seanwhitehall:
Sean knew that this was a disaster, but he couldn’t hide the smirk on his face, hunting down the responsible for this confusion if felt great to be able to let himself have some real fun and not have to travel away for that. Sure, he would have to capture a few alive, however he was looking forward to interrogating them later, he certainly knew many ways to make them talk. Making his way to the docks, Sean heard some cry in pain, he wasn’t exactly in the rescue team, but knowing it would take a while for someone else to appear, he decided to do the right thing and make his way toward the noise. Seeing the woman, Sean wasn’t exactly good with words or calming someone down. “Hey there…” He said, there was no way for him to take her out that wouldn’t be painful, he moved closer to her leg and placed his hand in the object. “What’s that?” he asked pointing at the beach, for her to look at the other way and not tense her body when he pulled pipe from her leg.
.
Rana was on edge, completely on the defense. Her mind was fading, the pain was overtaking her and she was mentally falling back into the pits. Her survival instinct was kicking back in. the urge to kill anyone who got too close to make sure she would stay safe and the one to stay alive. The pain was intense though, she couldn’t pull her leg through so there was no end to it. Sweat poured down her face as her features shifted, becoming animalistic as her lioness came out in the elongated fangs, the claws sprouting from her fingers and more. As the man came closer, his vampire scent hit her and she snarled, baring her teeth and wanting to spring at him if she hadn’t been pinned down. “Stay back!” She snarled, her words turning into an animalistic cry of pain. As he knelt down she swiped out, aiming for his arm to get him to release the pipe and to release her leg. Her mind was warped, only knowing the killing of the pits and he was only a threat to her in this state.

leda-wells:
It wasn’t unusual for Leda to find herself near the docks in the later part of the evenings. She cared nothing for the festivities on the island, so she figured she would make her way to there to look around or simply go for a swim. She wasn’t far from the docks when she heard the explosion. As a royal guard her first thought when to Priya, wanting- needing to find her, but when she heard the agonized cries of the other, she found herself having a bit more compassion for the residents of the island. Leda cautiously moved closer to the other, quickly surveying their surroundings to ensure there wasn’t anyone nearby, although she soon heard commotion farther down on the beach. They needed to get out of there… and soon. But as she came closer, she saw the pole impaling the other’s leg. This wouldn’t be easy and considering the amount of noise the other was already making, it wouldn’t be quiet either. The two were vulnerable like this, so she would have to work fast. “I’m here to help, alright?” She slowly knelt near the other’s leg, quickly considering her options. “I can heal you but I’m going to have to get this out first.” She nodded towards the pole as she wrapped her hand around it, readying herself to yank it out.
.
Rana was struggling to stay in the present, but her memories of pain and her instinct were trying to drag her back to the pits, the only place she knew and the place where all her pain came from. She’d been injured so much there, fighting for life and now she was struggling once more to fight. The metal rod was stuck deep in her flesh and she screamed out, the noise much more like an animal than anything human. As soon as the scent and the voice of another hit her, Rana was on the defense. Mentally she was slipping back to the pits and the appearance of another would only prove to be a threat to her. She did not listen to their promises of helping her. She only saw them as another person to hurt her. Rana snarled, swiping her hands out at them, the elongated claws she shifted showing that she meant to harm. Her teeth elongated, the fangs closer to her lioness side now showing. “Don’t touch me!” She snarled, shaking in pain and anger. Under her defensive act there was the primal fear of the pain becoming worse. She’d sustained more injuries in the pits, but with her mobility decreased and her stuck, she felt cornered and untrusting of all. “Leave me!” The growl was followed by a cry of pain.

