and removing different types of hormones from the body. From sex and adrenal hormones to cortisol and thyroid hormones to name a few. If the liver is not functioning properly, you’ll have a hormonal imbalance. A liver detox will help move things along and encourage your hormones to balance out again.
Gut repair: To repair your gut, you must change your diet, deal with any digestive problems (like Candida, SIBO, IBS, parasites, etc.) and add gut healing supplements, like probiotics to increase your healthy gut bacteria. These healthy bacteria also aid in the proper regulation and production of hormones, such as insulin.
Sleep more: getting enough sleep not only allows your body to recover and restore, but also keep hormones, such as cortisol, balanced. By getting at least 8 hours of sleep, your body is also able to detox toxins, hormones and other substances from your body effectively.
Exercise: If you suffer from mild to chronic stress, exercise can help alleviate t symptoms significantly. In fact, getting your blood flowing by exercising helps you think clearer, sleep better and even feel happier. This way, you are also able to make better and healthier life choices.
Based on all the above – what’s your personal plan to fix your hormones, lose weight and age gracefully ?

Candida, Mistakes to Avoid & Ways to Cure: From Your Nutrition Coach.
Today I’m going to share with you my story about how I healed my Candida of 2 years in just 3 days WITHOUT restricting my fruit sugar and carbohydrates.
If you’re experiencing bloating, fatigue, anxiety and skin issues – Candida could be the cause.
Today I’m going to share with you my story about how I healed my Candida of 2 years in just 3 days WITHOUT restricting my fruit sugar and carbohydrates.
If you’re experiencing bloating, fatigue, anxiety and skin issues – Candida could be the cause.
Are you making these 3 big Candida diet mistakes when addressing your Candida overgrowth? Most people do … and I was when I was following a traditional anti-Candida diet.
So in my video and blog today, I’m going to be diving into the 3 biggest Candida diet mistakes that you want to avoid.
What is Candida?Candida is a microbe that naturally lives in your body. It can multiply due to rises in blood sugar levels, which it feeds off before returning back to its normal balance state in the matter of a few hours.
However, when blood sugar levels stay elevated and so out of balance, you can then end up with elevated levels of Candida as well.
When Candida levels go out of balance, they can also break down the wall of the intestine and enter the bloodstream. They can release toxic by-products into your body, causing a whole host of other health issues as well as a leaky gut.
What causes Candida?
There are various reasons why you may have elevated levels of Candida, including:
A diet that’s high in refined carbohydrates and sugar.
A diet that’s high in fat and animal products.
Consuming a lot of alcohol.
Taking oral contraceptives.
A high-stress lifestyle.
Taking antibiotics that killed too many of your friendly gut bacteria.
One of the major reasons why people experience Candida and blood sugar related issues is because of unhealthy diets that are high in fat.
How I cured Candida … with fruit!
I’ve been following a fruit-based mostly raw food plan since 2009 and with the help of this lifestyle I was able to heal my Candida in just 3 days!
Prior to this delicious lifestyle, I followed an anti-Candida diet for 2 years with no success.I was tired of constant sugar restrictions, cravings and subsequent binges. So I kept searching for a simpler, sweeter and more sustainable solution to overcome Candida.
I tried endless supplements, herbs, superfoods, tinctures, colonic cleanses, and many other approaches, but they didn’t help me heal my Candida problems.
And then … I discovered a brand new and unconventional system that healed my Candida … with fruit! As well as balancing my Candida very quickly, I dropped 10lbs in weight eating all the food I cared for.
I also recovered from severe adrenal fatigue, hypoglycaemia, digestive and hormonal problems.I was able to overcome infertility, conceive our beautiful daughter, and even became an athlete and completed a marathon!
3 Big Candida Diet Mistakes
The first Candida diet mistake that people make is following a traditional anti-Candida diet where you have to exclude, or dramatically restrict your carbs.
This means focusing on eating lots of protein and fat in your diet, instead of carbohydrates.
So people will then typically start excluding processed carbs from their diet like white bread, cookies, pizza and cakes and this is a good thing to do.
But this is a big Candida diet mistake. It also causes people to remove healthy carbohydrates from their diet, such as fruits, which are actually super healthy for you.
And when you remove these from your diet you are missing out on all the great nutrition that they give you, including very importantly the fiber, which you must have for a healthy balanced gut.
I have worked with hundreds of people to help them balance their overall health and gut properly and having plenty of healthy whole foods plant fiber in your diet is a must.
Yes, exclude the carbs that are damaging to the body so we are talking about highly processed carbs here, but do go heavy on the carbs that are amazing for your body like fruits and also lower the fat percentage in your diet.
The second Candida diet mistake people make is that they think supplements alone will heal their Candida overgrowth. In truth, they will need to go deeper because a Candida overgrowth will have a root cause.
This can include gut dysbiosis, hormonal imbalances, contraceptive pills, weak immune system, viruses and pathogens, parasites and bad bacteria, which can all be causing your candida to multiply and go out of balance.
So in order to avoid this Candida diet mistake, you need to take a holistic approach to your health.
The third Candida diet mistake people make is thinking that diet alone can restore their Candida issues.
Now from what I have seen from working with a lot of people over the years and some who are already eating a very healthy diet, including raw foodists, is that they think the diet alone will heal their Candida overgrowth and are surprised when it doesn’t work for them.
So what about your own health? Are you making any of these Candida diet mistakes yourself, and if so what are you going to do to correct them?

