Most of us can't help but live as though we've got two lives to live, one is the mockup, the other the finished version, and then there are all those versions in between. But there's only one, and before you know it, your heart is worn out, and, as for your body, there comes a point when no one looks at it, much less wants to come near it.

Mateo sighed, running a hand through his hair as he watched the tears well up in Cecilia’s eyes. He hated seeing her like this, hated that he was the cause of it. But he also hated how tangled everything had become, how confused and conflicted he felt. “It’s not that simple,” he began, his voice tinged with frustration, mostly directed at himself. He wasn’t used to feeling so unsure, so caught between his own emotions. “I thought I knew what I wanted, but... I’m not even sure I know now.” He shifted on his feet, feeling the weight of the moment pressing down on him. The last thing he wanted was to hurt Cecilia, but he could see that he already had. “It’s not about them or you. It’s about me not knowing what the hell I’m doing,” Mateo admitted, his tone almost bitter.

shaking her head, she attempted to blink the tears away. "you could have just said that," she mumbled. cecelia didn't like to be vulerable or weak in front of other people but she couldn't stop herself right now. "i mean, if they're who you wanted then why did you act like you liked me?"

Chris couldn’t help but smile as Levi leaned into him, their usual banter and teasing had been in full swing all night, but there was something different in Levi’s voice now, something that made Chris pause. Their friends may as well not have been there, for all the attention Chris was giving them. Chris turned his head slightly, catching Levi’s gaze as his hand slid up from their shoulder, fingertips gently tracing along the back of his neck, grounding them both in the moment. “Levi,” Chris said softly, his voice steady despite the emotions swirling in his chest. “You know I’m not going anywhere, right? I’ve got you.” The corners of his lips quirked into a small, reassuring smile, the kind that he knew would put Levi at ease. He could feel the warmth of Levi’s skin against his, the familiar weight of his presence. "You can fuck up as many times as you want, I’ll still be here," Chris continued, his tone teasing but laced with sincerity. "But you’ve gotta stop making me work so hard, huh? Give me a break every now and then." He chuckled lightly, but there was no mistaking the seriousness in his gaze.
It’s always easy for the two of them to get lost in one another. Surrounded by a group of their friends and the two of them are always in their own world. Their thighs pressed right up against each other, their hands brushing along each other’s bare skin. Levi’s always loved this side of them and it’s the one he gets to see the most when they’re out and drinking. Their arm around his shoulders as he leans up against them. They always welcome him back with open arms no matter how badly he’s fucked up. Which, frankly, is often. There’d just been a twenty minute roast session about Levi’s last hookup turned nightmare to prove it. Levi leans his head knowing only they can hear him. Mouth practically on their cheek. “Promise you won’t ever leave me.”

Mateo sat on the couch, his arms crossed tightly over his chest, the faint glow of the TV illuminating his tense features. He’d been waiting, the hours dragging by as he stared at the clock, counting down the minutes until Austin walked through the door. The sound of the key turning in the lock made his heart jump, but it wasn’t relief that flooded him—it was frustration. When Austin finally stepped inside, looking exhausted and worn down, Mateo felt a pang of sympathy. But it was quickly overshadowed by the simmering resentment that had been building up for days. Austin’s gentle comment hung in the air, and Mateo’s eyes narrowed slightly. "Yeah, well, seems like it’s the only time I get to see you these days," Mateo responded, his voice low but tinged with irritation. He didn’t move from his spot, his gaze fixed on Austin. The silence that followed was heavy, filled with all the unspoken words and frustrations that had been piling up.

knowing he had been spending way more time on a case then usual it was starting to catch up. long days at the office started to turn into nights where he slept on the couch there. days would go by where he'd barely swing by home and it was taking a toll on everything around him. when he finally came home near to midnight he was expecting to come home to the other sleeping only to see them up on the couch. "you're up late." he comments gently.

