the worst part of living with the titans had to be monitor duty. rose understood this was an important job -- with how often invasions and crises happened -- but it was also so incredibly mind-numbingly dull. absolutely nothing happened ten out of nine times, and they all fell asleep at one point or another, but no one said anything about it, ever. the worst kept secret in the tower, followed by the alcohol cabinet the minors totally did not sneaked into when the elder titans weren’t looking.

unfortunately for rose the cup of coffee she had earlier would prevent her from falling asleep anytime soon, and left with tons of leftover energy. she bounced her bouncy ball against the wall and caught it once more before spinning her chair to regard raven, the smallest hint of mischief making her eye crinkle. “you think they noticed if we changed the channels ?”

the loud squeak of her sneakers rang through the hallway as she skidded to a stop by tim’s door. “hey, you’re not busy.” it wasn’t a question. she came in with no invitation at all, the smile on her lips growing into a grin that was all playfulness and determination. “you and me, let’s spar. right now.” disregarding whatever it was he was actually doing, she tugged at his wrist hard enough for it to be instant, but not hurt. “come on, i won’t take no for an answer.”

although rose’s crimefighting career wasn’t as long an prolific as some of the other titans -- with her trying out the ‘normal’ thing for a few years, and then being brainwashed into doing slade’s biding -- she had seen her fair share of villains by now, super and otherwise. she’d never run into catwoman, though. burglars and thieves weren’t much of her territory, but this one was notorious enough to garner rose’s attention through out the the years. 

what struck her as truly odd was the fact that the woman clad in black leather was now hanging out in san francisco; usually she stuck to gotham and the east coast, didn’t she ? maybe rose should have put ‘stopping a catwoman heist’ in her bucket list.

     Being watched, an easy thing to detect when you were experienced enough, and by now she certainly felt she qualified. Not enough time to turn and gather any information on who… yet. But the killing intent wasn’t quite there, there was a distinct feeling separating playful curiosity from targeted assault.

     She allowed them to tail her for a time, before vanishing from view herself. Let them get confused, think about where she may have gone, and then drop down behind them and loom like a shadow. By now she could recognize the child of Deathstroke, a friend of Tim’s. “You’re in my city.”

one moment she was there, the next she was gone. only to reappear behind her as ominously as the bat himself. rose contained her reaction to a slight wince a quiet gasp. usually she hated it when dick or tim or batman sneaked behind her, but this once it was... well, not a welcomed, but certainly not the worst surprise of her life. 

she couldn’t help the small smirk that colored her lips as she turned, though she id her best to keep her amusement to part of her face that was actually covered by the mask. “oh, silly me, must have missed your name on the billboard. if you even have a name, that is.”

i will never be over the fact that no matter how cold and aggressive and detached rose can come off, she’s still nicest, sweetest when it comes to kids.

gotham wasn’t rose’s scene, not on the slightest. titans tower had enough angst to last a lifetime, and frankly the whole city smelled like shit. but she still liked to come around every once in a while, check on her favorite bats -- since they rarely came over to san francisco nowadays.

this one, however, was a new bat. the suit looked like cassandra’s, but she didn��t move like her at all. rose moved behind her silent as a shadow, but she knew better. if batman had done a proper job at training her -- which she knew he did -- the little bat had probably spotted her a few blocks ago. still, she waited for the other to make the first move.
