Apple White's necessary ignorance

Apple White is easily the most controversial character in EAH. Unless someone's talking about her overt lesbianism, she's liable to be a source of fierce debate between her haters and defenders

So I wanted to add my two cents

I appreciate Apple as a character because she adds an important nuance to the plot line. It's very easy to agree with the rebels and most other shows would probably just paint all the royals as bad. What Ever After High does with Apple is show her as a character who is very caring, but not very understanding

Apple loves all of her friends. Raven, Briar, and Ashlynn are all very important to her. She will go out of her way to help them if they need it, and while she wants Raven to follow her destiny, she hates the idea of tricking her into it and calls out the headmaster for it in Thronecoming

Apple wants what's best for them and her heart is in the right place, but her upbringing makes it hard to understand that what society says is best for everyone might not be best for everyone. Her moments of selfishness comes mostly not understanding how much she's asking Raven to sacrifice rather than actively wanting to hurt her

In fact, in Dragon Games, it's realizing just how badly her actions have hurt Raven directly that makes her change her view on destiny. Apple saw how miserable Raven was with her mother. Her care for Raven pushed her to finally understand how unfair their destiny was and let go of it

Another important aspect about her is that she forces Raven to defend her stance as a rebel. Again, it's really easy to side with the rebels in general, but in reality, it's hard to get people to accept change. Even if it's a positive one

While it's definitely better than her original destiny, Raven's choice did leave a lot of uncertainty about what happens next. There was a lot of tension after Legacy Day and it took time for everyone to reach a point where they were comfortable with the idea of their stories changing

Consistently debating with Apple, rationalizing her decision from different points of view, needing to resolve her doubts and stand by her beliefs. All of these things also helped Raven really consider her place as a rebel and affirm why she made the choice to begin with

Apple is important because she challenges Raven's beliefs not as a villain, but as a friend. Despite not understanding her, Apple genuinely cared about her, and because she cared about her, she gradually changed to the point where she finally accepted her point of view

Disagreements can be uncomfortable, difficult, and complicated, but when it counts, the person who needs to change will change for the sake of a friend

Stupid question but assuming basic citizenship documents exist what happens legally if say, cupid swapped from monster high to ever after high? Like canonically mh is based in a monsterized/human place where monsters are the minority version of America. In theory, this version of America has taxes, citizenship, and immigration documents. If cupid leaves to eah, will she eventually have a death certificate filled in her name because she's been missing for years? If she's made at least $20k of taxable income and she leaves before tax season what will the monster irs so? She doesn't have any legal family in mh and she isn't their who will they send taxes to? If astronova transfers to mh how will she get a job? She has no birth certificate and she isn't a legal citizen. They can't deport her because it'd be too much trouble than it's worth. She doesn't even have a social security number so I don't think she can.
