WHEN YOUR PAIR IS TOO RARE FOR AO3

So, we have run into a minor technical hiccup!! The AO3 prompt meme interface does not, in its default settings, allow for relationship tags that are too uncommon to be tracked by AO3. This is obviously a problem for a rare pair fest.

There is a low-tech solution: just leave the relationship blank in the prompt form, and specify in the description what relationship you wnat.

HOWEVER, there is another solution, which we have implemented, because we want you to be able to tag your rare pairs in the relationship box if you so desire! If you try to prompt a ship and get the "this is not canonical, contact the mods" response, you can either nominate the tag in the tag set on ao3 (and ro or jo will accept it from there) or contact us on this blog or through our individual blogs ( @princesscharlesofmonaco and @oscarpiastriwdc ) with the ship you want to be able to tag and we can add the it to the set ourselves.

Can mod see a fulfilled prompt even before its revealed? One of my piece is half done so i might be able to fulfill earlier.

Hi! This is my first time looking to participate in an ao3 event like this and I noticed on the profile page for the fest, there's a 'sign up' button and a 'join' button. Do you know what these are and/or which (if any) I should press if looking to participate? I don't want to press the wrong thing haha

Not to beat a dead horse but how is there no pure George/Nico already out there? Their career and thematic parallels go crazy. Just looking at the 2 of them on paper, I’d think they have at least 200 fics not just 2 lol

Hello. I love this idea and I have already picked a prompt. I have a question though as I have never posted to A03 - I just read on there. I am feeling very silly but how do I submit them?

I am loving the pairs!

hi anon <33 not silly at all! I'm so so excited you want to share your first fic with us!!

When you hit the "claim" button on a prompt, it will show up a couple of places: (1) there will be a button on the fest page menu, below "prompts" that says "my claims"; (2) on the menu to the left on the dashboard of your ao3 account there will be a button that says "Claims (1)" third from the bottom.

Clicking either of these places will show you the prompt you claimed, and there will be a button that says "fulfill claim" that you can use to submit a fic fulfilling that prompt to the fest!

what's the rare pair fest approach to non-driver but f1-adjacent pairings? like rebecca and carmen aren't drivers but they are a rare pair in the f1 rpf sphere? same question also applies to team principals. could we write a fred/toto fic?

Yes!! Both of those are acceptable rare pairs!! The rule of thumb is “within the ambit of the paddock” - we are pro Fred/Toto and pro wag yuri in this household!!!!

in my mind lewis hamilton x miles chamley watson is not rare because they are together frequently? but when i go on ao3 there are only 21 fics under their tag.

will the magic 8 ball and/or ro and jo please weigh in on if they count because i would love to write them since i love both sports but also want to stick to the spirit of the fest
