Snape: I'm so good at Occlumency that the Dark Lord has no idea I'm lying to him.
Voldemort after 2 seconds in Snape's mind: Yikes on a bike. Never going in there again.

Yes.
Neville was bullied by his grandma. Literally, this mad bitch said Neville is not as good as his parents while they were in the psychiatric ward not even remembering their own son.
Macgonagall always seems to be annoyed by Neville. She talks with him like he is worse than any student.
But Snape got all shit. First of all, there is no normal teacher in Hogwarts, they are all problematic. Second, Snape is a potion teacher. Potions are very dangerous and Neville puts everyone in danger. Of course Snape is pissed off.
I don’t say it’s okay to be so stern and mean to literally children. But come on, why Snape got all shit while there are worse teachers. And I am not even talking about fake Moody or Lockhart. Or Quirrell.
Hagrid was a bad teacher. He puts his students in danger. Lupin was a bad teacher, he didn’t drink potion and could kill any student. Trewlany literally says to the children they will die tragically.
Boohoo, Snape is the worst because he called Neville an idiot and was angry with him.
Hermione had a boggart as Macgonagall and I don’t think that’s healthy studying.
But when there is an ugly man, who isn’t nice, that’s the problem. And because of what? Because snaters don’t have brains.
Also I don’t think that means Snape isn’t kind. Man literally does anything to protect children from dying and tortures. I could write a whole new book why Snape is kind character but honestly I don’t have so much time lol

YALL did I ever tell you about the time I had to break it to a marauders stan/Snape hater that Snape was poor, lily was middle class and the marauders were all upper class?
I'll explain.
I was on pintrest. I came across a post about Snape (wasn't pro or anti, just neutral, it was a fact post based on a scene in the books) and I made a comment. Several months later I get notified about a reply to this comment. The person makes it extremely clear they have never read the books in their entire life, and proceeds to call Snape, and I quote, a "fascist rich white boy".
Their 'proof' that Snape grew up rich was that he 'talked like a rich person'.
After laughing so hard I almost wet myself, I very gently broke the news to this person that Snape was in fact a poor white boy from a factory town who's dad was a drunk who likely worked in one of the factories, and who's mum was likely a stay at home mum. I then very gently informed them that from book accounts of Lily and her family, they were far more likely to be middle class than lower class like Snape's family. And finally, I had the absolute pleasure of informing them that every single marauder were rich, pure bloods and white.
They never replied, and eventually their comment disappeared, but I cannot begin to tell you how exquisite the feeling of superiority was in that moment. It was almost better than an orgasm.

The Occlumency scenes are so interesting but also so painful because you can see so clearly from the outside the tragedy unfolding. You can see how these characters talk past each other and don't understand each other at all. And you can see WHY. But you can also imagine them actually reaching some understanding. They come close in a way, but just miss it. And it hurts.
Like here. Snape actually does acknowledge Harry's progress and compliment him (even if grudgingly). But Harry doesn't hear it because of all his past experiences with Snape and all the enmity that exists between them and because as far as Harry knows Snape is one of the people - like the Dursleys - who mistreat him for no reason and enjoy tormenting him for the crime of existing. Thus he's predisposed to take anything Snape says as an attack and responds angrily.
This type of hostility of course confirms Snape's own biases and shows him that Harry is as unreasonable, self centered, unwilling to accept any correction or help, and disrespectful as he wants to believe any child of James's would be. And so Snape in his turn responds with hostility. And the cycle continues in this way as their relationship deteriorates still further over the course of the lessons.
They both fundamentally do not understand the other and are also unable to put aside their feelings of dislike. Even when Snape tries to motivate Harry he does it poorly, in a way that is not well received, because he does not understand (or at least cannot acknowledge) what Harry actually needs to motivate him or what kind of a person he is. Harry for his part sees Snape as just one more enemy who has taken an unfair dislike to him and is using his power to make him miserable - the kind of person who dominated his whole life before Hogwarts.
And I think part of this can be traced back to the fact that no one has ever told Harry differently. No one has ever told him anything about why Snape really dislikes James. And it's not mere ignorance. Since book 1 he has received information that actively distorts and obscures the truth.

Did I just seriously just see a thread dreaming up that Severus’s notes in his school textbook were things he overheard and copied from James??? And that Severus was copying him to try and impress Lily??????? Marauders fans will really pull things out of their ass rather than admit that Severus was brilliant on his own and a thousand times better than James. I swear, 99.99% of the Marauders fandom is just crap they invented.

“A Phantom Valentine”
One of my favorite holidays was Valentine’s Day and my very first phantoon was a Valentine’s Day gift to my friends on a San Francisco Phantom message board (anybody out there remember message boards?). Rendered in ink and painted *by mouse* in Photoshop.
I got myself a Wacom tablet shortly thereafter.