Hey everyone! I'm currently looking for some 1x1 RP partners on Discord. My schedule has been hectic with work and outings, but I'm still eager to write with others. I'd love to find someone to chat with on the side, plot together, gush over muses, or just talk about random things. I'm pretty laid-back, so if you ever lose muse for a thread or anything else we've got going on, no worries—I totally get it. If you're interested, give this a like and I'll reach out!

Mateo felt the familiar warmth spread through his chest as Kade's words sank in. The vulnerability in Kade's voice was clear, but Mateo couldn't resist adding a teasing edge to his response, just to keep things light. "You better be ready to get on those knees, then," Mateo teased with a smirk, his tone playful but laced with genuine affection. "I’ll always pick you, Kade. Just remember that next time you decide to be a pain in my ass." His arms tightened around Kade, pulling him even closer. The weight of their shared history, the ups and downs, all seemed to melt away in this moment. Mateo's fingers traced lazy patterns on Kade's back, a soothing motion that matched the tenderness in his voice. "I’m not going anywhere, and neither are you." Catching Kade's gaze, Mateo let his teasing tone soften. "You're all mine, huh? Good, because I'm not planning on letting you go ever again." The playful light in his eyes was now mixed with a deeper emotion, one that had been building up during their time apart. "So, what’s it going to be? Start with a kiss or…?"
Kade's attention seeking and problem causing hadn't done them any favors. When he would get wound up out in his world of glitz and glam and cause trouble he'd bring it back home to Mateo who didn't deserve Kade's asshole behavior. Sometimes he was too much and he knew that but he'd been working on it, trying to reel it all in. And it was only when everything was quiet for the first time and he was well and truly alone that he realized how much he missed Mateo. "Get on my knees for you any time," he teased right back because it was easier than cracking open his chest and laying it all bare. "Just pick me one more time," he spoke quietly. "And I promise I won't make you choose again." The way the other held him tighter had Kade clinging for dear life. He never wanted to let go, wanted to make up for all the times he could have been here and wasn't. "I'm following your lead, baby. We can make up for all the lost time any way you want to." Catching Mateo's gaze, Kade couldn't help but to smile. He was mad at himself for ever letting this go. "I'm all yours."

Mateo sighed, feeling a mix of frustration and tenderness as he watched Brandon struggle to find the right words. He could see the effort it took for him to apologize, but apologies without actions were just empty words. "I appreciate the apology, but I need more than words. It's not so much what do I want you to do. I want my energy matched." He rambled on a bit before a huff slipped past his lips. "I just want you to want me."
brandon's lips purse to the side, nodding slowly at mateo's response. "i'm sorry." it's all he can manage for the moment, averting his gaze to the floor. hasn't exactly been the best at showing his emotions, knowing his actions don't often match up with what he says. ". . . what do you want me to do?"

Chris's eyes narrowed slightly as he watched the smile tug at Molly's lips. She was good at this game, never one to falter under the weight of compliments. His grin widened as he observed the pink flush creeping up her cheeks, even though she tried to maintain her composure. He leaned back slightly, crossing his arms over his chest in a relaxed manner. "Oh, you know, do you?" he teased, his tone light but filled with an undercurrent of appreciation. "Well, then that just makes it all the more special, doesn't it?" When Molly tapped his leg with the tip of her foot, Chris couldn't help but chuckle. He glanced down at her leg, then back up to meet her eyes, raising an eyebrow. "So you don't wear this dress for just anyone, huh? I must be pretty special then."
a smile tugs at the corner of her lips and truly , if molly was another girl --- one with less of a falsified ego she would've played coy but instead she turns to him letting him continue on sulking in the compliments . pink flushes her cheeks and even so , she still doesn't let herself falter . crossing one leg over the other , molly raises her brows waiting for him to keep going knowing eventually she should interject . " and if i told you that i know ? what then ? " the brunette asks , tapping his leg lightly with the tip of her foot . " i don't wear this dress for just anyone , you know that . "

