Khlood and Khaled, both professionals—a physiotherapist and a paramedic—are now navigating the unimaginable: raising their newborn son and toddler in a war zone where basic necessities are nearly unattainable. Inflation has made food and medical care almost impossible to afford, leaving them reliant on the kindness of strangers to provide their children with even the bare minimum.

Mahmoud and his family have gone through a lot- their home was destroyed, they’ve survived the Al-Shifa massacre, they’ve gone through starvation, and Mahmoud himself has struggled to pay tution fees to sit for his exams remotely, amongst all of this.

Because this is the reality Mahmoud's family (@mahmoudfamily7) had to face recently. Mahmoud's 17 family members were staying in his sister's house when they got a call telling them they had 3 minutes to evacuate the house! 3 minutes! They, including the 10 children and the 3 infants, ran out of the house and onto the streets in the middle of the night. 3 minutes later, the Israeli planes dropped on to the house, destroying everything inside.

Imagine having only 3 minutes to evacuate your house. Then 3 minutes later, standing in the middle of the street, shivering in the cold as you did not have the time to put on your winter coats, watching as your house and everything you have is completely destroyed. No time to bring your clothes and coats to shield yourself from the winter cold and the rain, no time to save your treasured possessions, no time to bring any food with you. And food, medicine and other basic necessities are so very expensive in Gaza right now! Mahmoud's family include 10 children, 3 infants, and Mahmoud's sister is still healing from the difficult birth! How are they suppose to survive??

Imagine running out of your house right now, bringing nothing but the clothes you have on your back. The moment you step out your house is bombed. You are on the street wearing only your pajamas. You do not have money to buy food or clothes or medicine. Can you survive like that? If you can't, then how can 10 children do it? Please help them!

19/11/2024 Save my child, Mira, please

My beautiful baby Mira was suffering from a high temperature two weeks ago, so I took her to the doctor at Al Awda Hospital in Nuseirat Camp, which is the only hospital covering the central region. The doctor told me: There is nothing wrong with your child without examination or tests.

He literally told me your child is spoiled

When I got out of the hospital, I told my wife that our baby girl was spoiled, just like the doctor said

Every time my child, Mira, complains of pain, I tell her there is nothing you need, and when her temperature rises, I give her a fever reducer and she just sleeps.

This morning, my wife was surprised while she was changing clothes for Mira that there was a large tumor under her armpit

My wife started screaming and crying at me. I took Mira to the hospital immediately and we were referred to a pediatric surgeon. She was examined and a television imaging was done. It was found that my child suffers from three masses in the lymph nodes, one of which is very large.

The doctor told me that she needed a gland removal operation As soon as possible within a week due to the rapid growth of the tumor

My child, Mira, is one of the most active and energetic children today. She is sick and cannot play. She's tired. I don't like to see her in this state.

Since we received the news, my wife and I have been crying. We do not know how to react. What will happen to us next in this damned war?

There are no hospitals, no electricity, no treatment, and not even anesthesia for surgical operations

I don't know how to act

My child, Mira, needs an operation and quick treatment

My mother, Ashwaq is 43 years old, my brother Hamza is 22 years old, my brother Bader is 16, my little sister Nada is 12, and myself. We've endured 376 days of continuous bombardment during this devastating war. Since its onset, we've faced a relentless cascade of losses. Our lives have been emptied, and the dreams we once pursued now seem like unattainable fantasies.

We were displaced from our home, and tragically, we lost our new home as well—a place we had worked tirelessly to create, hoping it would become a sanctuary where we could build beautiful memories.

My professional life has been utterly decimated. For three years, I thrived as a user interface designer on freelance platforms.

However, since the onset of this war, my ability to work has been obliterated. The occupation's relentless bombing campaigns have ravaged internet infrastructure, rendering it barely functional. Now, even basic online tasks are nearly impossible. Consequently, I'm left without any financial means to sustain myself.

We were displaced from our home due to occupation forces and found refuge with relatives. Our lives were repeatedly threatened by bombings, escaping death twice during tank attacks and enduring a four-day siege under intense bombardment.

Despite immense hardships, my family and I stayed in Gaza, facing constant bombings and severe shortages. After five months of siege, we're on the brink of famine, lacking basic necessities. We've decided to leave for safety, but high coordination costs are a barrier.
