And remember kids, the next time someone tells you "the government wouldn't do that!" – they're gaslighting you. Bark at them. Bare your teeth and let them know that you know what you saw and what you heard. Don't move an inch from the standpoint you have, don't let anybody talk you out of the picture you've made yourself. It's not "oh yes they would", anymore. It's "they do and they will continue to do so." Be attentive. You know what's happening. Be loud about it.

as soon as i saw the tiktok notification “thanks to president trump for yadayadayada” I immediately went “wow, that was the most obvious manipulation I’ve ever seen in my life, we just got played” and I’m not sure how anyone came to any other conclusion

“Terrible things are happening outside. Poor helpless people are being dragged out of their homes. Families are torn apart. Men, women, and children are separated. Children come home from school to find that their parents have disappeared.”

Some not so hot takes:
Tariffs = Higher prices
Mass deportations = broken communities
Gay and trans rights = human rights
Doing the nazi salute on live tv = being a nazi
How can anyone disagree with this stuff dude

MAGA thinks Nazis are good people and want every Confederate image/statue restored.
You can't take anything they say seriously.

On Doing Nothing
One of the great big problems with 5e that I have is that, on your turn, there is a set percentage chance that you don't do anything. No half damage, no effects, nothing. You're within 5 ft. of an enemy, you swing your big sword, you miss-- end turn. Wait another ten minutes. Fuck you. Die.
5e has a built-in mechanic to prevent you from playing the game. Amazing.
It's a very old complaint, I realize. And yes, I realize that some people do like the effect of their big sword clinking off of the chitinous hide of the Tooth Dragon buuuuuuut I don't. I like to feel like I'm making progress on defeating a large evil. Now, most of my grievances with this are because I play with some of the world's most unlucky players. They do not roll low, they roll bad. The past six months have been filled with the most hellish streak of 4s I have ever seen in my life, which, honestly, may be a sign that I haven't been making them roll enough checks, but I digress.
The to-hit roll in most games doesn't do much of anything except slow the game down, I feel. To be fair, some people want that! Sometimes it feels good to feel like you're sparring with someone in a methodical dance like a dark souls boss, which sometimes does include misses, but you gotta have something else to do on your turn. Few ideas:
Regular normal weapons have additional effects that trigger even on a miss. From what I've heard, DnD ONE has done this, though I've yet to actually read the thing
The Reliable tag like from Lancer where the weapon deals a set amount of damage, even on a miss.
Remove the to-hit roll and just deal damage directly without need for rolling to hit, add damage reduction to signify armor. Already been done, I'm just regurgitating stuff.
Anyways, my point is, games that prevent you from playing them is one of my pet peeves. And also of course that there are games out there better suited to you and your players that you don't have to mod to hell and back to make them feel good to play.