Pros & Cons of Intermittent Fasting: Your Nutrition Coach
Have you looked into intermittent fasting as a mean to help you lose weight and recover from hormonal imbalances (thyroid disorders, fertility issues, PCOS, fibroids, endometriosis, etc.), or an autoimmune disease like Hashimoto’s?
It’s typical for people who are real health seekers to look into different ways to improve their health and one of these is by doing intermittent fasting.
Now, intermittent fasting is where, for example, you go for 16 hours without any food and then have an 8 hour period where you eat your meals. For some people this window for eating can be a bit more or a bit less.

Just some of the benefits of intermittent fasting include:
Helps boost your metabolism – so help you lose excess weight
Aids your body with cleansing itself at a deeper level, so replacing older unwanted cells and reducing inflammation
Can aid longevity and help you look younger
So as you can see there are some really amazing benefits that can come from intermittent fasting.
The Pros And Cons Of Intermittent Fasting
But! One big issue that many people can face is that they think intermittent fasting can effect a big difference in their health, yet they still continue to eat an unhealthy diet and otherwise lead an unbalanced lifestyle.
Fasting for say 16 hours a day, but then eating a diet with unhealthy and disease causing foods in it for an 8 hour window won’t take you very far if anywhere at all.
So if you suffer with a serious health issue, like hormonal imbalances or an autoimmune disease, intermittent fasting is just one piece of the puzzle that is health. So you need to work on other aspects of your health as well to get the best outcome for yourself.

Exactly How Much Fruit Can You Eat With Candida? Answers Your Nutrition Coach!
If you’ve ever followed the anti-candida diet, I’m sure you’ve heard that you have to severely limit your carbs, including fruit.
Is this actually true? Watch this Video for a quick answer https://youtu.be/-1WqnVulAMc
Anti-Candida Diet And How Much Fruit Can You Eat?
When you have a candida overgrowth, you need to take the correct steps to balance it as quickly as possible.
Candida can lead to more serious health issues that can start developing in your body, for example it can cause leaky gut, which can then lead to autoimmune diseases, such as Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, Lupus or rheumatoid arthritis. It can also cause you a lot of other health issues, such as fatigue, bloating and anxiety.
People with Candida problems will often have parasi[1] tes in their body as well, like Blastocystis hominis and these bugs alone can be causing an autoimmune response in your body. There’s this huge myth that if you have Candida, you need to follow an anti-Candida diet and remove carbs and sugar from your diet.
So you’ll base your diet upon large amounts of fat and protein to get your calories vs carbs. But here’s the thing – an excess level of fat in the body is one of the main things that can contribute to a Candida overgrowth.
There is a big difference between eating refined sugar that you’ll find in soda drinks, candy bars and processed syrups, and those from a whole fruit. A meal of whole fruit provides you with a complete nutrient package.
It comes with its vitamins, minerals, fiber, natural sugars and phytonutrients, including antioxidants and all these work synergistically to help your body maintain optimal health. Too much fat intake can actually cause the fat to interfere with the uptake of blood sugar into the body’s cells.
This is why your Candida can start to multiply to eat the excess bloodsugar. The foods that you eat are converted to sugar (glucose) to feed your body’s cells.
So exactly how much fruit can you eat if you have a Candida overgrowth? What’s the best anti-Candida diet? Discover all in my video today and leave your comments below!

