Went to my first HEMA tournament this weekend.
I fenced smallsword, and rapier and dagger. Placed 10th and 8th respectively which feels great!
I'm planning on going to another tournament in May now too.

Rapier, German Lands/Spain, circa 1600-1620 year of manufacture.
The total length is 1025 mm, the blade length is 864 mm, the weight is 933 grams. A very interesting, unusual blade, the whole strong part of which is essentially a ricasso. This part of the blade is equipped with a whole system of valleys on each side - a central short wide one, turning into two short narrow ones and two side narrow long ones. In a wide proportion, the signature of the master who made the BERNS / IOHANNES blade is visible.
The following inscriptions are made in the narrow valleys on both sides: VIVA EL REY PHILIPP III / SOLI DEO GLORIA / REY DE ESPANNA Y PURTUGUAL.

The artist Paweł Ponichtera seems to have inexplicably dedicated a massive amount of time and effort to hyper-detailed and hyper-accurate illustrations of chinchillas engaged in historical fencing, many with clear and specific reference to particular historical treatises. So, I give you:
