Ty Lee giggles as Mai slides back into bed, immediately latching onto her arm. She takes a slice of pizza almost greedily, but before she eats it, she pauses. Turns to Mai. Leans forward to place a soft kiss on her lips.
Mai’s eyebrows raise in surprise. “Wow. Me over the pizza?”
“Always,” Ty Lee nods seriously, her heart jumping when Mai drops her a kiss back.

stop the world (please)
written for days three & five of @maileeweek2022: hair, cuddling
“You’re leaving?”
Ty Lee nodded, clenching and unclenching her fists in her lap. “Yeah. Tomorrow morning.”
Mai stared at her, gaze unwaveringly blank. “Why…” she paused. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
There it was—the question Ty Lee didn’t have an answer to. What was she supposed to say? It was a last minute decision (half-truth)? That she was too scared to tell the only person in her life that actually cared about her that she was joining the circus? She was a coward through and through.
“I’m sorry,” she said eventually.
[or, ty lee leaves for the circus tomorrow morning and has one night left with mai]

For the next two months, Ty Lee fills the sketchbook with little things that remind her of Mai. She draws her sharpened knives, her glossy hair, her slender hands and delicate fingers. And of course, she fills in pages and pages with just her eyes.
Because as emotionless as Mai seems, her eyes always tell a different story.

hyacinths that come back every year
written for @maileeweek2022, day seven: ember island or free day
Mai should tell her to stay with the Kyoshi Warriors, to stay somewhere safe, to not leave at all, to talk to her parents, to help her plan anything she needs, to take her to someone, to tell her that running away is not the solution, it never has been. She should do any number of those things.
Instead she says, “When do we leave?”
(ty lee runs away and mai follows)

“you must love him a great deal,” ty lee whispers and it echoes in the haunting empty of their shared cell.
“what do you mean?”
“you’re afraid of azula, yet you betrayed her so he could escape,” ty lee says, not whispering but still very quiet and plain. not at all like her usual tone. “so you must love him a great deal.”

