APO ON THE WALL
The acquisition of authority isn't power comes from great responsibility.A different individual and eventually the entire nation will be created to acquire such a profound power. We need to be sufficiently conscious and informed of what is happening at the present time as well as what has happened in the future in this country, full of possibilities and uncertainties.
The poem talks about the narrative of the point of view of a boy, in which his father brought home his works and an image of his boss, which he calls Apo."I can't understand when I first read it, but when someone explained the poem I was fascinated because there is an allegological sense of being ".We all know that Ferdinand Marcos is the one who has instituted "Martial Law, " because I recall that my grandpa still tells true stories about the past.He said that the incidents that happened in the past are various and immense. He mentioned that the leaders are brutal and have many more.I can really say that we are grateful because the horrific and traumatic incident that occurred in the past has not been witnessed by us.And based on my interpretation, by using the poem, the author really wanted us to remember Martial Law and to be able to understand it takes a higher level of thought.
I like this poem titled "Apo on the wall" because it opened my eyes to see the circumstances that I didn't witness or encounter myself, about what the victims of martial law go through.I was enlightened because there are things that I can't comprehend during Marcos rules compared to those Filipinos who suffered deeply from the abusive use of power by Marcos. In fact, the family doesn't obey the reverences as the superior ruler, so the boy is afraid of respecting his father in the poem that he should always obey the other hand, and on the other hand,In general, I liked this poem because it's composition has an influence on our history, present and substitute years.
I felt sympathy for the Filipinos who have experienced that.As a student, I felt / happy because I hadnt experienced that in the past.If I was going to put myself in their shoes. When they were in the dark place where they were trapped, I imagined the situation of my fellow Filipinos suffering, they wanted to scream out and ask for help but they couldn't do it.
The message I received in the poem as a student is that we should be obedient and accountable enough to obey our country rules and regulations to preserve the beauty of our lives.
After understanding the poem, I realized that looking back at the past can be important. There are a lot of things that have happened in the past that we overlook because we have not witnessed it and that ignorance is the thing that we judge others without proper perspective. We can apply the lessons of the past in the present because it serves as a guide that we should let it go and continue to do great. This poem is a testimony to what happened in the past. The past is in the past, but in the present and up to the future, we must look back to the past and continue to move. However, a person has the ability to build what life / she wants to live, but the past, present and future are intertained with each other.