The attack had come suddenly. Rana, who’s whole life had been nothing but a game of survival against attacks, felt completely unprepared. The explosions, the fire, the chaos. It all rattled every single bone in the shifter’s body. She had been unprepared for the pain and chaos that was to come, and with her back against the wall, she felt truly like the trapped animal she was. Rana felt a jolt of pain following the waves of explosion. One moment she had been standing by the water and watched the fireworks from afar, away from the crowds that still made her so nervous and on edge. Her body had been thrown back, air-born as she was slammed into some rocks and her head hit one with a sickening thud. But it was the pain in her leg that truly made her yowl out like the animal she was. The lioness lifted her head, feeling the wet and sticky trail of blood down the back of her head. Lifting her head, she caught sight of the pole impaling her leg. Rocks, wood, concrete and other heavy materials from the docks surrounded her, debris of the explosion. But as she tried to move her leg to pull the pipe out, she realized to her horror that she couldn’t. Rana was stuck. The cry that was torn from her lips was the animalistic cry of overwhelming pain. For someone who knew only pain in the pits, she found herself overwhelmed and defeated by this sheer pain. She was stuck.

ezra-emrys:
The city was a symphony of sights and smells, and Ezra moved through it like a maestro, his fingers dancing over the smooth stone of the buildings as he passed. He could feel the thrum of magic in the air, taste the smoky tang of bakery ovens burning in the distance, and hear the way the wind whispered through the streets. He knew this city like the back of his own hand, and he navigated it with ease, his feet moving sure-footedly over the uneven sidewalks.
As he made his way towards the market, Ezra could feel the eyes of the people on him, curious glances at a fairly new witch. Suddenly, he felt a presence behind him, and he tensed, his hand tightening into a fist. The familiar warmth of his magic heated his palm.
The sky rumbled overhead, and Ezra quickened his pace, not wanting to be caught in the rain. He could feel the first drops of water hitting his skin, beading on his eyelashes and running down his cheeks like tears. He turned a corner and collided with someone, stumbling backward and reaching out to steady himself.
“I’m sorry,” he said, his voice rough. “I didn’t see you there.”
.
Rana should have seen them coming. She was truly growing sloppy if she couldn’t sense the body barreling around the corner. She didn’t hear the footsteps and truly she was getting sloppy. Still, that did not dull her quick reaction into combat mode. Years of being in the pits kicked in and Rana lunged forward with a growl.
She had him pinned to the wall behind him, her hands skillfully pinning his hands as the scent of magic lingered around him. Rana was becoming animalistic, snarling and baring her elongating fangs. She stared down her prey, about to go for the jugular when someone else turned around the corner, let out a small scream at the sight before them and quickly left.
The scream was enough to pull her from her fighting instincts and glowing eyes took in the pinned man and she released him quickly with a shove and stepped back. “Watch yourself.” Rana snarled, still feeling defensive and the adrenaline pumped through her. This was just another reminder that she couldn’t fit into normal society. She’d messed up again.

benji-howe:
With a cautious look, the witch was moving as soon as he realized the cameras had swung by both him, and the path he intended to take. “C’mon.” He hummed, waving her quickly along.
Benji led the way to the near by balcony, one of his favorite spots of reprieve for the night. It was calm- quiet out here. It was greatly appreciated. He found himself settling against the edge of the balcony- turning now to look back at her. “For what it’s worth- you do look regal tonight. “
.
The cameras had been a bad idea and had she known they were going to be there, she probably would not have come, even telling Aiyla no. This was being broadcast to the world and Rana was terrified of Edmund finding out where she was or if he’d tried to get her back. Hiding behind Benji only proved how scared she was, and proved that she was starting to trust him.
With one last glance towards the sisters, she followed him quickly outside and breathed in relief once the doors were closed behind them. For a moment, she closed her eyes and breathed in the fresh air of the night. His words snapped her eyes open and Rana looked down at her dress before looking back at him. “I picked it out with Aiyla and Kadri.” Rana admitted but shifted slightly, feeling a sensation she was unsure what to name. “Regal?” She asked, eyes honestly searching his.