Mateo knew that dealing with the dynamic between him and Kade was no easy feat. It had always been a challenge, and Mateo was well aware that he wasn't the easiest person to deal with. His introverted nature, coupled with a mind that never seemed to stop racing, often made things more complicated than they needed to be. It was something he had promised to work on. Kade's soft laugh, rumbling from his chest, brought a genuine smile to Mateo's face. "I love to see you like that, actually," he retorted with a teasing glint in his eyes. "I will always pick you, Kade," Mateo promised, his voice filled with sincerity as his hands splayed out across Kade's back. He pressed his cheek against Kade's chest, savoring the warmth and the steady beat of his heart. The hug grew tighter, and Mateo's eyes shut, a contented hum escaping his lips at Kade's final comment. "No one amounts enough to you to take your place," Mateo whispered, his tone laced with affection. He pulled back slightly, just enough to meet Kade's gaze again. "You know, I’ve missed you more than you can imagine," he murmured, his fingers tracing patterns along Kade's spine. "And now that you're here... I plan on making up for all the lost time."
It felt wrong that it was this easy. He'd left fighting and to be able to just walk right back in? Something had changed here because he knew if he'd turned tail right after he left he'd have been walking into a different scenario altogether. Maybe it was just maturity - they'd been apart long enough to realize the whole thing had been stupid and the willingness to put it all aside overtook whatever stupid thing they'd argued about in the first place. "Figured you'd like to see me on my knees," he let out a soft laugh even though he was still more than willing to grovel if need be. "So you really want me back?" The way Mateo kept talking about being at each other's side and doing things with each other rather than against each other really told him he was in the right place, that coming back here hadn't been a mistake. He'd been about to agree that, yes, he was a pain in the ass, when Mateo kissed him and he found himself melting into it. Oh, he'd missed that. "I've no place I'd rather be," he admitted, arms curling tighter around the other to keep him close. "I figured you'd have moved on, found someone better..."

"It would be an honor to wake up and see you still here." Gabriel's soft chuckle and tired blue eyes looking up to meet his own brought a small smile to Chris's lips. The thought of waking up next to Gabriel, or coming home to him after a long day at the office, seemed like the perfect stress reliever. Chris appreciated the gentle brushing of Gabriel's fingers against his warm skin.
He brought his chin to rest on top of Gabriel's hair and pulled him into a tighter embrace, sighing at the comfort of having someone present with him. Sometimes, it wasn't too bad to long for simple affection. A chuckle slipped past Chris's lips at Gabriel's question. "Mhmm," he hummed. "I have everything you need, even an extra toothbrush and clothes. Mi casa es su casa." He drawled out his words, feeling himself getting more tired but also more content. The warmth of Gabriel's presence and the simple act of holding him close made Chris feel at peace, ready to drift off into sleep with a smile on his face.
Brows furrow in disbelief at the statement, but there's no immediate response. Gabriel hadn't anticipated that, yet the gentle kiss on the brow settles an overthinking mind. A soft chuckle airs while tired blue eyes look up to meet theirs. "Don't talk like that and spoil me, you might wake up with me still here if you keep it up."
Head placement remains, albeit tilted up to gaze at Chris with a similar appreciation for companionship. While it was unheard of to think he'd get the luxury of staying, as Chris put it 'as long as he'd like', there's a comfort in knowing he didn't have to get out of bed and put cold clothes on, then call for an uber. With warm fingers brushing through loose, short strands, where he held his lover, fingers were drawing idle circles and various shapes, content to caress until it was too tiring to do so. "Oh, you.. got any mouthwash? I didn't intend to stay the night so I don't have anything."

