I really wished I recorded more of this performance on my crap phone. I thought the Twitch stream would catch it but they added waaaaaay too many effects on the video to actually see what was going on.
Let me paint a picture of what I witnessed with my own eyes of this legendary opening to the first MapleStory Fest.
Lights dim. A compilation of Maple animations for a couple minutes plays ending with a scene that says MapleStory Fest. The crowd cheers! We’re ready for the presentation to start! The lights dim again. It’s dark and slowly we hear, “mapluustoooryy, mapluuustorrryyyy. Ma-ma-maaaaple”. The crowd fking LOSES IT. People are cheering and screaming as this legendary video plays of the Korean boy singing his rendition of the game’s opening theme while dancing in his school uniform in his living room. But then the video abruptly cuts off and the screen is black. A single spotlight turns on and a shadowy figure wearing the same clothes slowly dances on stage in the same fashion as the boy in the video. THE CROWD LOSES IT EVEN MORE. I LOSE IT TOO. I’m screaming, everybody’s screaming. They’re playing JVNA’s remix to the opening theme as I whip out my phone to get this on camera and 3 more dancers similarly dressed join him.
Hands down the best thing that has ever happened in my life. If they’re going to have another MapleFest, they cannot top this opening.
