I saw a tiktok talking about how scenecore isn’t the same as scene and they’re two different things and I wanted to come here and talk about it for a sec bc I totally agree! And I’m not trying to “gatekeep” or anything, it’s just that they are two very different styles. Old scene, or just “scene,” isn’t as.. chaotic? If that makes sense? I’ve noticed nuscene is very bright neon-oriented and incorporates things like those chunky demonia boots and even aspects of glitchcore, rave, and decora style. While the two (scenecore and scene) have similarities and one’s inspiration stems from the other, they have somewhat branched into their own little thing in a way. Especially with the music taste. Scene is into very pop punkish, electropop dance, (and so forth) type of music. Scenecore has shown they’re very into things like glitchcore hyperpop type music. Loud and noisy and chaotic compared to the original scene music. Though they do have differences and I do see them as two different styles, i don’t think that necessarily means they can’t be sort of.. combined? You can like n dress both and still be scene and scenecore, and I think a lot of people might disagree with that, which I totally understand why- But if you listen to both genres of music, if you dress a little bit of both, you’d technically qualify as both since both have, essentially, the same mold/cut-out(?) of what makes you “scene.” Hell, the word scene is literally in scenecore.

It’s so nice 2 c tht scene has rly made a comeback even if there r drastic differences in modern/new scene and old scene. I’m more of an old scene fan rather than the new modern glitchcore eyestrain kind of scene but i really like that kids these days have their own kind of version and experience with scene rather than trying to exactly replicate something of the past if that makes sense? Like I get it I miss that time too but !! Making the most of what’s available to you right now and enjoying your present is also good!! So hell yeah go you keep making your kandi and keep going to the 99¢ store for studded colored belts and raiding Claire’s every time they bring in new things because their stuff is better for scene than modern hot topic is. Keep on finding ways to diy shit you find at the thrift store and customizing things on your own in order to get to a style you really love and enjoy. Keep blasting your nightcore and vocaloid and webcore/glitchcore music and doin ur cool tiktok dances n lacing ur kicks with kandi and adding those expensive dreamy demonia boots to ur wishlist titled “I’ll get u someday.” Keep making ur badass carrds and blog pages and looking for MySpace alternatives and trying to make ur tumblr webpage layout look like oldschool MySpace. It’s so nice to see How scene kids of today make the most of what’s available to them. It’s so different from OG scene kids, yeah, but of course it is. That’s totally fine. It’s great, I love it. They’ve made it their own.