Chris smiled warmly at Gabriel's playful gesture, feeling the light pinch on his nose. He appreciated Gabriel's effort to make their time together comfortable. "That sounds good," he said softly, leaning into the gentle touch “and don't worry about the time; you can make yourself at home. I think we are way past that." As Gabriel shifted to lie back and drape himself over Chris, Chris felt a wave of tenderness wash over him.
He wrapped his arms around Gabriel, pulling him closer, and pressed a soft kiss to the top of his head. "Stay as long as you need," he whispered, feeling the weight of Gabriel's head against his chest. The moments like these were what made Chris think about how he was holding himself back from living a fulfilling life with the love he always wanted; though, he promised himself he would never feel like a fool again. He closed his eyes, savoring the closeness and the gentle sound of rain, content in the simple act of holding and being held. His fingers brushed through Gabriel’s hair, scratching at their scalp every once in a while. “Thanks for keeping me company.”
Chris nodded understandingly when Gabriel mentioned his anxiety and trouble sleeping. "No horror, got it," he agreed, feeling a warm sense of relief at Gabriel's openness. The touch on his shoulder and arm was comforting, a reminder that physical touch was not always so bad. "Bloomberg? Oh, you mean that show I was watching," Chris corrected with a chuckle. "It's actually called 'Billions,' not Bloomberg. I'm on season two, but got bored. Bloomberg is just a stock market or exchange channel. Also kind of boring."
He felt Gabriel's foot rubbing at the back of his calf muscle, a small gesture that sent a pleasant shiver up his spine. Chris's hand moved to gently find home and caress Gabriel's thigh, reciprocating the intimate touches. "But we don't have to watch that if you're not feeling it. Just put anything on, maybe I'll pass out soon or don't put anything on. I like quiet." He leaned in closer, cheek now resting on their exposed shoulder and breaths syncing up.

"I don't think you realize just how good you look," Chris murmured, his voice low enough for only the two of them to hear. His mind had been echoing all night with lustful desires for the other, though he had to maintain his cool in the presence of others. "Like, really good," he confirmed, his eyes roaming over their face, admiring every feature. Chris leaned in slightly, the proximity allowing him to take in every detail, every subtle expression. "It's been driving me crazy, you know," he added, a hint of a smile playing at the corners of his lips. "I've been trying to keep my composure, but you're making it very difficult." He let his fingers brush lightly against their arm, a brief but deliberate touch.

"Beg, huh?" Mateo teased, his tone light but affectionate. "Well, I have to admit, seeing you grovel might be entertaining." He chuckled softly, his thumb continuing its gentle caress along Kade's jawline. "But honestly, you don't need to. You're home." He pulled back just enough to look Kade in the eyes, his own gaze filled with warmth and a hint of mischief. "Besides, I've always liked a challenge. And figuring things out with you by my side? That makes the challenge a little easier. Just a little, though—you can be a real pain in the ass." Without hesitation, Mateo caught Kade's lips in his own, humming at the familiar sensation. It was a sweet, short kiss, but it carried all the emotions he’d been holding back. "Thanks for coming and putting your ego aside," he mumbled against Kade's lips, his voice soft and sincere.
He couldn't fake this kind of vulnerability. Kade usually wore what he was feeling on the outside. It was just that he didn't usually get to this place. He'd let anger hang on instead until it turned into something else, leave whatever it was that caused him to feel that way in the dust and just move on. For whatever reason it hadn't been easy to do that when it came to Mateo. "I'm sorry too." It was a lot for Kade to own up to his bullshit but he hadn't come here to fight and he hadn't come here to just stare the other down and make him apologize first. Eyes closed when Mateo touched his face and for a moment Kade felt like he was actually home again. "I came prepared to beg you to take me back," he spoke softly, leaning in to rest his forehead against the other's. "Now I don't know what to do."

"Netflix??" Gabriel jests with a temporarily higher octave as if the suggestion had surely been the worst choice. Leaning back to meet eyes just moments before Chris nudged him with an elbow. "You know I don't have Netflix back at my flat, so I'd have no idea if they have any stand ups I'd like." Setting eyes forward, it's decided to back out of the app and click into Netflix.
"Nah, babe, can't do horror this late in the arvo. I got anxiety, and I have trouble sleeping as it is." The choice to keep things light and lax eased the discomfort in sharing a vulnerability, as did the warmth of their presence and touch upon the shoulder and arm. Insatiable, physical affection was Gabriel's core love language, and it felt good to splurge when he could. At the final suggestion, he inquires;"What's Bloomberg? That on Netflix? What episode are you on?" The ball of the foot rubs at the back of the calf muscle as a means of return in physical affection while seeking something to watch.