~7 Strategies To Balance Hormones And Reduce Inflammation From Your Nutrition Coach~
7 Strategies I Give My Clients To Balance Hormones And Reduce Inflammation
Lower your body fat percentage
The excess body fat that you may carry is biologically active.
It releases inflammatory molecules into your body on a consistent basis and can even lead to serious health challenges, like type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, hormone and fertility issues. We talk about how to reduce your body weight with raw and plant foods here.
2. Watch out for Endocrine Disruptors in your Environment
There are literally hundreds of chemical endocrine disruptors in our environment nowadays and these chemicals can have a very negative impact on our hormones.
Common sources of these unwanted chemicals are personal care products, canned food, drinking water, conventionally grown produce, dairy products, animal meat (including fish), plastic products, cleaning products and many more.
3. Fiber (from whole plant foods)
Most peoples diets are sorely lacking in this vitally important nutrient and the health benefits associated with it are seemingly endless. Fiber helps greatly with your digestion, elimination and attracting and nurturing friendly gut bacteria.
It also acts as a kind of brush that helps remove used and unwanted hormones from your body, like cholesterol and estrogen. These used and unwanted hormones can otherwise stay within the body and have the potential to cause serious health issues, such as heart disease and even cancer.
4. Remove unhealthy inflammatory Foods
You need to drop the dairy products and animal meats that themselves contain animal hormones and even antibiotics. There was a famous studycarried out called the Harvard Nurses Study, which followed 18,000 women.
They were trying to get pregnant for 8 years and as part of the study they noted down what foods they consumed. What they found was striking. They discovered that by adding just a single serving of meat per day, their risk of infertility increased by 30%. So this meant that eating meat and in particular poultry appeared to negatively interfere with their ovulation.
In fact, a single serving of chicken (half a chicken breast) a day was associated with more than a 50% increase in infertility.
Here are some other foods that can cause inflammation:
Processed carbs like white bread, cookies and pastries
General highly processed foods that lack in real nutrition and instead are stuffed full of chemical additives
Refined sugar and salt
Gluten
Fried food
Coffee
Alcohol
All these undermine your health and so negatively impact your hormones. So remove them from your diet and instead replace them with whole plant foods.
5. [1] Eat Healthy Fats, in Healthy Amounts and a Healthy Ratio
Only fats from whole plant foods need to be on your menu plan. So that means nuts, seeds, avocadoes, olives and coconut flesh. Oils are not healthy fats and here’s our article about them.
Your omega 6 to 3 ratio needs to be in balance as well, with 1:1 and up to 4:1 of Omega 6 to 3 being healthy ratios.
6. Appropriate Levels of vitamin D
Many of us live in climates that naturally have less than adequate amounts of sunlight and this can greatly impact our vitamin D levels.
If you don’t get enough vitamin D from sunlight or from fortified foods, then your next best choice is supplementation. Making sure that you have enough of the hormone we call vitamin D in your body is crucial for your general well-being.
7. HIIT and Strength Training
Science is now telling us that high intensity interval training (HIIT) is more beneficial for your body than long duration cardio exercise. Long cardio sessions can negatively impact hormones such as your thyroid hormones and increase cortisol levels and inflammation.
Interval training, along with strength training on the contrary actually increases human growth hormone, slows down ageing and helps you balance hormones.
One study showed how a 30-second sprint increased Human Growth Hormone by a whopping 430%! Ok, so let’s recap and go over the strategies to hep you balance your hormones naturally and reduce inflammation:
Lower your body fat percentage by balancing your diet and lifestyle
Watch for endocrine disruptors in your environment
Eat a fiber rich diet
Remove unhealthy, inflammatory foods from your diet
Eat healthy fats and healthy levels of fat, including a healthy omega ratio
Appropriate levels of vitamin D
Correct exercise routine
So how do you actually put all this together to create a plan to detoxify your body and balance hormones naturally? Well, to help you kickstart your hormone restoration journey, I’ve put together a FREE 1 day hormone reset plan, so make sure to download it now!