“Some fun, yes.” With a shrug, Benji sipped his drink, “Though it is a lot. The camera’s add an added tenseness that I don’t appreciate.” It was her movement though, that clued him into enough.
With a pause and a look out into the crowd, Benji cleared his throat. “I think the sisters would be safe for a few moments if you wanted to take a break from hiding.” He hummed softly- the witch himself not bothering to move just yet. He’d let her hide as she needed to. With a gentle outstretched hand, his smile was soft. “No cameras, much less noise… I could show you.”
.
Even without the cameras, Rana knew they would still expect her to be on her best behavior. Elijah was not her alpha, she still denied him, but knew that he was held accountable for her. Though, the cameras only terrified her for she was afraid of what would happen if Edmund caught sight of her on one of the cameras. Would he come after her? “I don’t like the cameras.” Rana muttered, hiding behind his taller frame, admitting her fear to him.
It had taken her so long for her to trust that Benji wasn’t going to take her back to Edmund, which was only clearly displayed when she hid behind him. As he mentioned the sisters, Rana’s gaze found them. All night, no matter what she was doing, she was tracking them and keeping them in her sights always. She debated his offer, not wanting to leave Kadri and Aiyla alone, but they seemed safe at the moment. Even happy since she saw a smile on Aiyla’s lips. She was tempted by the promise of now cameras. Rana needed a break from the constant fear. Bitting her bottom lip, Rana stared at his outstretched hand and finally nodded, though she didn’t take it. “Alright. No cameras.” She whispered, coming out from behind him.

benji-howe:
Maybe it was obvious, the move it took to peer around the kind stranger that started chatting him up. Benji seemed to attract people to talk to- not that he minded. But it was the lioness that caught his attention entirely. Rana looked stunning- per usual- but especially so tonight. He excused himself, walking past the stranger without much time for the other to say goodbye.
The witch fell into the small space beside the other with a hum, “I must say, you look gorgeous tonight.” Benji spoke, “Are you having fun?”
@rana-bolat
.
Rana knew she had to be on her best behavior tonight. She’d been warned about the cameras, about the eyes of the world being on the island to celebrate it’s one year of peace between species. Which still felt odd to Rana. But she knew with the eyes on them, they could not afford to have an unsteady and dangerous shifter. So, she had to behave. Not to mention she was terrified of the cameras in case Edmund was watching.
She felt his presence before he spoke, recognizing his growing familiar scent. The compliment didn’t effect her, it felt too similar to things others had said tonight, things others had said in her past. Rana didn’t want to be gorgeous, she wanted to be strong for being here. “Aiyla and Kadri are, and that’s all that matters to me.” She spoke to Benji, turning to look at him. “Are you having fun with all of this?” Another camera caught her eye coming this way and she shifted to move behind Benji.

Aiyla wasn’t sure why she was here, or why she wanted to come in the first place. She supposed it was something childlike within her, vaguely remembering fairytales– wanting to dress up like a princess, go to a ball. But now that she was here all she wanted to do was go home, behind the safety of her locked door.
But she was safe here too. She just had to keep reminding herself of that. And at least it helped to have people here she trusted- so when she spotted Rana–looking unbelievable in the dress she’d chosen, Aiyla immediately went over to her, waiting until she caught the woman’s eyes to get her attention to reach for her hand, gripping a bit tight. “How do you..handle. Around all these people?”
@rana-bolat
.
Rana could have truthfully avoided the masquerade ball and been fine with that. She didn’t feel like attending a large event or dressing up since the only times she had ever done so in the past were to be shown off or to be a good little pet for someone. Still, Kadri and Aiyla had wanted to go, and they asked Rana to go. So, she’d agreed right away. Honestly, she’d do anything for them. They’d all go shopping together, Rana felt overwhelmed as she’d never gone shopping for herself or picked out the dresses in the end. But one red dress she tried on, the sisters insisted she’d get it, and so here she stood wearing the revealing red gown. Though, Rana felt comfortable, and did not feel exposed or revealing in the slightest.
Leaving Aiyla’s side only to go find them drinks, she returned with three champagne flutes in her hand and gave one to each. With a now free hand, she squeezed Aiyla’s hand back. The younger woman was nervous, Rana could recognize it and wished to help soothe her. “I growl at them.” Rana answered, and thought of how she’d done so with the waiter to get him to stop so she could take drinks off his tray. “That usually keeps others away.” Growling and snarling had worked earlier in the evening whenever someone tried to approach her. “But I will not lie to you, I am comfortable being around so many.” She only could put on a good mask... under the very real mask.