Summary:
Mai stared at her, unable to turn away even with the realization of what she was doing, what she was thinking.
Ty Lee’s brush stilled on her lip, and Mai watched helplessly as a pair of grey eyes inched to the side to look right at her. By now, Mai had twisted her head to the side, brush forgotten on the vanity, staring openly. She had been hypnotized. And now that she’d been caught, she just kept on staring, slack jawed.
~~~
Mai and Ty Lee put on their war paint to go undercover as Kyoshi Warriors.
“what has camp half-blood ever done for me?” clarisse scoffs as silena watches tiredly. her blue eyes look grey, dull, so dull, but clarisse doesn’t notice. her eyes are closed.
she doesn’t notice when her armour disappears and blue eyes are tucked into the helmet. “what has camp half-blood ever done for me?” she murmurs, and she doesn’t notice that her cabin has gone missing, and she is alone.
the bonfire flickers down but there are no apollo kids singing, there’s no hand in her own and those sky blue eye staring at her, drawing her in before pushing her away again. the moon and the tide, that is what they were. i’m the tide, she whispers to silena once. a child of ares, ruining everything. the ocean, destroying everything in it’s path. quite fitting, don’t you think?
she doesn’t answer. the scythe on her arm burns into her skin. you are the moon, silena finally says and clarisse doesn’t believe her and the lies wrap around her like barbed wire. serene, honest, my only muse. my only weakness.
the rest of her cabin is missing and she notices it, but she’s too late, far too late and it feels like the fates are tugging at her feet and making her trip everywhere, slowing her down, faltering, falling. she gets there in time to see sea green eyes widen in horror and realisation, blonde hair ducking under monsters and racing towards something and then—
everything around her fades and all she sees is blue eyes and dark hair, glowing with fear, bravery, stupidity, and a century old pain that trails back to the trojan war and it’s patroclus dying all over again, it’s aphrodite falling for ares and clarisse knows that the fates are cruel, but did they really have to hurt her this way?
“what has camp half-blood done for me?” clarisse screams in anguish as she cradles silena’s head and weeps, as she charges at the drakon and red covers her like blood, like revenge, like the love she’s felt and the love she’s lost. “it’s given me everything, and i’ve been a fool to not notice.” and the drakon falls, a sickening thud that echoes through the street.
their souls do not meet for the longest time, the moon and the tide reaching for each other, so close but a bit too far. clarisse waits for the day she closes her eyes and doesn’t open them. she hopes it comes soon.
Hello, may i request a hurt/comfort au with piper x reyna?
tw / homophobia mentions
“i’ve missed you” pipeyna modern au :
“Piper!” a girl cried out. She sounded distressed and broken, tears thick in her throat.
Piper’s head snapped up from where she sat. The sight before her was nearly enough to break her into a million pieces. Her childhood friend, Reyna, stood yards away from her. Her brown skin shimmering in the sunlight, thick black hair braided down her back. She was taller, broad shoulders, and muscular. Piper stood, her feet moving her forward. She was in complete disbelief.... she hadn’t seen Reyna since ...
Piper was running now, at full speed towards Reyna. They embraced, Reyna being strong enough to lift Piper up and spin her around. She didn’t know when, but she started crying, holding the shorter girl’s waist.
“Look at you,” Piper sniffled, pulling back. She grabbed Reyna’s cheeks in her hands, “You’re so..” she shook her head, at a loss for words, “You’re so gorgeous, Rey.”
“God, I’ve missed you,” Reyna shook her head, staring at the girl before her. Piper had grown a bit too, but not as tall as Reyna. Her almond shaped eyes were kaleidoscopic, shifting to shades of brown and hazel and blue. Her hair was to her shoulders, choppy and brown with braids pulling back the front pieces. Reyna instinctively pushed her finger tips through the nape of Piper’s neck, watching as the girl leaned into her touch.
“I didn’t think I’d hear from you ever again,” Piper whispered, her hands moving down to Reyna’s shoulder. “I held out hope for so long but after what happened... i just didn’t think it was a possibility.”
“Me either,” Reyna shook her head, “After everything. My dad... I never thought I’d escape.”
“Let’s sit, talk, catch up. Or whatever you need. I just want you to be happy,” she replied, rubbing her thumbs gently against the other’s collarbones.
“I am. I’m here with you,” she told her earnestly, a sad smile placed onto her lips. They both knew that with the two of them reuniting came with the dark past that haunted the both of them. Not that it had ever disappeared, but it was brought into the forefront of their minds.
Years ago, they were neighbors. They grew up together. They went to school together. They were best friends, inseparable. Attached at the hip. At the age of 14, Piper realized something she didn’t necessarily want to. She liked Reyna. She wanted to be with her. She was scared. Petrified. And did what came naturally to her, avoided her best friend.
“Hey,” Reyna confronted her one day, “You’ve been avoiding me. Why?”
Piper was taken aback. She blinked, “I’m not.”
“You are. Pipes, i thought we were best friends. If you don’t want to be my friend anymore then just say so. Don’t just ignore me and pretend like you’re not.” Reyna said furiously, her eyebrows furrowing above her head.
Piper stared back at her, unable to form any words, which seemed to be an answer for Reyna.
“Fine. I guess we’re not friends anymore.” Reyna stormed off, leaving Piper at her locker in shock and disbelief. Had this really just happened? Had this all backfired all at once? The rest of the school day felt like a nightmare, this pit of sadness grew and grew until she couldn’t take it. Piper had stormed to Reyna’s house after school, finding the girl in her backyard on her childhood swing set.
“What are you doing here?” Reyna raised an eyebrow.
Piper sat on the empty swing next to her, “I like you. That’s why i’ve been avoiding you. And I was scared to say it but you already told me we aren’t friends anymore so, I just figured why not.”
Reyna looked taken back, her face contorted and Piper took it as a bad sign. “You’re disgusted, aren’t you?” She stood, ready to leave.
“No,” Reyna answered immediately. She grabbed Piper’s arm, stopping her from leaving. “Not at all. I... I’ve been feeling the same way. I think. It’s just so scary, you know? Being in love with your best friend”
Piper looked at Reyna, instinctively leaning toward. They shared a kiss. It was a brief peck, chaste but sweet. And that’s where it all went wrong. Reyna’s father had been watching from the window and as soon as he saw his daughter kissing a girl, he stormed out. He grabbed her by the hair, ignoring her screams and yelling his own profanities at her. It was vile. Piper ran, immediately. The next day, Reyna was gone. Her house was up for sale. And she never heard from her again.
Four years passed, and there they were, reunited again. The darkness hadn’t left, it was apart of the both of them. Piper didn’t ask what Reyna had been through in the last four years, but there was an eternity ahead of them for Reyna to talk about it when she was comfortable. For now, she was content, laying on a park bench with her head in Reyna’s lap, recounting the good and best things that happened.
