instead of the shitty live action cash grabs disney SHOULD have just re-animated all those absolutely wild direct-to-video sequels they did back at the turn of the century. 

like am i the only one who remembers when Aladdin’s dad was the head of a mafia and gate crashed his own son’s wedding?  

or the time Pocahontas went to england and had to deal with the insanity of wealthy racist colonialists (and with 17th century western underwear, and incited a wee bit of rebellion & a prison escape whilst there)

and that time Ariel had a daughter who inherited her mother’s terrible negotiation skills

or how we got a Lion King II with the return of our old favorite characters plus some very good all-new ones

or the movie equivalents of the tried-and-true fanfic trope of characters just plain having flashbacks about fun stuff that wasn’t in the original canon

also the ugly step sister had a redemption arc, Timon and Pumbaa and Buzz Lightyear and Kronk got their own movies, everyone went back to Atlantis, we met Stitch’s siblings, Jafar returned the dirty old fuck, and Quasimodo fell in love

these movies were FUN and made on tight budgets and are PERFECT for re-adapting, and instead we got the Cats version of the lion king, disney what the FUCK