Plant Foods For Overcoming Autoimmune Disease
The National Institutes of Health in the US estimates up to 23.5 million Americans suffer from an autoimmune disease. (1) Others think this figure is way too conservative, and instead put the figure at around 50 million people in the US alone.A big problem with autoimmune disease is that if you already suffer with an autoimmune disease, then you are much more likely to develop other additional autoimmune diseases. As well as this, there is a close genetic relationship that exists among autoimmune disease sufferers, which means for example if your mother and sister have rheumatoid arthritis then you have an increased risk of developing the condition. (2)So I would definitely recommend that you start taking action today and improve your diet and lifestyle, rather than putting off these changes until you are diagnosed with an autoimmune disease or your condition gets even worse.
The Plant Foods Road Map For Overcoming Autoimmune Disease
Step 1: Exclude autoimmune triggers You might think that if you simply eat healthy foods in your diet that this alone is going to be good for your health and your autoimmune disease, but unfortunately this is not always the case.Having a certain food or foods in your diet can actually trigger your immune system to attack your body.Gluten, dairy and eggs are some of the well known autoimmune triggers.
Step 2: Include the foods that heal Eating a well-planned whole plant foods vegan diet that is low in fat, including saturated fat is a great start.Fruits and vegetables are the ideal foods and they are packed full of health promoting nutrients like fiber, anti-oxidants, vitamins and minerals and supply your body with its optimal fuel source which is carbohydrates and simple carbohydrates from fruits in particular.
Step 3: Restore your gut Fungal over growths, parasite infections, unhealthy bacterial over growths can all negatively impact your health and get in the way of you healing your disease. These kinds of unwanted infections can also cause what is known as a leaky gut, or increased intestinal permeability. This means that the lining of your gut does not work properly and instead starts allowing partially digested food, bacteria and toxins into your body. This can lead to an autoimmune disease, so repairing or protecting yourself from developing a leaky gut is hugely important for your health.
Step 4: Boost your immune system, correct deficiencies. Eating a well-balanced whole foods plant diet is a great way to heal your body, boost the health of your immune system and help deal with possible deficiencies. But sometimes supplementation is needed and we have seen this with our own clients. For instance if someone lives in a location where they get an inadequate amount of sunlight on a consistent basis then their vitamin D levels are not going to be where they need to be for optimal health, so supplementation can certainly play its part in this scenario.Another one is iron and supplementing with this at least initially can help you get your levels back to where you need them and at an optimal level if you find yourself with low levels and are suffering from symptoms of low iron.
Step 5: Optimize your environment (stress, exercise, etc.)You can eat the healthy foods and enjoy the warmest sunshine in the world, but if other lifestyle factors like stress, exercise or relationships are much less than ideal then these can seriously impact your health status. So living in a clean, pollution free or pollution free as possible environment, with healthy personal relationships and manageable stress levels, along with quality sleep are a must to further support and enhance you body’s ability to get healthy and stay healthy over the long-term

Best Food For Gut Health
Best Foods For Gut Health
It’s probably not a surprise to you that in order to keep your gut healthy, you need to eat a variety of healthy foods.
Yet, what’s the best foods for gut health and what foods should you avoid?
Eating a healthy, high fiber foods are the best foods for gut health.
Whole plant foods are high in fiber, very hydrating, full of great nutrition and can work to help you reverse your gut imbalances, including Candida, SIBO and IBS.
For example, in this video I talk about how I was able to resolve my Candida symptoms in a matter of days after following a traditional anti-Candida diet with no results.
https://youtu.be/_PjPd-nBnkE

Avoid This Diet For Gut Health
Plant foods and their fiber are vital for a healthy balanced gut.
Certain bacteria, for example, feed off the plant fiber and create nutrients that your body needs to be healthy.
If you greatly reduce these then this can have serious repercussions for someone’s health, now and in the future.

Reasons for Weight Loss Plateau
Weight Loss Plateau? 4 Surprising Reasons Why …
So let’s take a look at these 4 hormonal issues that can stall your weight loss or cause you to gain even more weight.
Low Thyroid
Suffering with a low functioning thyroid can cause many health issues and one of these is putting on excess weight. (1)
As your thyroid hormone levels become too low then your metabolism slows down and this then typically leads to your body burning less calories and so storing them as fat. The fact that you also have less energy to do exercise compounds the issue further.
High Cortisol
Most of us live in a world that causes us to get highly stressed. Unfortunately this high level of stress can have a very negative impact upon our health, including the health of our hormones and one in particular is cortisol.
Stress is a natural part of life.
In our distant past stress would have helped save us from attacks by wild animals where what is called our fight or flight mechanism would kick in. (2)
But what if this level of stress is experienced continually, over prolonged periods of time? Well this can lead to a lot of health and weight challenges.
Estrogen dominance
Estrogen dominance is one of the most common hormonal imbalances that women can experience. (3)
Estrogen is crucial to the functioning of the female body and is involved with many different processes.
These include bone health, insulin sensitivity, hunger and satiety the metabolism of cholesterol, our menstrual cycle and also our mood.
The problem is when estrogen levels become unbalanced and go too high, this can cause all manner of health problems and one of these is gaining excess weight.
Insulin resistance
Insulin is a hormone that does plays a number of roles in the human body and one of these is blood sugar control.
This is when your body’s cells don’t respond to insulin like they are supposed to (as insulin is the hormone that transports blood sugar to your body’s cells) and so then cause elevated blood sugar levels. (4)

Best Diet for Weight Loss and Thyroid

The best thyroid and weight loss diet
I reveal the best thyroid and weight loss diet in detail in my video, as well as scientific findings to back it up.
First, your diet needs to be high, versus low in carbohydrates. Research has shown us that going low carb can negatively affect the thyroid gland by:
A drop in metabolic rate and energy production (1)
Causing a fall in the active T3 thyroid hormone (2)
And by raising the thyroid blocking Reverse T3 hormone level (2)
All of these suppress your thyroid function and so negatively affect your health.
We work with many clients and ladies who suffer with thyroid problems and typically low thyroid issues where their thyroid gland under-performs, especially if they have followed a Paleo, Keto or other low carbohydrate diet.
In fact, studies have shown that plant diets are associated with a reduced risk of thyroid issues, whereas diets that contain animal products or omnivore diets were associated with an increased risk of hypothyroidism. (3)
Science also shows us that out of all the diets out there, a plant foods one is the best diet to go for if you want to release excess weight fast, as well as restore your health.
Raw fruits and vegetables are high in their water content, which will aid your natural detoxification, weight loss, digestion, elimination and speedy health restoration.

Is Stopping Thyroid Medication Good Idea?
Over the last 7 years, we’ve worked with hundreds of clients.
Hormonal, including thyroid imbalances are experienced by most of the women who come to work with us.
Whilst we’ve seen some of our clients successfully come off their thyroid medication, some women need to remain on it.
And if you want to try and wean yourself off it, you should definitely do this whilst under your doctor’s supervision, gradually, and by addressing other underlying factors that may be adversely affect your thyroid.
So here are just some of the reasons why you should not abruptly stop taking your thyroid medication.
1. Your body is reliant upon medication it must be given hormone medication as it just can’t produce any or anywhere near enough of its own.
If you have no thyroid due to a (thyroidectomy) or Hashimotos for a prolonged period of time, too much damage may have been caused and your thyroid can’t produce the hormones that are needed for your body to function properly. Coming off medication won’t help the issue …
2. HPT axis communication (hypothalamic-pituitary-thyroid gland). This is the communication network between your hypothalamus gland, pituitary gland (both in your brain) and your thyroid gland. If you are already taking thyroid medication for hypothyroidism, then this will interfere with this whole system.
The problem if you suddenly stop taking your thyroid hormone replacement is that your body has not had any time to adjust itself to the sudden loss of hormones that you have been giving it.
And this loss of hormones can actually take weeks or even months for your thyroid to start producing by itself again, if at all.
3. Your medication might not be the issue. You might be feeling really bad and have all the thyroid symptoms, but it may have little or nothing to do with your actual thyroid medication. Your diet, your gut health, nutrient levels, including other important lifestyle factors can have a very big impact upon your health and how you feel and this is something we see with so many of our clients who have thyroid issues.
4. Supplements can’t replace thyroid medication. Supplements should not be taken as a replacement for actual thyroid hormone medications.
They can certainly have their place in a healthy regime to support your thyroid, but there are many other factors to consider.
For example, taking large doses of iodine can actually hurt your thyroid gland instead of supporting it, as we explain here.
So here are a few more sensible actions that you can take instead of suddenly stopping your thyroid medication:
Work on removing the root cause of your thyroid imbalances, including optimizing your liver, gut, losing excess weight, changing your nutrition plan, etc.
Try a different hormone replacement if you feel your current one is not working well for you. Don’t be reluctant to go and see your doctor and explain how you are feeling. Symptoms are very important. If your doctor is not helpful, then find a new one.
Alter your dose of thyroid medication.
Support your thyroid with some supplementation that is going to help it function to its best potential,
